ケーキバッターにおいては,製法により生じるバッター比重の相違が焼成中の温度上昇に影響を及ぼすと言われているため,撹拌程度を規制して3種の同一比重バッターを調製した。そしてこれらのバッターの物性を検討すると共に,この物性の影響を受けないモデル加熱法を考案し,バッターの熱伝導を調べ,バッターの熱の伝わりやすさやケーキ形状に及ぼすバターの有無・製法の影響をみた結果,1.撹拌規制によりスポンジとバタースポンジの両バッターは,共に流動性が増した。また同一比重の3種バッターの物性を比較すると,卵起泡のスポンジとバタースポンジはバター起泡のパウンドに比べ,柔らかく流動性があり,バッターの流動性にはバターの有無よりも製法が大きく影響するといえた。2.同一比重バッターの流動を抑えて一方向から加熱したモデル加熱Iの結果,スポンジは温度上昇が速く,バターを含むバタースポンジとパウンドの温度上昇は同程度遅れた。従ってバッターの熱伝導は製法の違いよりもバッター構成成分(バター有無)の影響を大きく受けるといえた。また加熱特性値を求めたモデル加熱IIからも同様の結果を得た。これらのことから成分の違いがバッターの有効熱伝導度に影響を与えることが認められた。3.既報でバタースポンジの温度上昇がパウンドほどには遅れなかった原因は,バタースポンジバッターの比重が小さかったためと考えられ,バッターの熱の伝わりやすさには有効熱伝導度よりも比重の影響が大きく関与すると考えられた。4.ケーキ形状は周囲部が焼き固まる時期に中央部の膨化が進行中か終了しているかで決まり,これにはバッターの熱の伝わりやすさが影響し,この熱の伝わりやすさには比重が大きく関与した。

日本語学習者の読解上の問題点を知るために、外国人の5つのグループ、比較するための日本語母語話者グループ、あわせて6グループの日本語と英語テキストの読解における眼球運動を計測した。視線データから読解時の被験者の視線移動の場所について調べたところ、中間圏、非漢字圏グループは1〜2文字前方への移動を、漢字圏グループは3〜4文字前方への移動を多用する傾向がみられた。また、日本語圏グループは飛ばし読みと戻り読みを多用する傾向が見られた。本稿ではこれらの結果について報告する。

The paper reports on the development of a condensing water heater with a thermal efficiency of 95 percent (based on the net calorific value at maximum rated output) and thermal output of 35 kilowatts. The thermal efficiency of conventional instantaneous water heaters is around 80%. Fitting a highly durable latent heat exchanger to recover even the latent heat in the steam in the exhaust gas gives the unit a thermal efficiency of 95%, a world best for an instantaneous water heater. The unit is equipped with a full primary combustion ceramic burner, reducing emissions of NO_x (crucial to global environmental protection) to 30ppm, half the level of emissions of current low NO_x water heaters. The heater was injected into the market in October 1999.

Chemical reactions play important roles in biological functions. In order to elucidate molecular mechanism of the chemical reactions in biosystems, so-called hybrid quantum mechanical/molecular mechanical (QM/MM) methods have been developed and applied to many biochemical reactions recently. The methods permit one to calculate electronic states of reaction substrate molecules in protein binding pockets by taking into account molecular interactions with the surrounding protein environment. In this review, we survey our QM/MM studies for chemical reactions in rhodopsin photoreceptor proteins and F1-ATP synthase along with a brief introduction of the methodology.

社会的背景として,少子高齢化社会が進行する中で,世界各国で医療費の増大を抑制することが急務となっている.当社ではその課題に対して,治療から予防へのパラダイムシフトを行う情報通信技術の検討を進めている.具体的な取組みとして,在宅ヘルスケア支援システムを開発し,米国を中心に事業化を行っている.また医療サービス,医療センサ,IT,電気の各分野を代表する企業とともにContinua Health Allianceの設立を行っている.ここでは家庭における遠隔医療業界の動向を中心に紹介する.

A modification method of finite element meshes based on the adaptive meshing for optimization of electric machines is proposed. In the optimization process of the machine, the proposed method generates the mesh for the new shape from the previous mesh with minor modification. The locations of the nodes for the new shape are decided by solving the Laplace's equation, whose unknowns are displacements of the nodes. The advantages are clarified by the application to the shape optimization of an IPM motor.
