The present study aimed to clarify the types and situations of play which are difficult for referees to judge by reviewing the results of video challenge system introduced in volleyball competition. The data analyzed were all the challenge requested from 76 matches in volleyball competition in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. The success rate of challenges was calculated from the number of successful challenges divided by the number of challenges for each type of play.As results, the following findings were obtained:1) The total number of challenges was 400 times, the number of successful challenges (i.e., the number of errors in referee's judgment) was 163 times, and the success rate of challenges was 40.8%. There was no difference in these variables between men’s and women’s competitions.2) The number of successful challenges and the success rate of challenges for the blocker’s ball contact were higher than those for the other types of play, suggesting that it is one of the most difficult judgments for volleyball referees to determine the contact between the blocker and the ball.3) Regarding the judgment on the ball contact of the blocker, the frequency of judgment corrected from no touch to touch was larger than that corrected from no touch to touch. Regarding the judgment on ball in/out, the frequency of judgment corrected from ball out to ball in was larger than that corrected from ball in to ball out.The present study revealed the types and situations of play which are likely to be erroneously judged in volleyball competition for the first time. These findings would be useful for improving the technique of referees from the viewpoint of using visual information and for the future application of video challenge system in volleyball.

南スーダン、ウガンダ国境地帯に位置するカジョケジ郡では、従来先祖崇敬やウィッチクラフトが存在したが、聖公会リバイバル運動の流入によってこれが否定されるようになっている。一方、人々は「神」の力でとり憑く悪魔を払おうとする。このキリスト教徒たちの「呪術」的実践とそれをめぐる言説を見ていくことによって、キリスト教における「呪術」のありようを提示し、キリスト教の人類学と呪術の人類学を架橋することを目指す。

China has made every effort to increase the railway transport since the foundation of the Peple's Republic of China. In 1995, Chinese railways reached 54, 615 km.The transport distance is now 2.50 times longer than that in the foundation in 1949 and 1.12 times longer than that in the start of market-oriented reform and open-door policy in 1978.Ministry of Railways has succeeded in modernization of railways such as electrification, double tracking and making larger the freight car. China is expect to continue 8% economic growth rate for the next fifteen years. The production of coal is estimated at 1.4 billion tons in 2000, and 2.0 billion tons in 2010.The shortage of investment in railways will bring the shortage of the railway trans-port.I think that the tailway trasport, if it is insufficent to invest in railway transport would be bottole-neck of the production of coal in China. It is also necessary that both the waterway transport and road transport are expanded and strengthend by investments. Thus coal and railway are essential to Chinese economy.This paper expects that appropriate policy on the transport of coal is quite necessary for the sound economic growth in the future.

<p>To work smoothly in a virtual space, it is necessary to recognize the space exactly and interact 3D information intuitively. In this study, we created a VR game environment that integrated stereoscopic vision based on a binocular parallax by a HMD with body motion measurement by a range image sensor. Also, to enhance immersion and operation feeling, we presented tactile information by using a vibro tactile globe and we verified usefulness of the operation by real-scale body motions, the stereoscopic vision and the tactile information. From the results of experiments, we could confirm that the operation by real-scale body motions and the stereoscopic vision are useful in the VR game environment created, and the tactile information is effective assistance for the operation by real-scale body motions.</p>

The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between Isoo Abe's pacifism and his recommendation that 'weak' men be sterilized. We are here concerned with the problem of manliness in Isoo Abe.<BR>Little attention has been given to Abe's argument in the 1920s about the necessity for sterilization of the weak. However, it is important to note that Abe was a pacifist and recommender of sterilization in 1920's. In his view, sterilization and 'peace' were inseparably related; American society as 'civilization' was the model for Abe's image of a 'peaceful' society.<BR>Abe was influenced by the American birth control movement of Margaret Sanger, and by the American eugenic movement of Paul Popenoe and Eugene Gosney. Abe insisted that the nation should exclude immigration and 'improve the race (jinsyu-kairyo),' in order to maintain homogeneity of the 'race.' That is to say, he attached importance to the 'race' problem in order to obtain 'world peace.' To solve the 'race' problem, he introduced 'birth control' to the Japanese people, and sterilization was one of the most important means for his theory of 'birth control.'<BR>Abe promoted the sterilization of weak men, because he attached importance to manliness. He believed that it was possible to create an 'ideal' society which was based, like an army, on strong people who have 'strong bodies' and 'masculine spirit.'<BR>This issue of Abe's image of manliness is surely not irrelevant to the issue of manliness in America which was examined in the studies about American history. For example, Gail Bederman has argued that there is a strong connection between ideas of 'civilization' and 'race' and the construction of manliness in America, and therefore it is not at all strange that one of the Japanese intellectuals who had been influenced by American culture also drew a connection between the notion of manliness and 'civilization' and 'race.' Further we can identify intellectual influences of this stream of thought on the international eugenic movement that includes the problem of eugenics of Nazism.
