アルコール性肝障害の病態はエタノール代謝による肝細胞の生化学的変化から代謝異常を呈し,肝脂肪化,酸化ストレス,脂質過酸化がおきて発症,進行する.本稿では慢性飲酒にともなう脂質代謝を中心とした代謝異常,酸化ストレスの発現メカニズムを概説し,さらに酸化ストレスを促進する環境因子である食餌内容と病態との関連,肝障害に対する飲酒とメタボリック症候群との相加・相乗効果に関して述べる.

The purpose of this paper is to make clear the change of wartime finance policy in the end of the war against China and analyze its backgrownd of money market. The characteristic of monetary policy during the war against China was nationwide mobilization of funds for the public loan and strategic industries. This mobilization made the financial structure unstable and lead it to reorganization. In deposit market concentration trend turned. Some provincial banks, especially influential ones grew big rapidly partly owing to the amalgamation movement. The cheep money policy in local money market and the funds control policy made provincial banks change their banking operation, rush in the urban money market. The advance competition became intense. That was a result of the control policy. But large equipment funds controled by financial adjustment law was supplied by a few financial organs oligopolistically. They had organized joint financing groups excluding other banks. Influential provincial banks increased advance as rapidly as big banks, but they supplied funds for newly rising or subcontract enterprises with some risk. After the outbreak of WWII, risky advance competition was going to result in credit crisis. Ministry of finance and Bank of Japan requested financial circles to organize a council of financial association aiming at stabilization of money market. Local Banker's Association joined it positively aiming at extending finance of the strategic industries through co-operation with monetary policy, so did big banks aiming at maintaining oligopoly. Thus the organization of financial constitutions was promoted with conflict objects.

"The death of essentialism" has been widely accepted in biology and philosophy of biology for more than half a century, but recently essentialism seems to raise its head again. The purpose of this paper is to criticize one particular type of "new essentialism" called the homeostatic property cluster view of the species category. According to this view, there is the causal entanglement of properties that creates the biological units recognized as species. However, there is a significant biological phenomenon called lateral gene transfer, which undoes the entanglement, especially in microorganisms. Thus, I conclude that the view is untenable in light of our current biological knowledge, including microbiological one. In addition, I consider the reasons why we should reject species eliminativism even if we accept anti-essentialism and species pluralism.

Interest in pet robots and virtual pets is currently increasing along with the pet boom. Pet robots and virtual pets have been found to be therapeutic. However, what characteristics of pet robots and virtual pets are therapeutically effective have yet to be clarified. In this study, we carried out experiments to compare the therapeutic effects between pet robots and virtual pets in terms of physical embodiment from psychological and physiological aspects. Psychological evaluation results showed that the reduction in the tension score and increase in the vigor score with pet robots were significantly higher than those with virtual pets. Physiological evaluation results showed that the increase in the percentage of alpha waves with pet robots was significantly higher than that with virtual pets. These results suggest that physical interaction is an element for reducing mental strain and improving vitality.

生活保護において、2004年度より、生活保護制度の運営実施機関が組織的に生活保護受給世帯の自立を支援する制度に転換することを目的とする自立支援プログラムが導入された。そこで、全国に先駆け首都大学東京と官学連携し自立支援プログラム・個別支援プログラムの策定とその評価事業に取り組んだP自治体の各種プログラムの概要、評価結果と課題、今後の展望について明らかにする。

Description is given of the properties of aluminium foil as well as of its present use for packaging, insulation, decoration and capacitor with some examples.With our increasing knowledge of the properties of aluminium foil the use of aluminium foil has been greatly accelerated, and the improvement of laboratorial methods and manufacturing technique concerning embossing, printing and lacquering has made new applications possible.With the downward trend in prices and increasing interests of customers aluminium foil seems to to have the bright future finding new fields for more applications.

筆者は拙稿「日本における民族の創造」(大阪経済法科大学『アジア太平洋レビュー』第5号、2008年9月)で、1880年代末の日本で「民族」という言葉・概念が生じてから、どのよう に民族が創造されてきたかを、大和民族(1888年初出)と出雲民族(1896年初出)を対比しながら検証した。本稿では民族の三要素(歴史・文化、言語、宗教)の中で、日本の中ではより単一だと思われがちな言語に焦点をあてて、単一・同質だといわれるものの内部から、その幻想を解体してみたいと思う。
