For many Japanese, it seems to be difficult to assume that growing success of Nollywood would be in relation with some "SFX" techniques for mysterious teleport and magical transforming, which resonate so much with the audiences in local contexts. This article examines recent 31 Yoruba Nollywood movies which were selected randomly from the online guide of the AM Yoruba. 22 contents out of the 31 include mysterious or magical scenes and 6 are peculiarly involved with "money rituals". 9 are without any magical setting and more than half of them focus on domestic problems which are familiar with Japanese audiences. But many contents with magical scenes, too, raise issues for family relationships. The article explores common features and differences between the two kinds of contents and suggests that those movies which contain mysterious settings would dramatize ordinary issues with very localized idioms although they reflect harsh situation or crisis of everyday life.

本稿の目的は,子どもの視点からひとり親家庭研究に新たな理論的視角を提示することにある。これまでのひとり親家庭に関する研究は,彼らの生活を経済的な不利に収束しがちであったこと,子どもを主体として捉えることがなされてこなかったことなどの課題を残していた。そこで本稿はひとり親家庭の子どもに対する聞き取りから得られたデータを基に,ひとり親家庭という構造の中で子どもが主体としてどのように生き抜こうとしているのかについて検討した。<BR> 調査より明らかにされたのは以下の二点である。第一に,彼らは自己の家庭経験にアンビバレントな感情を持ちながらも自己の家庭経験を肯定的に理解しようとしている。第二に,同居親との関わりには多様性があったが,同居親以外のつながりを豊富に持ち,それを活かしながらうまく生き抜こうとしている。<BR> このことから二つの次元における承認の重要性が導き出された。第一に,ひとり親の子どもたちにとって,自己の複雑な家庭経験を正当なものとして理解するために自己・他者からの承認を要している。そしてその役割を果たしているのが,同じひとり親の子どもであった。第二に,ひとり親家庭であることに対して周囲から承認を得ることによって,彼らは家庭外の豊富なつながりを持つ基盤を獲得している。<BR> 以上より,本稿は従来から指摘されてきた経済的な再配分に加え,承認の観点が必要であることを提示した。

Das Buch "Japanisches Gespensterbuch", das Ihr wissenschaftliche Erfolg zeigt, gilt nicht nur als die kostbaren Materialien fur die japanische Literatur und Volkskunde wegen der Genauigkeit der darin beschriebenen japanischen Legenden, sondern auch als die raren, um die damalige Ukiyoe Sammlungssituation in Deutschland zu wissen, wegen der vielen Abbildungen in diesem Buch, die meisten Ukiyoe sind und die Sammlern in Deutschland gehoren.

The earthquake and tsunami damages caused by the Hoei earthquake of 1707 are investigated from collected old documents for understanding the damage locality and the occurrence characteristics of an earthquake in off Tokaido and Nankaido districts. The distribution of seismic intensity and tsunami inundation heights are also studied. Tokaido and Nankaido districts along the Pacific coasts were hit by the tsunami of this earthquake. Most severe inundation heights are estimated at about twenty six meters at Kure in Kochi Prefecture, Shikoku, Japan. This earthquake is considered to be formed of two earthquakes, of which epicenters are assumed as longitude 137.8°E, latitude 34.1°N in Enshunada (Tokaido) and longitude 134.8°E, latitude 33.2°N off west of Kii Peninsula (Nankaido), respectively. Time interval of these two Tokai and Nankai earthquakes is estimated at about 1-2 hours. It is estimated that more than thirty thousand peoples were drowned and more than thirty thousand houses were wrecked or washed away in total by the Hoei earthquake and tsunami. The magnitude of the Hoei earthquake is estimated at 8.3-8.4 for the Tokai and 8.4 for the Nankai earthquake, respectively.

The dynamic constraint relaxation theory predicts crucial roles of the initial diversity and evaluation in creative problem-solving. We reported the experimental evidence supporting these predictions, using an insight problem. The experiments showed that the degrees of making different types of trials and the appropriate evaluation were closely related to individual differences in insight problem-solving, and that evaluation became more appropriate by making the problem-solving goal explicit. The review of the research in related fields showed that these experimental findings were in congruent with the evidence obtained from different types of creative activities.

Compared with dogs (<I>Canis familiaris</I>), the social cognitive abilities of cats (<I>Felis catus</I>) have not received much research attention, probably because cats are not considered to be as social as dogs. However, cats have in fact developed sociality in conspecifics and, needless to say, cat-human relationships after their domestication. This paper initially considers the reasons behind the underestimation of cats' social abilities, and then reviews social behavior among conspecifics and in the cat-human relationship. Several studies have provided evidence that cats possess social intelligence. Since their intelligence is considered to be expressed in different context from that of dogs, methods different from those used to study dogs are therefore needed for investigating their social abilities. Appropriate experiments or devices will undoubtedly unravel the high social intelligence of cats.
