ACM マルチメディア国際会議 (ACM Multimedia) が 2012 年 10 月 29 日~11 月 2 日の日程で奈良新公会堂にて開催される.今年,この会議が 1993 年に始まって,ちょうど開催 20 周年にあたる記念すべき年でもある.この会議は,ACM SIG-MM のフラッグシップ会議であり,マルチメディア分野での最も重要な学術会議である.近年のマルチメディア国際会議の動向,特に,昨年米国で開かれた ACMMultimedia2011 の状況などを織り交ぜて,本会議に関する紹介を行う.日本での Multimedia 2012 におけるプログラムの特徴などについても紹介する.ACM Multimedia 2012 is held from Oct.29 to Nov.2, 2012 at Nara Prefecture New Public Hall. This year we celebrate 20th Anniversary of the conference since it started 1993. It is the flagship conference of ACM SIG-MM and it is the premier conference in the field of multimedia. In this talk, recent trend of this conference is introduced.

A new procedure to design numerical schemes for coupled partial differential equations is proposed. The resulting schemes have discrete counterparts of conservative or dissipative quantity in original system. They also enjoy another welcome feature that they are constructed on staggered time meshes, by which each variables can be computed alternately with less computational costs than usual schemes. The procedure is demonstrated in the case of the coupled KdV equations.

モデル改質ガソリンおよび灯油を炭化水素原料, イソオクタンを溶媒として, 乳化型液膜による炭化水素の回分抽出実験をかくはん槽を用いて行った。その結果, 改質ガソリン中の芳香族成分に対する最大収率として85%, n-ヘキサンを基準成分とする選択度として14という高い値が得られた。また接触操作開始時の選択度と平面水膜を想定して得られる理論選択度との間に良い相関関係が得られ, 改質ガソリンに対するその関係とナフサに対するその関係は良く一致した。一方, 灯油中の芳香族炭化水素の透過速度はナフサあるいはガソリン中のそれに比べて遅いが, 接触後20分における収率として70%という高い値が得られた。

根釧地方における牧草の凍害と雪腐病害の発生を確認するために,1974年秋〜1975年春に除雪および防除処理により越冬条件をコントロールし,翌春の冬枯れ状態を調査した。その結果,1)根雪後,積雪区の地表温度は0〜-5℃であったが,除雪区では-15〜-20℃まで冷却された。2)早春の冬枯れ程度はいずれの越冬処理においても,Pr>Or>Mf,Tf>Tiの順に高く,草種間差が明らかであった。Pr,Or,Mfについては寒冷なカナダで育成された品種は他品種よりも明らかに耐凍性が優った。3)越冬中の枯死株は,除雪条件では凍害によって増大し,積雪条件では雪腐病害によって増大した。4)以上のことから,当地方で発生するイネ科牧草の冬枯れは寡雪年では凍害,多雪年では雪腐病害の可能性が大きかった。

東京職工学校や東京工業学校の卒業生の就職先の中には、各地の工業学校の前身校や師範学校が選ばれている。工業系の学校でありながら、教育機関に就職したのはなぜか。それは東京職工学校設立の理由の一つに、府県の職工学校の教員を養成する使命があったから。特別生制度や工業教員養成所の開設により、この使命は制度化され、工業界の活況にあわせ各地の工業学校設立の需要に応じた。各地に設けられはじめた職工学校や工業学校は、東京職工学校や東京工業学校の付属校をモデルとした。その初期の工業学校に卒業生は校長として、また教員として赴き学校の基礎を作った。大正5年の記録によると、全国工業学校35校中その校長32名は何れも東京工業学校の卒業生であり、各校の教員も多数を占めた。本稿では、東京職工学校の発展過程や国家の実業教育政策を明らかにし、東京工業大学・前身校の中等工業学校教育に果たした役割を考察したものである。

しゃべってコンシェルでは自然な発話により,携帯端末の基本機能 (電話,メール,スケジューラ,等) を利用したり,さまざまな情報 (地域情報,リアルタイム情報,デジタルコンテンツ,等) を検索したりすることが簡単にできる.そのようなサービスを実現するにあたり,ユーザの発話の内容を解析し,ユーザの求める最適なアプリケーションや各種専門検索エンジンに処理を橋渡しする意図解釈技術と,発話内容が質問である場合には,質問に対する回答そのものを提示する知識検索技術が適用されている.本稿では,しゃべってコンシェルのサービス概要と,そこで活用されている言語処理技術について述べる.

