How should we save our personal memories? Many people keep diaries and take pictures for that purpose. In this study, we kept things of personal significance in a time capsule for 9 years and examined whether personal memories could be saved in a time capsule and how they might possibly change over time. We held a workshop in 2003 when participants put something that they had possessed which had personal significance at that time of their life. They were interviewed to explain what kinds of significance these possessions had for them, and these interview sessions were recorded. Nine years after the initial workshop, the participants came together again. Before the time capsule was opened, they were asked to recall what they had put in the time capsule and to describe in what ways their possession in the time capsule had been significant to them. By comparing the contents of the participants’ responses between 2003 and 2012, it was found that a great deal of the contents have been changed from 2003 to 2012. Implications were discussed as regards to the significance of objects themselves and the narratives that go with the objects in preserving personal memories.

便秘傾向で60歳以上の健常成人男女58名(平均年齢68.8±5.3歳)に,Bifidobacterium breveヤクルト株が製品1個あたり1.0×1010 cfu含まれるはっ酵乳(商品名 ミルミル)を連続4週間摂取するオープン試験を実施した.被験者は排便日数が週に3から5日で,便の硬めな(便の水分含量が70%未満)人を選択した.はっ酵乳(試験食品)の4週間摂取は,排便量の増加を伴った排便回数および排便日数の有意な増加を示した(各々p<0.0001).さらに3日間以上連続で排便のなかった被験者の割合も試験食品摂取により低下した(p=0.013).しかし,便の硬さを表す便性状スコア(Bristol stool scale)の評価では,試験食品の摂取によって平均スコアに変化は認められなかった.症状の程度を5段階で評価した排便時の症状および腹部症状スコアに対し,試験食品はいきみおよび残便感の平均スコアを低下し(各々p=0.022および0.0002),症状の軽減が示唆されたが,腹痛および腹部膨満感のスコアには顕著な変化はみられなかった.色素を経口摂取してから便中に色素が検出されるまでの時間(腸管通過時間)を観察したところ,色素の滞留時間は摂取前後で変化はみられなかった.以上の結果より,連続4週間のB.breveヤクルト株を含むビフィズス菌はっ酵乳の摂取は,便秘傾向な60歳以上の健常な男女において排便量の増加を促し,排便頻度の増加および排便リズムを安定化させる便秘改善効果が示唆された.また,排便時のいきみや残便感の症状を改善する可能性も示唆された.

This study aimed to clarify the influence of dietary habits and daily intake of fermented milk containing Lactobacillus casei strain Shirota, 1.5×1010 cfu/65 mL/day, on bowel habits in elderly nursing home residents. A total of 20 elderly nursing home residents (2 men, 18 women, age 88.1±6.7 years) participated in this study. We recorded the amount of food intake and bowel habits (defecation frequency and laxative administration) of residents during a designated non-intake period (6 months) and an intake period (6 months). During the intake period, defecation frequency increased from 36.5±13.7 to 41.0±14.4% (p<0.05). Frequency of laxative administration decreased slightly from 26.6±13.0 to 24.9±14.2% (there is no significant difference). Among participants who had improved defecation frequency, the amount of food intake (individual eating rate) was slightly larger than that in those that did not improve defecation frequency (94.0±5.1% vs. 89.1±13.6%). These findings suggest that daily intake of fermented milk containing Lactobacillus casei strain Shirota might provide benefits including improved bowel habits in elderly nursing home residents.

本論文は,入出力機構を持ち現実空間に遍在する実体を基本構成要素とするシステム・プラットフォーム,Organic Entia について述べる.本システムは,実空間中の物体に起因する情報を主な対象としたアプリケーションの構築と,その際の自律構成を第一の目標に置く。更に本システムを基盤として,実空間中の環境データと人とを結ぶHuman-Environment Interface を確立することを目指している.本稿の後半では,Organic Entia の実現の基盤となるロケーションモデル,cell-proximity model を紹介する.In this paper, we propose Organic Entia, an open architecture for real-space com-puting.It focuses on objects in real-space rather than information in digital (cyber) space. The key requirements for this system are ability to handle location infor-mation without pre-configuration and to implement interfaces between real-space objects and people. We also introduce a novel location model based on cells and proximity measure.

本論文は、複数のユーザによって楽曲に付与された時間区間アノテーション (コメントや評価) の集約によって得られる楽曲のダイジェストを用いた、楽曲推薦システムを提案する。本システムは、ユーザが楽曲内の気に入ったフレーズを検索クエリとして選択すると、そのクエリと各楽曲のダイジェストとの類似度を計算し、クエリによく似たダイジェストを持つ楽曲を推薦する。本手法は、時間区間アノテーションに基づいたダイジェストに着目することで、部分的フレーズに対する楽曲推薦を可能にする。このダイジェストは、計算機による構造抽出とは異なり人の音楽に対する感性を反映しているため、よりユーザの嗜好に適した推薦を行うことができると考えられる。楽曲推薦実験を通じて、提案手法が正解率とセレンディピティ (思いがけず価値のあるものを発見する能力) に関して優れた推薦能力を持つことを示す。

ガウスの_2E1,一般超幾何函数_{n+1}E_n, アッペルのE_1, E_2, E_3, ジョルダン・ポッホハンマー E_{JP}, そしてラウリッツェラのE_Dなる微分方程式(系)の解の基本系を積分表示で与え,それについての回路行列を明示的に求め,応用として,微分方程式の既約条件を決定した.また F_2, F_3, F_4の場合,隣接関係を調べることにより,対応する微分方程式の可約条件を与えた.E_1~E_4, F_A~F_D, _{n+1}E_nおよびゲルファントの点配置空間上の超幾何微分方程式系について,ある多価函数のサイクル上の積分が解を与えることを示した.

多様体間の可微分写像に現れる特異点を大域的観点から研究し,その特異点と多様体の微分位相幾何学的性質について種々の新しい知見を得た.たとえば,多くの位相的4次元多様体の上には無数の可微分構造があることが知られているが,そのうちで特異点が簡単な写像を許容する可微分構造は一意的であることが示された.またそうした大域的研究が特異点の局所的研究に役立つ例も発見した.こうして,写像の特異点や特異ファイバーと,多様体や写像の同境類の間の深い関係を明らかにし,多くの具体的成果を得た.
