Children’s community sports require assistance of parents, such as in overseeing practices and in transportation to and from game venues; this means that parents are deeply involved with the teams. Parents have both positive and negative experiences with respect to their children’s sports activities. As a qualitative survey, this study aimed to clarify the kind of negative experiences that mothers have regarding their children’s community sports activities and to explore the conditions necessary for building a better team environment. Eight mothers with children who belonged to the community sports team until “retirement” were interviewed. Through analysis using M-GTA, the six categories were extracted: Problems concerning children’s competitive activities, problems with coaches, difficulties in balancing their own lives and the children’s activities, problems concerning the interference from and expectations of fathers, problems related to roles and duties, and relationship problems between mothers. Based on these results, educational intervention for parents was shown to be necessary, and recommendations for the future sports environment are presented.

The psychology of motivation is a broad and loosely defined field. Furthermore, motivation is a basic psychological process. Few would deny that it is the most important focus of the micro organizational behavior. Traditionally, psychologists have not totally agreed on how to classify the various human motives, but they acknowledge that some motives are unlearned physiologically based. For that reason, it is difficult to comprehend a framework of motive concepts which can predict human behavior. Therefore, the purpose of this paper was to review the motive concept suggested by McClelland(1987), who is most closely associated with the study of achievement motive. Specifically, first we summarized up the measurement and concepts of motive, such as "measures of human motive dispositions", "achievement motive", "power needs", "affiliative motive" and "avoidance motive". In addition, we critically reviewed and discussed them in terms of the definitions of concepts. In conclusion, although we could grasp the implications of each motive concept, there were some ambiguities regarding McClelland's motive concepts. Thus, more elaborate conceptual regulation and detailed explanation of the connections to the concepts seem necessary in order to clarify the notion of motive concepts, because there are a number of motives which lie in a gray area from the viewpoint of human motivation described by McClelland.

Community sports clubs can provide children with adequate opportunities to exercise. However, researchers have indicated certain problems faced by such clubs, which are volunteer associations. The present study conducted an internet based survey and inquired coaches in community sport clubs (N=150) about their work as coaches, about the equipment they use, and about the problems they had faced, among others. Results indicated that coaches usually worked voluntarily, that they attempted to communicate positively with children, and maintained the security of children. On the other hand they had difficulties in maintaining appropriate relationships with parents, in dealing with children having difficult personalities, and in dealing with children that are not serious about playing sports. Although the voices of coaches in community sports clubs were greatly identified, there were certain limitations to the study. Because of the small sample size, we cannot compare responses between different kinds of sports and different goals coaches and parents have.

プログラムの実行単位であるプロセスは,CPU 時間,メインメモリといった種々のリソースを消費する.その中でも,利用可能なメインメモリ量はシステムの安定性に与える影響が大きい.そのため,ユーザは大量にメインメモリを使用するプロセスを把握し,必要に応じてリソース制限を行うなどして,利用可能なメインメモリを一定以上に保つことが望ましい.しかしながら,プロセスはときにユーザの意図しない,大量かつ急速なメモリ消費を行う.既存のオペレーティングシステム (OS) のリソース管理機構では,このような大量のメモリ消費によるシステムの不安定化を未然に防ぐことは難しい.システムでメモリリソースの枯渇が起こった場合に,動作中のプロセスを停止することによって,利用可能なメモリ量を確保するメモリ管理戦略も存在する.しかしながら,この戦略には,不安定化の原因ではないプロセスを誤って停止する問題もある.そこで本発表では,プロセスのメモリ消費のふるまいに基づいた,プロセスのリソース管理を提案する.この提案手法では,プロセスのメインメモリ消費の速度に着目し,問題のあるメモリ消費の予兆を検出する.問題のあるメモリ利用を行ったプロセスについては,スケジューリングから一時除外し,それ以上のシステムの不安定化を防止する.この手法を用いれば,これまで対処が難しかった,ユーザが意図しない,大量かつ急速なメモリ消費を検出することができる.また,その問題のあるメモリ消費に伴うシステムの不安定化を未然に防止することができる.本発表では,その提案手法の設計について議論する.

