The debate over non-discriminatory language versus freedom of speech has recently become more heated in Japan. The 1993 denunciations of allegedly biased expressions used by the well-known novelist Yasutaka Tsutsui and his reaction to those attacks in which he announced his decision to cease all writing activity in protest set off considerable reverberations and provoked quite lively debate. An apparent conflict has arisen between the rights of minority groups and freedom of speech, which is a fundamental human right. Why should there be such a conflict? In order to assure the wide acceptance of different cultures and values in Japanese society through the publishing media, guidelines for appropriate use of language are needed. Discussion of such guidelines will contribute to the development of multiculturalism in Japan.

ハンマー投げの室伏広治(ミズノ)が、投てき種目で日本人初の金メダルを獲得した2004年のアテネ五輪。この時、同じ投てき種目男子で「日本の金E銀E銅メダル独占」があった。しかも1996年のアトランタ五輪以来「3大会連続で金E銀E銅」という快挙だ。 その種目が砲丸投げ。ただしこちらの栄冠は選手ではなく、スポーツ用具としての砲丸が得たものだ。 埼玉県富士見市。

目的:褥瘡の治癒過程に大きな影響を与える看護・介護・治療の要因を統一し,栄養介入が栄養状態と褥瘡治癒に及ぼす効果を多施設共同ランダム化割付並行群間比較試験で検討した.方法:ステージIII~IV(NPUAP分類)の褥瘡が仙骨,尾骨,大転子,踵のいずれかにあり,経管栄養を必要とする低栄養患者を対象とした.対照群は研究登録時と同じ,または基礎エネルギー消費量(BEE)×活動係数1.1×ストレス係数1.1~1.3とし,介入群はBEE×1.1×1.3~1.5を目標投与エネルギー量とした.研究期間は12週間とした.栄養剤はラコール®配合経腸用液に統一し,体圧分散マットレスの種類,体位変換の方法,治療用薬剤,創傷ドレッシング材を規定した.評価は褥瘡サイズ(長径×短径)および栄養状態(身体指標および臨床検査値)の推移,有害事象で行った.目標症例数はそれぞれ30症例以上とした.結果:体重あたりの1日平均投与エネルギー量は対照群29.1±4.9 kcal/kg(mean±SD)(n=29),介入群37.9±6.5 kcal/kg(n=21)であった.褥瘡サイズは栄養介入の有無と観察週数の交互作用に有意差(P<0.001)が認められた.栄養状態は体重,腹囲,Cu(P<0.001),腸骨棘上部皮下脂肪厚(P<0.01),大腿囲,Prealbumin(P<0.05)に対し,有意差が認められた.本研究に起因する有害事象の発現率に有意差は認められなかった(P=0.360).また,主成分分析および共分散構造分析により,介入群は特に褥瘡サイズの減少および腹囲,腸骨棘上部皮下脂肪厚の改善速度が顕著であり,栄養介入が褥瘡サイズの減少とこれらの身体指標に直接的な影響をもたらすことが検出された.結論:積極的なエネルギー投与を行うことにより,通常の栄養管理と比較して栄養状態がより改善し,かつ褥瘡の治癒が促進された.また,栄養介入は褥瘡サイズの減少に直接的な影響を及ぼすことが検出された.

