Three probabilistic indices were proposed for interpreting major types of statistical results obtained in behavioral research:the probability of concordance as an index of correlation, and two versions of the probability of dominance being indices of mean difference in the case of randomized and paired data, respectively. Charts for finding confidence intervals for their population values were provided. The relationships of these indices with certain nonparametric statistics were also noted.

第六章では、関東軍の主宰により作られた大奉天都市計画の実行や満洲国期における瀋陽の社会変容を取り上げる。とくにその時期の奉天市政発展の成果や問題を総括的に考察した。まず奉天の特別市制問題や治外法権の撤廃問題など奉天市の発展に関する重要な問題を考察し、日本と満洲国側の微妙な相違点を明らかにした。満洲国の成立により、奉天市の発展は日本の意志に従属せざるを得なかったが、傀儡の立場にいた閻市長を中心とする一部の満洲国官吏は一定の自主権を求め、日本と協力しながら奉天の発展をはかろうとした。そのような傀儡政権の中に一定程度の自立を求めることは満洲国期の奉天都市発展のもう一つの重要な特徴である。また、満洲国期における大奉天都市計画の施行の実態を考察し、道路の敷設、奉天市内交通の整備、水道の進展の状況を検討した。これらの考察を通してさらに奉天の社会変容を明らかにした。第七章では、これまでほとんど利用されていなかった『日本関東憲兵隊報告集』といった資料を分析しながら、民衆の日常生活の角度から都市の発展を検討する。満洲国期における奉天民衆の生活状況がどのように変化したかを考察し、とりわけ関東憲兵隊が押収した通信に隠された日中戦争期における奉天市民生活の実態を解明した。戦争の拡大により、多くの物資が日本に徴収され、奉天ではますます物資不足の状況が深刻化した。米や小麦粉の配給はなくなるのみならず、高粱、粟など代用食糧の配給も徐々に少なくなった。市民はやむを得ず闇市場の高価な食糧に依存した。しかも、餓死を待つという最悪の状況に陥った市民も数少なく存在した。市民の困窮した生活と異なり、一部の日本軍人は贅沢な生活をしていたことも資料から読みとれる。とにかく、本論文は近代奉天市の都市発展と市民生活を三つの段階に分けて、それぞれの時期の特徴を明らかにしつつ、日露戦争から終戦までの奉天市の発展図を描いた。

音楽から知覚が生まれる場所は脳である.しかし,豊かな音楽を持つヒトの脳の中身を直接覗くのは容易ではなく,音楽と脳の関係についての理解はまだ限定的である.本解説では,音楽に対するヒトのマクロな脳活動と,音楽を構成する要素であるピッチにかかわる動物のミクロな脳活動を題材として,その解析や理解に情報科学的手法(行列分解, ICA, Deep Learning (CNN))が使われている近年の例を解説する.

幕末期の一連の政治史において、薩摩・長州・土佐・越前各藩など雄藩が、重要な役割を果たしたことは言うまでもないが、藩全体の八割を占めた九万石以下の小藩はいかにして幕末期を乗り切り、維新を迎えたのだろうか。本稿では、日向延岡藩七代藩主であった内藤政義が記した自筆『日記』から、元治~慶応期に譜代小藩である延岡藩の動向を考察した。政義の交際は、実家の井伊家、養子政挙の実家太田家、それに趣味を通じて交流のあった水戸徳川家など広範囲にわたる。元治元年七月の禁門の変以降、二度に及ぶ長州征討に政挙が出陣しているが、江戸にいる隠居政義は高島流炮術や銃槍調練に励む一方、政局とはかけ離れた世界に居た。政義は梅・菖蒲・桜草・菊観賞に頻繁に遠出し、また水戸慶篤と品種交換や屋敷の造園に勤しんだ。在所からの為替銀が届かず藩財政は破綻に瀕しており、慶応三年末、薩摩藩邸の焼き討ちを契機に政義は在所延岡への移住を決断する。六本木屋敷に養母充真院を残したまま、翌慶応四年四月、政義は奥女中や主な家臣家族ともども品川を出船し延岡へ向かった。幕末期の譜代小藩の動向を窺うことができる。

「固定ド・移動ド」は単なる譜読みの方式ではなく、音楽解釈や演奏にまで深くかかわる。本学に入学してくる学生たちの大半は、現代日本の音楽教育環境を背景として「固定ド」しか知らないのだが、その現状を放置することは許されないであろう。歴史をひもといたときに明らかなのは、「ドレミファ…」は元来、階名、つまり「移動ド読みのためのツール」だということだ。一方、固定ドは平均律に調律された現代ピアノを拠り所としている。それは一見、便利かつ合理的なものにみえるが、われわれは平均律そのものの欠点をよくよく認識しなくてはならない。「良い音楽家」を目指す者には、やはり「移動ドのセンス」が必要なのである。The " fixed doh/movable doh" is not simply a way of music reading, but also a matter of music interpretation.Most students who get into our department of music expression only know the " fixed doh"against the background of music-educational environment in present-day Japan; but I think we must notoverlook this situation. When we trace the " movable doh" back to its origins, it is obvious that " dore-mi-fa…" are essentially the syllable names, in other words a tool for the movable doh reading. The" fixed doh" is based on the equally tempered piano. It seems to be convenient and reasonable, but wehave to understand sufficiently its weak points. Students who aim at becoming good musicians are requiredto have the sense of " movable doh."

