This paper examines the significance of the universal design of class lesson (Jugyo UD) from a theoretical perspective, in particular the role of inclusive education system in Japan. In recent years, as efforts to develop Jugyo UD have become increasingly popular in the schools, there has been an increase of critical arguments against it. We believe that the reasons for this are that the concept of universal design itself is unclear and that there are misunderstandings about the aims of Jugyo UD. Furthermore, it is argued that there is a difference in the approach to universal design between Jugyo UD in Japan and Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and that this is related to the balance between accommodations and modifications in inclusive education. In conclusion, it was confirmed that Jugyo UD is an indispensable approach to the development of an inclusive education system in Japan as a basic environmental arrangement.

This study describes shell-exchange behavior in the hermit-crab-like tanaidacean Macrolabrum sp. (Pagurapseudidae: Pagurapseudinae) under captive conditions. I observed one shell exchange by Macrolabrum sp., the behavioral sequence of which was as follows: a shell-carrying tanaidacean 1) grasped the edge of the aperture of an empty gastropod shell with its right cheliped; 2) inspected the condition inside the shell four times by inserting the anterior portion of its body into the shell; and 3) moved into the shell, posterior end (pleotelson) first. The elapsed time from the initial grasping of the empty shell to completing the move into it was 2 min 20 sec. In contrast to a Pagurapseudes tanaidacean and hermit crabs, the individual of Macrolabrum sp. did not examine the external surface of the shell during the single shell exchange observed.

本稿の目的は,異なる入学区分の学生の学修成果の違い,およびその背後にある学修能力の違いを検証することである。一般に,学力型入試と非学力型入試とでは選抜基準が異なるため,入学する学生の能力が異なる可能性が指摘され,それが入学後の学修成果にも影響する可能性が議論されてきた。本稿では,1996年4月から2015年4月までに明治学院大学国際学部国際学科に入学した学生の成績データを用い,入学区分と学修成果の関係を検証する。結果として,入学区分と入学後の学修成果の間に一定の関係が確認された。さらに,2014年4月の入学生については中学・高校時代の成績や学内外活動に関するサーベイ調査を実施し,中高での成績や課外活動が入学区分と関係する可能性,さらに大学での学修成果と関係する可能性を議論した。本論文の貢献は,入学区分と学修成果の関係を検討する際に時系列の傾向を確認することの重要性を示したことと,区分間の定員配分の変化が学生の学修能力に影響する可能性をデータ分析に基づき示したことである。

この論文は,人類学において日常的実践がいかに理解され,またいかにその理論的枠組みの中に適切に位置づけられるかを,特にプルデューの実践理論に焦点をあてながら論じる。ブルデューが持続的かつ移調可能な実践の発生母体としてのハビトゥスを概念化するにあたって,人類学的主体と観察され記述される人びととを同一地平に置ぎながら論じたことはきわめて重要な意義をもつだろう。人類学者の理論的実践と人びとの日常的実践を接合するこの先鋭的な試みは,レヴィ・ストロース的構造人類学と現象学的社会学の双方を批判することによって達成され,「再帰的人類学」と呼ばれる新たな研究の地平を開くことになった。この再帰的位置において,人類学者は構造的な制約の中で自由と「戦略」をもって実践を生みだすハビトゥスを検討するにあたって,自らの知識が前もって構成された特権的な図式でしかないことを理解する必要に迫られる。この論文はブルデューのハビトゥス概念の成立過程を明らかにするとともに,そのいくつかの問題点を指摘しながら,今日の再帰的人類学における理論的諸問題に取り組むためのより適切な展望を開こうとする。

Śivatāṇḍava-stotra is a Sanskrit hymn of praise to the Lord Śiva in the Hindu religious tradition. It has beenvery popular in India and is famous for its high literary grace. And it is traditionally ascribed to Rāvaṇa, the rivalof Rāma who is the hero of one of the two cerebrated Indian epics, Rāmāyaṇa.This article presents a Japanese translation of this hymn with annotation. The Rāmāyaṇa (chapter 7, section16) narrates the account of how Rāvaṇa became a devotee (bhakta) of Śiva and how he came to sing the hymn tohim. This episode is also translated in this article.The hymn describes many mūrti (forms) of Śiva related to his various mythological episodes. The annotationexplains these related episodes and the visual representations as well.

This study examines the regional pattern of lost and closed ski fields in Japan, analyzing closing trend of alldeveloped ski fields including those equipped only with T-bar lifts. Around 750 ski fields were opened between1950 and 2003 in the whole country. However, nearly 37 percent of them were already closed or completelydisappeared. This trend was dominant around 2000, involving owners' changes of lift companies. Most of thelost fields tend to be very small with one or two ski lifts. Whereas there are many lost ski fields previously operatedby urban capital around the metropolitan areas, the outer extent areas from there have many lost ski fieldsby local governments. The increasing difficulty of the management plays an important role for the closing basedon the decrease in the number of active skiers, rather than shortage of snow depth. The changing environment ofthe management has been affected through the changes in locational conditions for ski fields, the diseconomiesof fields' agglomeration in an appropriate region, the very short-term of growth period around 1990, and problemsin local municipalities(such as deficit budget and amalgamation).While the number of active skierscontinuously decreased in the last 20 years, especially in snowy regions in eastern Japan, there are some signsfor recovering market of skiers now. Operating firms of existing ski fields face various tasks for the sustainabledevelopment, including measures against the expanding foreign skiers.