The skin concentration of topically applied cosmetic active ingredients is very important for evaluating cosmetics. However, a large variation is often observed in finite dose experiments due to the evaporation of volatile components in the formulation and difficulties for applying formulation uniformly. In addition, steady-state skin concentration could not be attained even after several hours of application. In this verification report, we conducted in vitro skin permeation experiment with an infinite dose to confirm whether formulation with the highest skin permeation would also show the highest skin concentration. Three formulations, lotion, milk, and cream, and the mixture of these formulations containing isopropyl methyl phenol (IPMP) as a model ingredient were applied to excised human skin in eight research facilities. The present experiment was conducted with receptor solution containing 1.0% of Brij 98 in order to increase solubility of IPMP in the receptor fluid without changing skin integrity. The obtained results were consistent among the facilities in the following order of skin permeation (lotion>milk>cream≅the mixture) and corresponded with that of the skin concentration. This result showed that evaluation of topical formulations with in vitro skin permeation experiment with an infinite dose could identify the formulation which exhibited the highest steady-state skin concentration of cosmetic active ingredients. In addition, experiment with mixture formulation might reveal changes in skin permeability associated with changes in thermodynamic activity of IPMP after co-application of several formulations on the skin.

Playing sports occupies an important place in the life of elementary school children. Community sport clubs can provide children with adequate opportunities to exercise. However, researchers have indicated certain problems faced by such clubs, due to their status of being volunteer associations.    The present study investigated problems faced by community based junior sports clubs in Japan, from the perspective of coaches participating in these clubs as volunteers. An online survey was conducted with sports coaches who had experience in coaching team sports in community based junior sport clubs in Japan (N = 456). A questionnaire asked coaches about the type of sports they led (football, baseball, basketball, or volleyball), their confidence as a coach, and their shortcomings in different domains, including the lack of coaching skills, lack of event skills and lack of knowledge about child development, etc., as well as general shortcomings of coaches in these domains. Results indicated that many coaches felt they lacked coaching skills, athletic skills, and knowledge about child development. A multiple regression analysis indicated that training in coaching skills and event skills could enhance their confidence as coaches, and this was found to increase their improvement motivation. It is also suggested that there is a need to develop methods to develop skills of coaches, because many coaches are busy.

潰瘍性大腸炎に慢性関節リウマチ様の末梢型関節炎がみられることはよく知られているが,真の慢性関節リウマチと潰瘍性大腸炎の合併はまれである.われわれは慢性関節リウマチの治療中に発症した潰瘍性大腸炎の1例を経験した.症例は37歳の女性で,昭和51年7月頃より関節症状出現,53年7月典型的慢性関節リウマチと診断された.非ステロイド性抗炎症剤の内服,ステロイド剤の関節内注入により治療されていたが,58年2月頃より消化器症状が出現した.同年8月当科入院,潰瘍性大腸炎(左側大腸炎型,活動期,重症,初回発作型)と診断された.潰瘍性大腸炎は絶食とサラゾスルファピリジン,プレドニゾロンなどの全身投与により寛解した.慢性関節リウマチにみられる潰瘍性大腸炎以外の病変についても文献的に考察した.

The purpose of this study was to examine impact of vulnerability on mental health among Japanese university athletes according to the weakest link model. The subjects of the survey were 689 university athletes (men = 467, women = 222, mean age = 19.9, SD = 1.24) belonging to the sports club activity of the university, and the survey was conducted in October 2017. The analysis showed that women athletes scored significantly higher mental health than men athletes, demonstrating that women athletes had poorer mental health than men athletes. In addition, the mental health of athletes with high vulnerability was showed to bad, and suggesting that those who are high vulnerable are about twice as likely to deteriorate in mental health as those who are low vulnerable. These results indicate the need to take an approach to maintaining good mental health for vulnerable athletes.

Yips is a long-term movement disorder consisting of fitful involuntary movements that occur in elaborate-skill-demanded motor behavior. Japanese baseball players have physical symptoms (i.e., sense of wrist being locked) and psychological symptoms (i.e., negative thinking) due to the onset of yips. Although, clinical psychological approaches with the goal of declining yips symptoms, improvement methods that can be easily carried out by on-site coaches and teammates have not been clarified. In order to establish easy-carrying improvement methods, the actual condition of yips player's surroundings should be clarified, but in fact, how yips players are supported by coaches and teammates also not yet been clarified. Thus, the purpose of this study was clarifying the actual supports that yips baseball player received from their teammates using qualitive study method. Result showed that teammates of yips baseball players do "Technical guidance," "Acceptance for yips symptoms," "Introduction of professional," "Proposal of practice menu," "Support for acceptance of yips symptoms." These supports correspond the concepts of social support.