The term "negative conditional forms" shall in this article refer to verb forms in Japanese that formally contain the negative nai and one of the conditional endings: V-(a)naito, V-(a)nakereba, V-(a)nakattara, V-(a)nai nara (V: verb stem). "Negative conditional sentence" shall refer to a sentence that contains one of the negative conditional forms. Negative conditional sentences in some usage (such as ame ga hur-anaito komaru. 'It will be a bother IF it does NOT rain.') convey that the situation of the proposition (for it to rain) is desired. The present article, focusing on the V-(a)nto, the Kyushu-Chugoku-Shikoku verbal form corresponding to Standard V-(a)naito, argues that V-(a)nto, along with some other species of negative conditional forms, is ambiguous between conveying the desirability of the proposition (the speaker wants it to rain) and conveying the negation of the predicate (not raining): it can mean either, but not both at a time. Thus, negation does not "get overlaid with" desirability, but negation "alternates with" desirability. This claim is motivated by the following observations in Kyushu-Chugoku-Shikoku Japanese. The auxiliary verb ok-u 'put, keep' in one of its usages gets suffixed to a non-volitional predicate: ex. keeki ni ichigo ga nott-ok-anto sabisii kanji ni naru. 'Something feels missing IF a cake does NOT have a strawberry on it.' Ok-u in this usage only occurs in contexts conveying desirability. Contrary to this, negative polarity items such as nanimo 'anything' only occur in contexts conveying negation. Inside the V-(a)nto clause, negation and desirability are distributed complementarily: either of them can occur but both cannot co-occur. This and other similar observations lead us to conclude that the V-(a)nto clause can convey either negation or desirability in different times but not both at a time.

Neutrophil extracellular traps(NETs)は、好中球のクロマチンが網状構造に変化して病原微生物を捉える生体防御機構である。近年、NETs成分が血小板を刺激して血栓症を誘発することが新たな病態として注目されている。本研究では、NETs形成の分子機構の解明、血小板血栓を惹起するNETs成分の同定、さらに血栓症の早期診断法の開発を目ざしている。これまでの研究で、1)質量分析法によりNETs形成過程に特異的な翻訳後修飾を含むタンパク質を見いだし、2)遺伝子編集技術(CRISPR/Cas9)を利用して候補タンパク質のノックアウト(KO)型好中球モデルを作成した。そこで令和1年度は、KO型好中球モデルを用いてNETs形成への影響を解析するとともに、NETs形成で放出される分子の中で、血小板を刺激する候補分子を探索した。具体的には、ヒト白血病細胞株、HL60を親株として、PDIファミリータンパク質のP4HB、プロテインS100ファミリータンパク質のプロテインS100A8およびS100A9、チロシンキナーゼ、SykのKO細胞について取り組んだ。HL60および各分子のKO型HL60細胞を、ATRA(All-trans retinoic Acid)刺激で好中球様に分化し、1)好中球に特有の分葉核の形成および補体受容体の発現、2)食作用に伴う活性酸素の産生量、3)NETs形成により放出されるタンパク質について解析した。その結果、1)P4HB-KOにより核分葉が抑制されること、2)Syk-KOにより活性酸素産生が抑制されること、3)親株であるHL60では、NETs形成に伴い、プロテインS100A8とS100A9が、炎症性サイトカインと共に放出されることを見出した。今後さらに解析を進めて、NETs形成機構の解明、血小板血栓を惹起するNETs成分の同定をめざす。

Since human genome sequencing has been almost completed, human genome project will quickly move on to the post genome sequencing era towards the future personalized medicine. Capillary array electrophoresis with 96-384 capillaries plays a vital role in the genome sequencing era and the eight to nine order increase in DNA sequencing efficiency was achieved during last three decades. But in the post genome sequencing era, further development of analytical technology for DNA, mRNA, protein, and metabolites is highly required. Such drastic improvement in speed and cost for sequencing requires aggressive technological innovation fuelled by major investment. Improvements are needed to move current dideoxy sequencing to smaller volumes and more rapid sequencing times, based upon advances such as microchannel electrophoresis. More revolutionary methods, such as mass spectrometry (MS) and nanotechnology including single-molecule sequencing and nanopore approaches, have note been fully developed, but hold great promise and deserve strong encouragement. The microchip-based technology will be a key technology in the post-genome sequencing era, since even revolutionary methods as well as microchannel electrophoresis will be able to develop on a chip. Recent progress in microfabrication and nanofabrication technologies based on computer chip technique induces the new research area for integrated microchip and nanochip technology. Investigation of integrated microchip technology is developing towards the integration for whole steps required for the personalized medicine.