The fictitious suit (Scheinprozess), that is, court procedure through which a private legal action was confirmed, was held only at the royal tribunal during the period from the late seventh to the early eighth century. In examining this procedure, the author tries to shed light on the role of the royal tribunal in the late Merovingian period. The fictitious suit has been seen as an affirmation of property ownership, or as a means of conveyancing, but it was in reality a confirmation of warranty against eviction (Eviktionshaftung). Therefore it was based on a private legal action following Roman law. Roman private law was practiced until about the middle of the eighth century in the north of the Frankish kingdom called Neustria, but in this region disputes were settled predominantly by unwritten Frankish customs. Although the covenant of warranty against eviction was made on the occasion of conveyance, it had no effect as an objective rule. The use of the fictitious suit by the royal tribunal shows that kingship in the late Merovingian period was trying to cover deficiencies in objective norms. The fictitious suit of the Frankish period could thus be used only at the royal tribunal, and only when and where private legal action was practiced according to Roman law, but disputes were settled by Frankish customs, in Neustria in the late Merovingian period. It is generally acknowledged that the legal life in the Merovingian state is characterized by plurality of law. However, the research has not questioned what role the royal tribunal played in this context. The fictitious suit, which is only one part of the activities of the royal tribunal, shows that Merovingian kingship played an important role as public power, though partially and rudimentarily, whenever and wherever Roman law as the objective norm and Roman administration declined. It also suggests that the royal tribunal was able to cope with juristic situations which varied in different regions.

本稿では、マルチモーダルインタフェースの作成と評価を容易に行うツールMuse (ultimodal Userinterface?design Support Edito)について述べる。MuseではUI?objectを画面上に配遣することでUIの外観を設計し、UI?objectの機能・情報設定やリンクの設定を行うことで動作の設計を行う。Museでは、入力手段としてタッチパネルによるポインティング入力、音声入力、画面上に描かれた文字を認識する文字入力を、また出力手段として静止画とアニメーションの表示、録音音声の出力、規則合成の出力という、マルチモーダル入出力機能を備えている。Museでは、これらの機能すべでをGUIによって取り扱うことができる。This paper describes a Multimodal User-interface-design Support Editor (Muse) that reduces the designing and evaluating hours of multimodal user intarface. A developer can design a card's appearance by putting UI-objects on a screen, and construct scenarios by setting functions and/or messages and linking UI-objects to other UI-objects or screen. Muse equips multiple input channels of speech, pointing, and hand writing, as well as multiple output channels of picture, animation, audio, and text-to-speech. These multimodal functionalities can be implemented by using GUI on Muse.

The purpose of this paper is to study the principle of children's recognition, understanding focused on G. H. Mead's Interactionism. This study will be the starting point for clarifying the dynamism of teaching in "teacher-student" educational relationship. The theory of G. H. Mead in this paper is one in the early 20th century. Through studying Mead's theory, I may examine the scientific knowledge in the interaction between "experience" and "science", and draw suggestion about the principle of children's "understanding". Anyone knows that Mead was one of the American Pragmatists around the turn of the century and had great influence later on the Symbolic Interacionism. As yet one have researched on Mead's theory in the field of philosophy or sociology. In the pedagogical field, only Mead's self-formative theory is quoted a little. It's important to study early works for searching possibility of Mead's educational theory, because the self theory may be based on the early educational works of Mead. Then,in order to grasp the principle of children's understanding, this paper brings focus into, firstly, the criticism to the separation of "science" and "experience", secondly, the generation of meaning in the interacion of "science" and "experience", and of student and teacher. This aims to grasp the educational fundamental perspective and draw the suggestion for the principle of understanding.

本論文は,人間の創造的な思考を支援するための手法と,それに基づく支援システムを提案する.まず,創造性についての認知科学研究に基づいた思考過程のモデルを提示し,思考の制約となっているものを変更することで創造的な思考が進むことを述べる.そして,思考の制約のうち,記憶の想起の障害となっている時間的な制約に着目し,それをシステムによってユーザに変更を促すことで創造的な思考を支援することを提案している.提案手法では,時間的な制約を空間的な制約に変換してユーザに提示することで,ユーザの想起を促し,それによって思考を支援することを行う.支援システムEn Passant 2は,思考活動で最もよく用いられる紙に書かれたメモを利用し,それをシステムに入力することで,ユーザの記憶の想起のきっかけを与えるのに利用している.ユーザは,システム上でメモのマークをつけることでメモを特徴づける.それを用いてシステムはメモ間の関連度を算出し,メモを2次元空間上にマップしてユーザに提示する.システムを用いた長期実験を行い,システムの有用性を示している.In this paper,we propose a method and its implementation to aid the process of creative thought.The objective of this research is to enhance the human creativity with computers.This paper deals with a scientific creativity.In order to aid the process of creative thought,we have implemented a system named En Passant 2,which stores the user's research notes.The user can put his/her own mark as an index onto his/her notes in the system.The unique feature of En Passant 2 lies in the function to deal with indices and a time attribute of the user's thought explicitly.Using indices and time information,the system shows the user's notepads related to his/her awareness of the issues.The recall of his/her memories in present context makes a collision of two contexts,and that triggers the user's creativity.We have carried out several experiments and show the results.
