私は,研究といえば30歳手前で教員になり,通信制大学を卒業,その後大学院へ進学.教員を続けるために学会発表,論文執筆を行ってきた.いわば自分への思いのために行っていた.今思えば,恥ずかしい話である.

The red-crowned crane Grus japonensis in Hokkaido, Japan forms a closed population as a residence that is independent of the mainland population. Based on observations of a limited number of individuals as well as cranes in captivity, red-crowned cranes are omnivores and eat fish, worms, insects and plants in their own territories except in winter, when they are fed with dent corn that is supplied in eastern Hokkaido. DNA metabarcoding based on high throughput sequencing was carried out using universal primer sets for cytochrome oxidase subunit I gene. Feces from 27 chicks collected in June and July in the period from 2016 to 2018 and intestinal contents from 33 adult and subadult cranes that were found dead almost throughout year in 2006–2013 in the field in eastern Hokkaido were used. Although compositions varied considerably in the cranes, both insects and fish were found in adults and subadults to the same extents, while insects were predominant in chicks. Both insects and fish were detected in all seasons for adults and subadults. Horse flies, scarab beetles and weevils accounted for the most of the insects regardless of the life stage. Dace, stickleback, flatfish and sculpin were the major fish species in adults, while chicks ate almost only stickleback. The results provide the first comprehensive data on carnivorous diets in wild red-crowned cranes in eastern Hokkaido as basis for conservation of red-crowned cranes, for which the life style and area continuing to change.

2017年台風18号が 9月17日11時半頃に鹿児島県薩摩半島を通過し,12時頃に鹿児島県垂水市付近に上陸した。その後は宮崎県を通過して日向灘に抜け,17日16時半頃に高知県西部に再上陸した。その後,台風は兵庫県,北海道に再上陸して,18日21時にサハリンで温帯低気圧となった。台風や活発な前線の影響で豪雨となり,大分県と宮崎県の県境の祖母山系を中心に17日の日降水量が500 mmを超える豪雨域が北西-南東方向に約20 km,北東-南西方向に約10 km の楕円形状の豪雨域が形成されていた。津久見市では17日の 9 時前後に第 1のピーク,11時過ぎに20 mm/10分間を超える豪雨に見舞われ,台風接近時の13~16時には東寄りの風が卓越して約 10 mm/10分間の強雨が継続し,日積算降水量427 mm を記録した。本豪雨により津久見川や支流の彦の内川が氾濫し,標高が低い場所や両河川の合流点付近では最大150 cm前後の浸水痕跡が確認され,住家の半壊,浸水被害が相次いで発生した。本災害による大分県内での住家被害は3,359棟に達し,洪水災害としては近年では甚大な被害であった。

Background: Although bystander cardiopulmonary resuscitation (BCPR) plays an essential role in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) care, little is known about the bystander-patient relationship in the actual setting. This study aimed to assess the disparities in BCPR performed by a family member and that performed by a non-family member.Methods: This population-based observational study involved all adult patients with witnessed OHCAs of medical origin in Niigata City, Japan, between January 2012 and December 2016, according to the Utstein style. We used logistic regression analysis to assess the association between the witnessing person and the probability of providing BCPR. Next, among those who received BCPR, we sought to investigate the difference between BCPR performed by family and that performed by non-family members in terms of whether those who witnessed the arrests actually performed BCPR.Results: During the study period, 818 were eligible for this analysis, with 609 (74.4%) patients witnessed by family and 209 (25.6%) patients witnessed by non-family members. Multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that OHCA patients witnessed by family were less likely to receive BCPR compared to those witnessed by non-family members (260/609 [42.7%] versus 119/209 [56.9%], P = 0.017). Among the witnessed patients for whom BCPR was performed, the proportion of BCPR actually performed by a family member was lower than that performed by a non-family member (242/260 [93.1%] versus 116/119 [97.5%], P = 0.011).Conclusions: In this community-based observational study, we found that a witnessing family member is less likely to perform BCPR than a witnessing non-family member.

『源氏物語』は、中国では「日本の『紅楼夢』」と称されることがよくある。初めて『源氏物語』全文を中国語に翻訳した豊子愷は、かつて「白頭今又訳紅楼(白頭今又『紅楼』を訳す)」と書き、『源氏物語』を翻訳することを、『紅楼夢』を翻訳することに喩えた。『紅楼夢』の研究が中国で「紅学」と称されるのに対し、『源氏物語』の研究は「源学」と称される。近年、中国の『源氏物語』の研究が迅速に進むとともに、『源氏物語』と『紅楼夢』との比較研究は、中国における「源学」研究に占める比重が非常に大きいだけでなく、中国文学と外国文学を含む『紅楼夢』の比較文学の研究においても、それに比肩するのは恐らく『紅楼夢』と『金瓶梅』との比較研究のみである。『源氏物語』がそれほどまでに注目されるのは、主に中国の読者からみれば『源氏物語』が、『紅楼夢』と『金瓶梅』以外に貴族家庭小説の特徴を有し、しかも女性描写への傾注を特色とし、貴族社会を描いた長篇世情小説を提供したためである。

