北海道における在来種クロテンMartes zibellinaと外来種ニホンテンM. melampusの分布の現状を明らかにするために,2000年から2015年にかけて生息記録を収集した.その結果,ニホンテンは北海道の南西部,クロテンはそれ以外の地域に広く分布していることが明らかとなった.二つの分布地域の間には石狩低地帯(石狩湾から太平洋にかけて帯状に延びる平野部)があり,クロテンの記録は石狩低地帯内の3地域でも得られた.ただし,この3地域とも石狩低地帯中心部を流れる河川を基準としてすべて低地帯の西側に位置した.今回の結果に数例の古い生息記録を合わせて,次のことが推察された.1)ニホンテンはクロテンを駆逐しながら分布を拡大したこと,2)石狩低地帯の分水嶺より南側では,低地帯の西縁部にニホンテンがまだ到達していない可能性があるが,そうであったとしても到達は間近であること,3)今後,石狩低地帯の分水嶺より南側ではニホンテンが低地帯を超えて,さらに分布拡大が進む可能性があること.

The electronic structure of 4-nitroquinoline N-oxide and related compounds were investigated. The frontier electron density and the approximate superdelocalizability for nucleophilic reaction at the carbon atom to which nitro group is attached had a definite correlation with the carcinogenic activity. This is a support for our proposition that the interaction with the nucleophilic center in the body might be primarily concerned with the production of cancer by all types of chemical carcinogens.

この研究は、文化を構築することで価値創造を行う実践を明らかにし、そのための理論と方法論を構築することである。特に、サービスという文化が深くかかわる領域に着目し、経験的調査を行いつつ、文化構築のための理論を探究する。下記の3つの活動を計画していた。まず最初に、当初の計画通り、サービス場面における相互行為の経験的分析を進めている。具体的には、バーやアパレル場面での相互行為をビデオに記録し、エスノメソドロジーの視座から分析している。バーの調査はセンスメイキング理論に相互主観性を導入する理論的枠組みを提案し、英文ジャーナルに投稿し査読の過程を経ているところである。アパレルの調査は、サービスにおける店員の視線という相互主観性の水準での行為について分析し、その結果を2018年7月の欧州の国際会議(European Group of Organization Studies, EGOS)で発表することが決まっている。次に、計画にある通り、鮨屋に関する文化表象に関するメソレベルの調査も進んでいる。鮨にまつわる言説を整理し、二次データの分析をベースにした研究を7月の国際会議(Consumer Culture Theory)で発表しフィードバックを得た。さらに、それを踏まえて、鮨おたくと呼ばれる方々数名へのインタビューを実施した。今後このデータを分析しつつ、追加でインタビューを計画している。最後に、計画にある理論構築に関しては、バーやアパレルデータの分析にともない、相互主観性を基礎としたサービスの価値共創を概念化している。2月には南洋理工大学の消費者文化の研究者、12月と3月にはコペンハーゲンビジネススクールの組織論・哲学の研究者2名と国内で議論をする場を持ち、理論構築を進めた。この内容を論文として完成し、2018年中に公刊されるサービス科学の中心的ハンドブックに含まれることが決まっている。

The purpose of this research was to examine disputant's cognitive processes in a civil suit empirically. We analyzed the data which was gathered by The Judicial Reform Council. We assumed that a disputant who wishes to reduce costs for suit often chooses settlement procedure in the judicial process and who thinks highly of the judge is more likely to accept judge's proposition. Although we could not confirm the effect of cost anxiety, the results suggested that a good impression forward the judge promotes reaching settlement. It was also suggested that corporations are apt to compound more than natural persons. In addition, analysis of effect of settlement indicated that reaching settlement promotes acceptance, agreement and satisfaction about unfavorable outcomes.