日本の鉄道は大量輸送能力や安全性が高い.その要因として,インフラ整備,メンテナンス,オペレーション人材が注目されているが,その要諦となる鉄道車両の開発マネジメントに関する研究はほとんど見当たらない.本論文では,日本の鉄道車両開発マネジメントの特徴を明らかにすることを目的として,鉄道事業者Z社(匿名)の近郊車両T3系(仮称)の開発プロセスとマネジメントの実態を記述し,その実態と自動車や航空機の開発マネジメントの特徴を比較した.分析 の結果,日本の鉄道車両開発マネジメントには,ユーザーである鉄道事業者が開発責任者となって,サプライヤーである鉄道車両メーカーを効率的かつ効果的にマネジメントしながら,開発全体のフロントローディング活動を牽引しているという特徴があり,その特徴が日本の鉄道車両開発プロセスとマネジメントを今後グローバル展開する上での課題につながっていることが明らかになった.

本研究は,青年期の男女が別れに際してもつネガティブな感情や行動的反応が告白の立場と別れの主導権により異なるかを調べた。被調査者は大学生344名(男性135名,女性209名)であった。そのうち,異性とつきあった後に,別れた経験のある223名を分析の対象とした。調査の結果,約40%の対象者が別れた後も相手に対して好意を持っていた。交際期間が短い場合,自分から別れを切り出した場合,相手だけが恋愛関係に夢中で,尽していた場合に別れ後に相手を嫌いであった。別れ後の感情・行動については,自分から告白して自分から別れを切り出した人は泣くことが少なかった。また,自分から告白して相手からふられた人は再び相手を好きになることが少なかった。さらに,別れた後も積極的に相手と会うという人は少なかったが,相手から告白されて自分からふった場合に特に少なかった。全般的に,別れ後の感情や行動に及ぼす告白の立場の影響は小さく,別れの主導権の影響が大きかった。

Falls are common in elderly patients and are often serious. Several drugs have been associated with an increased risk of fall. Older adults often take multiple drugs for chronic diseases, and thus may be at increased risk from drugs associated with fall. We investigated the association between drug use and falling in hospitalized older people, with the goal of identifying medications that may increase the risk of a fall. A retrospective case control study was performed at the National Hospital Organization Kumamoto Saishunso Hospital in Japan. Medications taken by patients who fell (n=57) were compared with those taken by patients who did not fall (n=63). The median age (interquartile range; IQR) of the fall and non-fall groups were 75.0 (67.0-83.0) and 80.0 (70.3-84.5) years, respectively. The characteristics of the two groups were similar, with no significant differences in age, sex, or body weight. The probability of falling increased when the patients used zolpidem [odds ratio (OR)=2.47; 95%CI: 1.09-5.63; p<0.05] and calcium channel antagonists (OR=0.299; 95%CI: 0.13-0.68; p<0.01), and was also related to physical factors (OR=2.27; 95%CI: 1.01-5.09; p<0.05). Elderly patients taking zolpidem may fall due to sleepiness, and blood pressure control may be important to prevent orthostatic high blood pressure. In the treatment of elderly people, medical staff should try to choose drugs that prevent fall or are not associated with falling.

In order to find the proper method of medical treatment for the afflicted men on board the No.5 Fukuryu Maru on March 1, 1954, it was necessary to know the species and amounts of radioactive elements in the dust of the so-called Bikini Ashes which had fallen on board.At the request of the Hospital of Tokyo University, the authors started analyses on March 18.A combined method of chemical separation with the use of carriers and separation with the use of ion exchange resin was applied;17 nuclides were detected and the results of quantitative estimation of alkaline earth metals were reported on March 31.The main constituent of the ashes was found to be calcium hydroxide and its radioactivity was 0.37mC/g (April 23) which was decayed proportionally to -1.37 power of the time elapsed.The chemical group separation was carried out as shown in Table 3; the second, third(especially rare earth metals)and fifth(alkaline earth metals)analytical groups showed strong radioactivity.By ion exchange method(Fig. 4), the fraction of anions, Zr and Nb fraction, U fraction, the fraction of rare earth metals and the fraction of alkaline earth metals were separated.Furthermore, each constituent of those fractions was estimated quantitatively.In order to confirm the presence of 129mTe, 129Te, 131I, 132I, 103Rn, 106Ru, 106Rh, 95Zr and 95Nb, the chemical method was used.The members of alkaline earth metals, e.g.45Ca, 89Sr, 90Sr, (90Y), 140Ba and (140La), and the members of rare earth metals, e.g.91Y, 141Ce, 143Pr, 144Ce, 144Pr and 147Nd were estimated after the separation with the use of ion exchange resin.The presence of 237U was confirmed from its radioactivity and chemical properties.Also α-tracks of 239Pu.were detected by autoradiograph ic method.Table 6 indicates the summary of the results.
