Grit refers to a non-cognitive trait that is characterized by perseverance and passion for long-term goals. In this study, we developed a Japanese version of the Grit Scale and examined its reliability and validity. A confirmatory factor analysis indicated that the Japanese version of the Grit Scale had two factors corresponding to the original version (study 1, 2, and 3). The results indicated that the scale has high reliability (study 1 and 3). Grit was positively correlated with conscientiousness (study 2 and 3) and self-control (study 3). Nonetheless, grit demonstrated predictive validity of longitudinal persistence and success measures over conscientiousness, self-control, and intellectual ability (study 3). These results are consistent with previous studies and support the reliability and validity of the Japanese version of the Grit Scale.

本稿は沖縄県の石垣島を対象に観光資源としての星空の構築プロセスを検討した。石垣島では近年,自治体の観光基本計画に基づいた星空ツーリズムの推進や「星空保護区」の暫定認定,また星空観望専門の観光事業者を含む関連ツアーの増加とツアー内容の多様化などにみられるように,星空の観光資源化が急速に進行した。この要因には以下の3点が関係していると考えられた。第一に石垣島の観光地的性格を基盤とした星空観望ツアー導入の容易さ,第二に南の島の星まつりの開催による星空の価値化とその共有,第三に自治体における星空を対象とした観光振興の取り組みである。また,石垣市による「星空保護区」の申請のような資源の新たな価値づけの作業は,観光資源の競合状況の中で地域を発展させる取り組みとして有用であった。以上の石垣島の動態は「夜間」のような新規性を有する対象の観光資源化を目指す地域において重要な視点になり得ると考えられる。

Plate motions provide the most basic information on plate tectonics. I explain how to describe plate motions on the Earth mathematically, and how they can be determined. I review the history of the determination of global plate motions, the most recent of which has been derived by space geodetic techniques.

Experimental study with random allocation of treatments is regarded as the gold standard for estimation of causal parameters in statistical causal inference. However, when non-compliance among participants exists in the experiment it is likely to result in biased estimates of the parameters of interest. This paper discusses a sensitivity analysis in the estimation of causal parameters under apparent non-compliance. A motivating example is shown that concerns students' performance in university lectures. A procedure of sensitivity analysis for the estimates of causal parameters is presented that incorporates existence of apparent non-compliers, who are genuine compliers but act as non-compliers. An example of such procedure is shown for the case considered.

This paper examines the significance of the universal design of class lesson (Jugyo UD) from a theoretical perspective, in particular the role of inclusive education system in Japan. In recent years, as efforts to develop Jugyo UD have become increasingly popular in the schools, there has been an increase of critical arguments against it. We believe that the reasons for this are that the concept of universal design itself is unclear and that there are misunderstandings about the aims of Jugyo UD. Furthermore, it is argued that there is a difference in the approach to universal design between Jugyo UD in Japan and Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and that this is related to the balance between accommodations and modifications in inclusive education. In conclusion, it was confirmed that Jugyo UD is an indispensable approach to the development of an inclusive education system in Japan as a basic environmental arrangement.

現在,組織の知識を蓄積するために多くの組織では共有フォルダを用いてボトムアップ的に情報を大量に蓄積している.しかしながら,多くの情報は情報管理の属人化がおこり,組織環境の変化によりどこにどのような情報があるのかが分からなくなった結果,情報が死蔵され,組織知識の忘失がおこる.そこで,長くにわたって情報を継承してきた事例を基に,死蔵することなく組織の知識を継承する手法を検討した.その結果,長期にわたって情報を蓄積するためには,時間(年度),知識分類,案件の順番で情報を管理することが有効である.また,組織知識として蓄積・継承するべき知識の分類には7つの項目があるが,そのうち組織の記録が最も重要であることが分かった.Numerous information are stored in the shared folders for storing organizational knowledge by members, day by day. However, the information management depends on the member's memory, then many stored information are hoarded by changing environment of the organization, at last organizational knowledge is lost. In this paper, we examined the shared folder construction method which can avoid dead-stock, based on the case study of sharing and storing information in the organization between the long-term. As the result, we clarified that the shared folder which was constructed by the layer of time (year), knowledge classification, and matter can avoid hoarding. The knowledge classification had seven types, and the record of organization was the most important classification in those.

We report a rare case of intraoral foreign bodies.A 61 year-old woman felt pain in the oral cavity immediately after eating fresh squid and visited our hospital.We diagnosed as intraorl foreign bodies on examinations, since many white spindle shaped foreign bodies were observed in her oral cavity. We removed these foreign bodies with perimucosal tissue using forceps. The microscopic examination revealed the foreign bodies were the sperm bulb of the fresh squid.We emphasized that fresh squid should be eaten with care.
