1982年と1983年の2年間にわたって,多頭集団飼育されているエゾヒグマの性行動を観察した。個体識別した雄と雌グマ各20頭においては,特定のクマ同志で交尾をするということはなく,無差別に交尾を行っていた。交尾様式は,乗駕開始(Mounting),腰部の突き(Pelvic thrusting),後肢の痙攣様運動(Quivering),および乗駕終了(Dismounting)の順で行われ,その一連の行動に要する時間は平均23分であった。このうちの後肢の痙攣様運動は射精に伴う運動と推測された。乗駕は,1日の中では朝7時頃と夕方19時頃に多かった。また,繁殖期の中でも6月上旬にそのピークがみられた。雌グマは発情すると雄グマの乗駕を許容するようになり,その継続期間はかなり長くなる傾向を示したが,個体差も大きかった。雄グマは10歳以上になると年齢が進むにしたがいしだいに乗駕回数が減少するのに対して,雌グマは年齢によって雄グマに乗駕される回数に変化はなかった。

Recently, the illegal use of novel technologies, such as gene and cell therapies, has become a great concern for the horseracing industry. As a potential way to control this, metabolomics approaches that comprehensively analyze metabolites in biological samples have been gaining attention. However, it may be difficult to identify metabolic biomarkers for doping because physiological conditions generally differ between resting and exercise states in horses. To understand the metabolic differences in horse plasma between the resting state at training centres and the sample collection stage after racing for doping test (SAD), we took plasma samples from these two stages (n=30 for each stage) and compared the metabolites present in these samples by liquid chromatography-high resolution mass spectrometry. This analysis identified 5,010 peaks, of which 1,256 peaks (approximately 25%) were annotated using KEGG analysis. Principal component analysis showed that the resting state and SAD groups had entirely different metabolite compositions. In particular, the levels of inosine, xanthosine, uric acid, and allantoin, which are induced by extensive exercise, were significantly increased in the SAD group. In addition, many metabolites not affected by extensive exercise were also identified. These results will contribute to the discovery of biomarkers for detecting doping substances that cannot be detected by conventional methods.

李想白の活動は組織的関与と技術的関与に別けてみることが出来る。彼は大日本バスケットボール協会を1930年に設立し、その運営の中心を担い、李想白の組織的関与は多岐に及んでいた。彼の技術的関与は、自チームの指導のほか、『指導籠球の理論と実際』(1930)、協会の機関誌『籠球』などの執筆活動を通して技術や戦術の紹介を行っていた。李想白は先のことを見据えながら活動していたことがわかる。そして、彼の組織的関与と技術的関与により、当時の我が国の発展はなるべきしてなったと考えられる。しかし、競技的なバスケットボールが急速に広まった裏には、遊戯的なバスケットボールの姿が薄れて行ったことを忘れてはならない。

当院におけるreal-time PCRを用いた取り組みを紹介し,小児急性中耳炎の起因微生物の複雑さを明らかにした。肺炎球菌ワクチン導入後,小児急性中耳炎では肺炎球菌が減少し,インフルエンザ菌が増加している。肺炎球菌の感受性ではワクチンタイプが減少したことにより,耐性肺炎球菌が減少し,インフルエンザ菌では耐性化は進む傾向にあった。耐性インフルエンザ菌の増加している状況は,ペニシリン系抗菌薬がどこまで有効か難しいところではあるが,他の抗菌薬に比べ中耳移行の良いペニシリン系抗菌薬は,今後も上手に使っていく必要がある。そのためには,原因菌やその薬剤感受性をしっかり調べることが重要である。さらに小児急性中耳炎で問題となる反復性中耳炎に対する,十全大補湯と鼓膜換気チューブ留置術について検討した。両者とも有効性の高い治療であるが,十分適応を考えて保護者の十分な同意を得て行う必要がある。

Representation of preschool children's number concepts was investigated in the present study by giving children forward and backward counting problems. In backward counting, children performed significantly better with a type of Below 5 problem compared to a type of Over 5 problem. Analyses of counting errors revealed an absence of random errors in Below 5 problems but such errors were observed with Over 5 problems, Children were able to stop correctly at point “5” in forward counting but failed to stop at points other than “5” in forward counting. These results suggested that preschool children may represent numbers up to and including 5 as a firm structure or privileged anchor for numbers below 10. Results were discussed in terms of a mental number line in a representational system of numbers.