Seven specimens of fishes and three specimens of crabs were collected with drifting algae by T/S Oshoro-maru from off the Pacific coast of Tohoku region, northern Japan. In fishes, a single specimen was identified as Histrio histrio (Linnaeus, 1758), five specimens as Oplegnathus punctatus (Temminck and Schlegel, 1844) and a single specimen as Stephanolepis cirrhifer (Temminck and Schlegel, 1850). In crabs, except a single specimen of megalopa, a single specimen was identified as Guinusia dentipes (De Haan, 1835) and a single specimen as Portunus (Portunus) sanguinolentus sanguinolentus (Herbst, 1783). Because previous northernmost records of P. (P.) sanguinolentus sanguinolentus were reported from Boso Peninsula in the Pacific Ocean and Akita Prefecture in the Sea of Japan, the present specimen represents the northernmost record of the species in the Pacific Ocean.

本研究は,回復期リハビリテーション病棟に入院した脳血管障害患者がその入院生活時に何をきっかけに自身の生活に再び目を向けることができたのかを探ることを目的とした。入院生活時に自身の病前生活に目を向けていたと判断され,現在地域生活を行っている3名に対し,半構造化面接を行い得られた資料の分析を行った。資料の内容分析を通して5つの共通項目が得られた。それらは「病前生活での自身の役割の明確な再認識の機会」と「作業療法場面での家事活動」が,生活に目を向けるきっかけとして,「病前の具体的な役割の存在」「前向きな考え方」「病気の体験を今後の生活にプラスに活かす姿勢」が,きっかけを導く背景の項目として挙げられた。このことから,患者一人ひとりの病前の役割や習慣的な活動を訓練に活かす事が,生活に目を向けるきっかけとなる可能性が示唆された。今後,患者の病前生活の情報を得る技能が必要になると思われた。

This study was designed to analyze a world class and a Japanese middle-distance runners in women's 800 m finals of the international athletic games based on kinematic data, and to get insight into the basic middle-distance running technique. The performances of Qu yunxia, the world record holder of female 1,500 m and Kumiko Okamoto, the Japan record holder of female 800 m were video-taped with a video camera operating at 60 Hz with exposure time of 1/500 and 1/1000 s. Selected kinematic variables of the center of gravity (C.G), the segment endpoints and rotational energy of the lower limbs were investigated. Some differences of performance were found between Qu and Kumiko in running form. The C.G of Kumiko's up-down motion on vertical direction was about 14% larger; her deceleration in horizontal direction was 48% larger and her up-down motion of C.G of the feet was about 26% than Qu. The larger action of the foot breaking contact with the ground of Kumiko caused a greater loss of horizontal velocity of C.G. The larger flexion of the knee-joint of Kumiko consumes the greater rotational energy than Qu during the recovery phase.

フリー百科事典 Wikipedia は日本語版,英語版,などの各言語版によって記述されている情報量が異なる.故に自国の言語版だけでは情報量が不足する記事も存在する.特に文化の記事は顕著である.そこで本研究では多言語 Wikipedia を用いて,日本と海外における日本の伝統文化の紹介の差異情報を抽出し提示するシステムを提案する.具体的には,ユーザの入力した日本の伝統文化の日本語 Wikipedia と英語 Wikipedia を比較しその差分情報を提示する.この時,情報の粒度の違いから,複数の日本語 Wikipedia の記事と英語 Wikipedia の記事を比較対象とする.本論文では,この比較対象の範囲を Wikipedia のリンク構造を用いて決定する手法の提案及び多言語間の差分情報抽出手法の提案を行う.

The coloration of small individuals of Nozawa’s prickleback, Stichaeus nozawae is presented for the first time, based on a specimen (112 mm SL) collected by T/S Ushio-maru from the Funka Bay, Hokkaido. The specimen has obscure bands on dorsal, anal, caudal and pectoral fins. Although specimens of comparable sizes (57.4-168 mm SL) have obscure bands on these fins, most larger specimens (252-361 mm SL) have no bands on the caudal and pectoral fins. Most descriptions or images in previous studies, including the original description, were based on large specimens (220-450 mm SL), which have no bands on these fins. Thus, bands on caudal and pectoral fins of S. nozawae tend to disappear with growth