Stress drop is important parameter to understand earthquake source characteristics and to improve hazard assessment. Many studies use the spectral ratio method to measure the moment ratio and two corner frequencies by comparing theoretical and observed spectral ratio in the frequency domain and obtain the stress drop. Accurate stress drop estimates are difficult to make because it depends on the accuracy of the three parameters. The Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method is effective to estimate high dimensional parameters. In this study, we evaluate the uncertainty of the estimation and trade-off among parameters from a statistical perspective.We analyzed five clusters of events near Cushing, Oklahoma, each containing a M 4+ event. Empirical Green’s function events used as the denominator all locate within 2 km of the target event. We analyzed 5.12 seconds of the time-aligned seismogram from twice the S wave arrival time. Spectral ratios between a large event (ML > 4) and small events were formed by stacking all stations to remove path effects. Then, analyzed spectral ratios between event pairs using the Metropolis-Hastings algorithm to estimate moment ratio and two corner frequencies for the Brune model. We updated the value of moment ratio and two corner frequencies with 300,000 iterations which first 100,000 calculations was ignored as burn-in.In most cases, the distribution of the sampling showed ellipsoidal shape in the 3D parameter space. We searched the axial direction of the sampling distribution by principal component analysis (PCA), and estimated loadings of the principal component and contribution rate. Some spectral ratio showed irregular shape from ideal shape because of small magnitude difference or contamination by noise. The percentage of the contribution rate indicates how well the sampling distribution is explained by each component. The contribution rate of the first principal component with irregular shape of the spectral ratio was lower than 80 % while it was higher than 80 % with normal shape of the spectral ratio. The loadings among three parameters and three principal components also showed different pattern in the case of normal shape and irregular shape of the spectral ratio. These different trend of the contribution rate and the loadings indicates different pattern of the sampling distribution of a spectral ratio that have irregular shape. Thus, the combination of MCMC and PCA analysis have a possibility that to automatically classify spectral ratios which have irregular shape and ideal shape.

MILCOM (Military Communication Conference; IEEE, AFCEA 共催) は米国産官学を中心とする防衛通信の一大イベントで,毎年米国各都市で開催される.28 回めとなる MILCOM 2009は10月18~21日に米ボストンで開催される.本発表ではこの参加報告を行なう.(AFCEA: Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association)MILCOM (Military Communication Conference) is a prime conference of defense communication with military, university, and industry, co-sponsored by IEEE, AFCEA, held every year in the United States. MILCOM 2009 is the 28th conference and held from October 18 to 21 in Boston, Massachusetts. This presentation reports the MILCOM 2009. Equations for evaluating the performances of a failure detection system, whose task is to detect changes of some parameters in an object system, are derived as functions of the design parameters in the detection system and a design method of the detection system based on the equations is proposed. This detection system consists of the Kalman filters and the Modified Sequential Probability Ratio Test. The usefulness of this design method is examined by means of numerical simulations for the parameter changes in a second order system and for the failure in an aircraft stability augumentation system.

Kazuo Ishiguro's latest novel The Buried Giant contains unfamiliar and familiar elements for the Ishiguro reader. The landscape is 6th century Britain where the shadow of King Arthur remains as do mythical creatures, prompting some to classify this book as fantasy. What is familiar is Ishiguro's focus on memory. Yet, the approach toward memory here is different. In previous books, the memories explored were those that belonged to an individual who was recalling them, sorting through them, and trying to make sense of the past. In this story, the memories have been forcefully removed from the characters, so their struggle becomes one of attempting to recall any basic fact of their past, rather than interpret them. This loss of the psychological dimension to memory makes the discussion of it less interesting than previous attempts. In addition, memories have been removed from the general population in an attempt to avert violent conflict. Again, because this has been done magically, it removes any interesting parallels to efforts in conflict resolution to address collective memory in the process of reconciliation. In the end, the story is compelling and memorable, but lacks depth. カズオ・イシグロの最新長編『忘れられた巨人』には、彼の愛好家にとっては、なじみのある要素と、そうでない要素が含まれている。舞台は6世紀のイギリスで、アーサー王の影が神話の生き物のように描かれており、そのせいで、この本をファンタジーとして分類することも出来る。なじみのある点とは、記憶に焦点を当てていることだ。しかし、この作品での記憶へのアプローチの仕方はこれまでの作品とは異なる。これまでは、記憶というものは、個人に属しており、人は昔を思い出し、並べ替えて、過去を理解しようとするものであった。一方この作品では、記憶は強制的に登場人物から取り除かれているので、彼らは記憶を解釈するというよりも、過去の基本的な事実を思いだそうとするように描かれている。この記憶に対する心理的な面がないということは、この作品が、これまでの作品で試みられたことよりも劣っている評価につながるのではないだろうか。民族間の争いを回避するために、集団からも記憶が削除されている。これは魔法のように行われている。民族間の和解の過程で集団の記憶を取り除くことは、紛争解決の際に起こることである。 この作品は説得力があり、印象的な作品ではあるものの、知的な面を深める点ではこれまでの作品に劣る印象である。

The recitation of waka by the mononoke(possessing spirits)in the Genji Monogatari is a highly unusual phenomenon to judge from other records of the day. The poems recited by Lady Rokujo in "Aoi" and "Wakana, Part Two" are not simply compositions by the author. The first is based on magical chants or magical poems, thought to have been orally recited, and the latter resembles a poem transmitted as Komachi's Composition. In these waka it is possible to distinguish between a surface, prose-like, expository aspect and an underlying oral dimension.
