神奈川県周辺におけるタヌキ Nyctereutes procyonoides の体サイズの変異に疥癬が与える影響を調査した。体重には季節変異があり、冬は大きく、夏は小さい傾向が見られた。しかし、この傾向は疥癬症に罹患した個体には見られなかった。夏季には、疥癬非罹患個体の中にも罹患個体より体重の小さい個体が見られたことから、疥癬による削痩が直接的な死因になることは少ないと考えられる。一方で、冬季には疥癬罹患個体と非罹患個体の体重に差が見られた。このことから、罹患個体が冬の寒さに耐えられるだけの十分な脂肪を蓄積できていないことが、罹患個体の直接の死因と推測される。サイズを示す計測項目間の相関検定においては、全ての組み合わせで有意な相関がみられたが、いずれも相関性は弱かった。このような相関のパターンは、疥癬によってもたらされる形態的変化には影響されないと考えられた。サイズを示す計測項目間で相関が小さいことは、タヌキの形態的特徴の一つであると考えられる。

Lure fishing is a well-known type of fishing that uses artificial lures instead of traditional live baits. Vibratory lure is a kind of lures performs greater vibration behavior than other kinds of lures. In common, more excellent vibration behavior of vibrating lure can attract carnivorous fish more efficiently. Up to now, lure design is generally based on the intuition of the designer, and there is little academic research on vibrating lure. In this study, we build the finite element model of a commercial vibration lure using a 3D scanner at first. Then, fluid–structure interaction (FSI) analysis is carried out to reproduce underwater motion of the vibration lure, where we can calculate the frequency of the flow induced vibration (FIV). Finally, in order to obtain the best FIV behavior of the vibration lure, based on the simulation results of FSI analysis, we perform structural design optimization of the vibration lure using the Box-Behnken design method, which belongs to the response surface methodology. In the structural design optimization, we set three design variables, which are the positions (x and z) of the weight placed in the lower part of the lure, and the eye position (i.e., the knot position between fishing line and lure) along the lure body. According to optimal results, the highest frequency of the FIV can reach 7.07 Hz. However, the present work is still in the early stage of the academic research on lure design, we aim to develop more optimization method for lure design that make lure fishing more interesting for both beginners and anglers.

The guideline of pesticide registration in Japan requires vast array of the toxicological studies. The driving principle is to present evidences for apparent toxicity, relevant dose–response, and the threshold as the real dosage in all studies to be written. For carcinogenesis and teratogenesis, when positive, mechanistic studies are mandatory. Otherwise, no mechanistic study would be necessary, because NOAEL should be obtained in all the studies. This is not always real; therefore, additional studies on the mode of action may help establishing the NOAEL. These studies are especially useful in cases with wide species differences in the NOAELs. Examples include (1) PPO inhibitors, (2) strobilurins, (3) simeconazole, (4) macrolide lactones, (5) 4HPPD inhibitors and (6) RyR activators, details of which will appear in the supplement. © Pesticide Science Society of Japan

We report recent progress on adiabatic quantum-flux-parametron (AQFP) logic, which is an energy-efficient superconductor logic based on quantum flux parametron (QFP). The switching energy of an AQFP gate can be arbitrarily reduced via adiabatic switching, in which the shape of the potential energy gradually varies between single-well and double-well shapes as the result of using ac excitation magnetic fluxes. First, we show the operation principle of AQFP and explain adiabatic switching in light of potential energy shapes. We also show calculated switching energy and bit error rates to demonstrate that the switching energy of AQFP can be significantly reduced while keeping a low error rate. Then, we report recently developed AQFP subsystems, which include an 8-bit carry look-ahead adder, a register file, and a long-interconnect driver. Our demonstration reveals that AQFP technology is ready to be applied in microprocessor design.

核白内障(nuclear cataract: NUC)の発症要因として,高温環境による影響が報告されている.今回,体温に着目し,水晶体再建術施行例を対象とし,体温とヒト水晶体上皮細胞(human lens epithelial cells: HLECs)中ミトコンドリア活性およびATP含量の関係,体温とNUC発症リスクの関連について検討した.NUC患者では体温36.5℃以下患者(L群)に比べ36.5℃超過の患者(H群)でHLECs中のミトコンドリアゲノムチトクロムcオキシダーゼmRNA発現量は増加傾向を示した.また,H群におけるATP量はNUC患者が透明水晶体患者に比較し高く,NUC患者ではL群より有意に高値を示した.一方,ロジスティック回帰分析によるL群に対するH群のNUC発症リスクのオッズ比は1.131(95% 信頼区間: 0.583-2.193)であり,有意な関連性は認められなかった.

We develop a power supply that can repeatedly charge and discharge for a renewable energy by using the electric double layer capacitor (EDLC) and a photovoltaic module. We also fabricate the EDLC (charcoal EDLC) for the power supply, which is made of a charcoal and a water-based electrolyte. The charcoal EDLC has a high-safety performance due to the structure of incombustibility and the resistance to the invasion of the water. We fabricate an outdoor lighting system by using the charcoal EDLC and investigate the problems for the long-term operation. The outdoor light system is constructed with the charcoal EDLC (60 Wh), the photovoltaic module (60 W), the LED light device (6 W) and our original control circuit. The results of demonstration experiments show that the developed outdoor light system operates as a power supply for a LED light device in the nighttime in a high efficiency. It is confirmed that the system operates for a long time, but the results also show that there are problems such as incomplete charcoal EDLC sealing and electric resistance rise due to electric terminal corrosion from the test results for 2 years and 4 months after installation.

本研究では、東京23区で開催されている手づくり市の中で「あかぎマルシェ」「品川てづくり市」を対象に、出店している作り手と周辺地域の活動に着目し、地域において手づくり市を開催することの価値を明らかにする。結論として、個人主催の手づくり市に出店している作り手が周辺地域に広がる活動は、主に文化芸術施設での活動が多く、これらは主催者と文化芸術施設オーナー間の情報共有などのコミュニケーションや、オーナー側の自発的な行為など、その背景は多様であることが二つの対象市からわかった。これらの活動は、既存のまちづくり関連団体や行政では出来ないようなミクロレベルのものであった。以上から個人主催の手づくり市は周辺地域の既存のまちづくり活動を補完し新たなまちを形成する上で価値があると考えられる。