This study aimed at creating scales for measuring organizational retaliatory behaviors that would occur as a result of friction or conflict in human relationships between nurses in hospitals and may adversely affect patients, and finding the relationship of the organizational retaliatory behaviors with the emotional commitments and feelings of self-esteem.With 1439 nurses participating the survey, this study established a cause-and-effect model where the factors for nurse organizational retaliatory behaviors namely "enervation," "unskillfulness," "self-indulgence" were dependent variables, and feelings of self-esteem, emotional commitments, and affirmative feeling were the primary causes. Then, using the Structural Equation modeling, we examined if the model matched with the data. As a result, it was confirmed that the model matched with the data (CFI=0.945, RMSEA=0.049), suggesting that the factors reducing the organizational retaliatory behaviors should be considered.

本研究では、スポーツに関わるいやがらせを「スポーツハラスメント」ととらえ、親要因を含めたスポーツハラスメントモデルを構築し検証した。1年目は、スポーツペアレンティングや親同士の人間関係に関するレビューを行い、続いて質的調査として親インタビューとコーチインタビューを実施した。2年目は、量的調査として親および親を対象としたオンライン調査を実施した。3年目の最終年度は、アメリカ人の地域スポーツのコーチを交え、アメリカの現状と日本の現状の比較を行った。最後に1年目、2年目の調査結果とアメリカでの現状を踏まえスポーツハラスメント防止のためのオンライン教材を開発し社会的還元を行った。

The purpose of this study was to clarify the subjective feelings of athletes wearing sunglasses while playing sports, using mixed methods research. In Study I, we conducted a free-answered survey, using 50 athletes (Mage = 30.6, SD = 6.6) to clarify subjective feelings of athletes wearing sunglasses while playing sports. Judging from the words of the athletes, data regarding “Physical feelings” (lessening straining of eyes, lessening sensory temperature, fostering performance, improving judgment speed, lessening overstraining, improving visibility, lessening wind effect, preventing drying eyes, and preventing foreign matters entering eyes), and “psychological feelings” (fostering concentration, switching a mood, enhancing motivation, lessening stress, feeling calm, and having psychological distance from others) were extracted. Next, in Study 2, we formed questionnaire items to assess the degree of subjective feelings of wearing sunglasses while playing sports and obtained the responses from 450 athletes (Mage = 21.5, SD = 6.7). We compared the subjective feelings between sports events (track and field, golf, baseball, and tennis). Results showed that track and field athletes scored higher in psychological feelings than baseball and tennis players did. We concluded that there are physical and psychological feelings of athletes regarding wearing sunglasses during sports, and that feelings about wearing sunglasses differ according to the sports events the athletes engage in.

Fans and blowers are used in many kinds of industrial fields. The targets for the development are high efficiency, low costs, high reliability and low noise. The reduction of the noise is one of the most important issues for the axial fan. In this research the effect of the blade sweep on the performance and the flow field is investigated by using CFD. By using the results of the numerical study, y500mm prototype axial fan is manufactured and carried out experiments for performance and noise. The effect of the sweep on the performance and the noise are clarified. The influence of rotating stall and back flow on the noise is experimentally clarified.

大型発電用ガスタービンの開発は,これ迄コンバインドサイクル発電設備の主機として熱効率の向上に注力してきた。一方で,地球環境を取り巻く情勢は刻々と深刻化しており,最近では地球温暖化による異常気象のニュースを目にする機会が増える中,日本は2005年2月に発効された京都議定書の削減目標を確実に達成する事が求められている。この様な状況下,2004年度から4年間のスケジュールで,1700℃級高効率ガスタービンの要素技術開発の国家プロジェクトが開始された。1700℃級ガスタービンが実用化した場合,125万kWの石炭焚き火力を、同ガスタービンを利用したコンバインドプラントに置き換えることで,日本のCO2総排出量の0.4%が削減可能となる。この効果は,京都議定書の削減目標6%と比べた場合非常に大きな値であり,1700℃級ガスタービンの開発成果は日本のみならず全世界へ波及し,地球環境に大いに貢献するものと期待されている。本稿は,この要素開発研究の現在までの取り組み内容と成果及び,今後の予定について紹介する。