The temporal relationship between the interplate and inland earthquakes of Kyushu Island region was investigated. We analyzed this relationship by stacking the temporal frequency of the inland earthquakes with reference to the occurrence time of each major interplate earthquake in the Hyuga-nada region, that occurred between 1900 and 2000. A good coincidence of occurrence between the inland and the interplate earthquakes is recognized. While the tendency of the occurrence after the interplate events has already been pointed out, we found that the inland earthquakes also tend to occur before the interplate events. Abrupt activation of the inland earthquakes within several months before major interplate earthquakes is recognized in addition to the tendency to occurr afterwards. The preceding inland earthquakes may indicate that they are triggered by precursory slow slips around the hypocenters of the Hyuga-nada earthquakes.

本論文ではファイバースコープの初期頃までに消化管内視鏡の分野で活躍された先覚者と呼ぶに相応しい九州の方々を取り上げてみた.九州の方々としては,(1)九州に本籍がある,(2)九州に生まれた,(3)九州で育った,(4)九州内の学校で学んだ,(5)九州内の医育機関に勤務された方としたが,早く九州を離れた方も含めた.<BR>硬性食道鏡では九大の久保猪之吉の活動が目立ち,硬性胃鏡の時代には同じく九大の三宅 速,宮城 順による本邦最初の報告がある.軟性胃鏡に関しては長崎医大赴任前に中谷が報告している.その後の日本の消化管内視鏡は事実上胃カメラから始まったが,九州内では昭和32年6月第4回胃カメラ研究会に於ける柚木らの報告ならびに同日の第4回消化器病学会九州地方会での佐藤の報告をもって嚆矢とする.<BR>第1回胃カメラ学会は昭和34年6月に開催されたが,この会では熊本大学外科,鹿児島大学佐藤内科,九州厚生年金病院内科からの発表があった.さらに親学会結成前に胃カメラ学会九州支部が設けられ,それ以前には同好会も作られている.<BR>第2回胃カメラ学会総会での九州からの発表者は,やはり大学の方ばかりで,発表者はいずれもその後九州内で指導的立場に立たれた方々ばかりであった.その後地方会も作られた.<BR>学会は昭和36年に日本内視鏡学会へと発展したが,九州地区からの発表はやはり大学が主体で,一般病院からは九州厚生年金病院,鹿児島市立病院に限られていた.<BR>旧制大学は昭和29年に最終卒業生を出したが,内視鏡で活躍された方々は,この年を挟んだ前後数年間の卒業生の方々を主体にしていた.これらの方々は真に先覚者と言える方々であって,それらの活動を詳述した.

Studing on the seismicity around Sakurajima volcano, following preliminary results areobtained.(1) By the projection of focus on the vertical section perpendicular to the volcanic front, clear W-B zone can be perceived. This W-B zone is characterized by the sharp change ofinclination at the depth of 70km 80km. The inclination of Shallower zone is 40-50 degreeswheras about 70 degrees in deeper zone. The thickness of deeper zone is nearly 20km.(2) The depth of seismic surface directly beneth the volcanic front is 100km. Excludingthe shallow earthquakes whose focal depth are less than 20km, no earthquake is observedin the zone between the volcanic front and the seismic surface.(3) Comparing to other island arcs, seismic activity in South Kyushu is low in the depthof 8Okm-120 km whereas high in l4Okm-l6Okm.(4) Preceding to the increasement in number of explosion at Sakurajima volcano, high seis-mic activity in the depth more than 80km was observed.

2017年9月17日は台風18号や活発な前線の影響で豪雨となり, 大分県と宮崎県の県境の祖母山系を中心に17日の日降水量が500mmを超える豪雨域が北西-南東方向に約20km, 北東-南西方向に約10kmの楕円形状の豪雨域が形成されていた。大分県中南部の津久見市では17日の9時前後に第1のピーク, 11時過ぎに20mm/10分間を超える豪雨に見舞われ, 台風接近時の13-16時には東寄りの風が卓越して約10mm/10分間の強雨が継続し, 日積算降水量427mmを記録した。本豪雨により津久見川や支流の彦の内川が氾濫し, 標高が低い場所や両河川の合流点付近では最大150cm前後の浸水痕跡が確認され, 住家の半壊, 浸水被害が相次いで発生した。本災害による大分県内での住家被害は3, 359棟に達し, 洪水災害としては近年では甚大な被害であった。また, 隣接する宮崎県北部の北川水系でも洪水災害に見舞われ, 前年の2016年台風16号の浸水深を超える地域も見受けられた。
