The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of the past injuries of female junior high and high school soccer players in comparison with those of male junior high and high school soccer players. 41 female and 60 male players were examined for the past injuries that they had experienced. The incidence of injuries in females was 0.21±1.69 injuries per player per year compared to 0.28±0.41 injuries per player per year in males. There was not significant difference in the incidence of past injuries between males and females. The most frequently injured region was the ankle in females and the upper extremities in males. Females experienced frequent ligament injuries while males experienced frequent fractures. It was unusual that females experienced a higher rate of Osgood-Schlatter disease. Females also had more traumatic injuries caused by non-contact incidents. We conclude that it is important for female soccer players in junior high and high school to take measures to prevent ligament injuries in the lower leg and traumatic injuries caused by non-contact incidents. We need to conduct further research to reveal why the females experienced a higher rate of Osgood-Schlatter disease.

Recent synthetic aspects of three cyclic peptides are reviewed. On the syntheses of gramicidin S, an antibacterial cyclodecapeptide, and its analogs, several methods for cyclization were performed using various deca- and pentapeptide precursors. Among them, the succinimide active ester and azide methods gave desired products in good yield. Furthermore, the yield of the products was found to depend highly on amino acid sequence of the precursors. Five analogs of Cyl-2, a phytotoxic cyclotetrapeptide, were synthesized. Comparison of Cyl-2 with the analogs by NMR implied that Cyl-2 has an unique conformation. AM-toxin I, II and III are phytotoxic cyclotetradepsipeptides containing dehydroalanine. The proposed structures of the toxins could be synthetically confirmed by different methods. Conversion of serine residue in cyclotetradepsipeptide precursors to dehydroalanine via β-elimination was unsatisfactory, whereas reasonable improvement was obtained by using Hofmann degradation of α, β-diaminopropionic acid.

The molecular recognition of DNA by small molecules including bisintercalators has been described. Site-specific chemical reactions of DNA are next reviewed. These include i) reactions of DNA with oxygen-dependent antibiotics such as bleomycin, neocarzinostatin and camptothecin, and ii) single strand cleavage induced by artificial compound-metal-O2 systems. Sequence specific photoreaction between DNA and psoralenes is briefly discussed. A new method for selective removal of thymine from DNA utilizing photochemical reaction is also described in detail.

Nonenzymatic synthesis of oligonucleotides by model reactions of nucleic acid biosynthesis is reviewed. The nucleic acid biosyntheis catalyzed by polymerase is described briefly at first. Oligonucleotides are prepared from activated nucleotides catalyzed by metal ions such as Pb2+ and Zn2+ which mimic the role of the metal ion at the active cite of the polymerase. Template-directed synthesis of oligonucleotides is described as a model reaction of nucleic acid replication. The metal ions, the template and the activated nucleotide used as a monomer affect the yield, chain length and regioselecivitv of the resulting oligonucletide.

It is said that the concrete filled steel column, so called the composite column, possesses good strength and ideal ductility. However, its behavior under load is not clear enough at present. We made experiments to compare the effect of shear connectors with that of projections on steel plate for the simplest column under the axial load. During the axial loading, the authors gave impact on the specimens and measured induced elastic wave. Spectrum analysis of the elastic wave gave the information about composite action between concrete and steel. By these experiments the following were observed. The column with shear connectors had the highest rigidity, the one with projections the second and the one of flat steel the lowest. The strength was almost the same to the column with shear connectors and the one with projections. As for the ductility, the steel with projections was better than the one with shear connectors.

トランプ米国大統領の英語を主要歴代大統領や彼と大統領選で戦った候補と比較すると、文法は小学校5年から6年生レベル、語彙は8年生に届かない低いレベルである。また彼の英語には、繰り返しや口語的な誇張表現の多用が見られ、スラングや上品でない言葉も含まれる。トランプ大統領が自ら認めたと思われる、2018年5月24日付けの北朝鮮金正恩労働党委\n員長に宛てた首脳会談の「中止」を告げる書簡をチェックすると、語法や言い回しにおいて指摘すべき点が多々ある。英語を母語とする人が、たとえ米国の大統領であったとしても、必ずしも相応しい英語を書く訳ではなく、時には間違った、あるいは望ましくない英語を書いている。トランプ大統領がSNS等で書く英語は子供っぽく、また誇張表現や感情表現が多いが、スピーチライターが慎重を期して書き、トランプ大統領がゆっくり発している大統領選勝利演説や大統領指名受諾演説、一般教書演説等は英語学習において有用である。英語学習者はその点を踏まえて彼の英語を活用するのが良い。

This paper deals with the stationkeeping control for halo orbits at <i>EL</i>₁ in the Sun-Earth/Moon system, and proposes an effective adaptive robust controller for the unknown spacecraft mass and perturbation boundaries. The controller has to deal with two divergence sources: one is the instability of the halo orbit, and the other is the perturbation imposed by the natural model onto the nominal model. The former source is displayed by the Floquet multiplier from the Poincaré mapping. However, the latter is revealed by the difference of Hamiltonian functions between the nominal reference model, the circular restricted three-body problem (CR3BP) and the natural simulation model, the spatial bicircular model (SBCM). Firstly, the algorithm of backstepping control theory is employed to generate the initial controller in the nominal reference model of CR3BP. Some improvements are then implemented for the estimations of the unknown parameters as the perturbation boundaries and the spacecraft mass, which may cause the failure of the initial unimproved controller in stationkeeping. The controller proves to be effective in terms of adaptive robust estimation and asymptotic stability from Lyapunov's stability theory. Furthermore, further improvements of the triggers for the on/off schedule are proposed to remedy the weakness in the capability of estimating for excessively long (infinite) time required to converge. Finally, the controller developed in this paper is implemented in the natural simulation model of SBCM to evaluate its performance. In the numerical simulation, the mass and perturbation boundaries will converge only after approximately three iterations. The deviation of the estimating mass is 1 kg from its true mass, but 55 kg for the unimproved controller. The total velocity increment over five years is only 126 m/s, which is equivalent to the fuel consumption of 3.8 kg for the Hall thrust engine carried by SMART-1.

α-位にメチルチオ基を導入したβ-ケトエステル類をパン酵母で還元すると,3-位がS-配置であるヒドロキシエステルがきわめて高い光学純度で得られることを見いだした。また,β-ケトジチオカルボン酸エステルのパン酵母還元では,とくにα-位に置換基を導入する.とβ-位のエナンチオ選択性のみならずα-位とβ-位のジアステレオ選択性も対応するカルボン酸エステルのパン酵母還元の場合にくらべていちじるしく向上することを明らかにした。このようにして得られた光学的に純粋なβ-ヒドロキシエステルは硫黄官能基の反応性の特長を活かして,マツハバチの性フェロモンである(2S,3S,7S)-2-アセトキシ-3,7-ジメチルペンタデカンを簡便な工程で立体選択的に合成することができた。
