筆者は日本の酵母遺伝学で主導的な仕事をされてきたお一人である。三十余年の研究生活を通じて, 実用酵母を育種する立場から, 常にどのような酵母が必要かを問いつつ, 育種と基礎遺伝学との対応を考えてこられた。ここでは, ビール酵母の硫化水素生成の遺伝を中心に酵母育種に対するお考えの一端を述べていただいた。

Observers of Timorese culture have long maintained a preoccupation with the term Lulik. Its meanings have fluctuated in the past one-and-a-half centuries—with prominent associations including “idolatry,” “the sacred” or “prohibited,” “black magic,” “Timorese animist expression,” or “the core of Timorese culture.” But Timorese have also commonly used the word as an adjective. This paper attempts to trace the origin of the bifurcated usages of the word Lulik through a reading of early missionary efforts to translate Portuguese religious texts into Tetun since the 1870s. In the early European missionaries’ ethnographic reports, Lulik was identified as the Other of Catholicism, the opponent to be suppressed. It was adopted as the translation of “idolatry” in missionary Tetun texts. However, it was impossible to maintain the singular pejorative meaning of Lulik, as the Timorese preferred to call Catholic priests nai-lulik (Lord Lulik). A Timorese collaborator on Bible translation further took advantage of the missionaries’ ignorance of Timorese culture and language: Jesus was called Maromak Oan (the ritual ruler in Wehali) and liurai (the indigenous executive authority), while Caiaphas became the head sacerdote (the Portuguese word for “priest”) and Pontius Pilate was called Em-Boot (the title for a Portuguese governor). The upshot was that an attempt to present Catholicism as a European religion failed in Tetun, and the Passion became a story of an innocent native who was executed by the colonial and religious authorities. The missionaries’ Europe-centric mistranslation of Lulik and the Timorese cosmology, however, strongly influenced the way the academic discourse on Lulik has developed in the following generations.

Syntheses of the Brooker-type dyes were reported in Part XV and XVI of this series, but some counter-argument has been made against the conclusion of the Brooker-type structure because of the difficulty of the mutual reaction of negative anilino groups and the possibility of another substitution in this synthetic method. The conclusion of the Brooker-type dyes was made from the analytical values and absorption spectra but further proof of the formation of a Brooker-type dye by the substitution of an anilino group in the <i>meso</i>-position was affored by the application of ω-phenylaminovinylbenzothiazolium ethiodide or ω-phenylamino-7-methylbenzothiazolium ethiodide on binuclear trimethinethiocyanine dye possessing inactive methyl in the terminal group and anilino group in the <i>meso</i>-position, to a Brooker-type thiocyanine with a terminal methyl, whose absorption spectrum was similar to or the same as that of binuclear trimethine dyes. It was also experimentally proved that reaction of negative anilino groups does occur by the fact that 1, 1′-diethyl-2, 2′-trimethinethiocyanine iodide was obtained from ω-phenylaminovinyl-benzothiazolium ethiodide and benzothiazole-2-aldehyde <i>p</i>-dimethylaminoanil ethiodide.

香研究会IRIは,香道の世界で伝えられる香十徳の中の香の効能,すなわち,感覚を研ぎ澄まし,心身を清浄にして,汚れや穢れを取り除き,孤独感を癒し,多忙時に心を和ますという働きを現代生活に活かすために,新しいスタイルの香道としての聞香体験,平安時代の貴族に愛された練香や古代エジプトの薫香キフィの創作を通して,心身のウエルネスに役立てる活動を行っている.

本実験ではFolin-Denis法の抽出溶媒の比較検討をおこなった.抽出溶媒には,蒸留水,各種濃度の含水メタノール,含水ェタノール,含水アセトン,およびDMSOを用いた.<BR>結果は各試料ごとに異なり,赤ワイン抽出物では含水エタノール,緑茶抽出物では含水メタノール,イチョウ葉抽出物では含水アセトンが高い値を示したが,DMSOで抽出すると,いずれの試料を用いた場合でも最も高い値を示した.また添加回収実験では,DMSOで抽出した場合に添加した(+)-カテキンが最も効率よく回収できた.このことより,Folin-Denis法における抽出溶媒にはDMSOが最も適していることがわかった.

子どもの入院に家族が付き添う場合は多く,その家族に対する看護の必要性は,家族看護実践の課題のひとつである.子どもの入院に付き添う家族ついての研究は,親の思い,付き添い環境の実態について述べられているものは多数あるが,その負担を系統的に分類したものはみられない.本研究の目的は,子どもの入院に付き添う親はどのような負担を感じているかを整理し,現状を明らかにすることである.さらに得られた知見から,具体的な家族支援について検討する.医中誌Webのデータベースを用いた文献検索を実施した.「入院」「小児」「家族」「付き添い」「親」「負担」の用語を用いて論理積で検索を行った.結果,17本の文献が該当した.家族が実際感じている負担の内容を分析するために,対象者が家族ではないものなどを除外し,最終的に該当した論文13本を分析対象とした.対象文献をベレルソンの手法を用いて内容分析を実施した.対象文献より,子どもの入院に伴う負担に関する不安や苦痛,希望が表現された文脈を抽出してデータ化し,文脈単位とした.文献より,子どもの入院に付き添う親の負担について述べられた文脈を抽出した結果,163文脈単位が抽出された.それらをサブカテゴリ(記録単位)化し,それぞれ類似した内容ごとにまとめ,【子どもの療養環境への不満】【子どもが療養生活環境にいることに伴う親の身体的苦痛】【家庭,他の家族員に関する心配,苦痛】【看護職者への不満】【子どもが療養生活環境にいることに伴う親の精神的苦痛】【入院そのものに対する不安】【子どもの病気に対する不安】【看護職者以外の医療従事者に対する不満】【経済的な負担】【社会的活動に対する不安】という10のカテゴリが形成された.最も多かったのは【子どもの療養生活環境への不満】のカテゴリで全体の32%を占めた.次に多かったものが,【子どもが療養生活環境にいることに伴う身体的苦痛】のカテゴリで17%を占めていた.子どもの入院時,付き添う家族の基本的欲求が制限されており,看護職として積極的に看護介入していく必要性が考えられた.特に,負担として多く挙がっていた付き添い環境,付き添いに伴う家族の精神的負担,子どもの病気の受容などの負担に対して,看護職は親がこのような負担をもちながら付き添う現状を理解し,早急な改善を目指す必要があるだろう.また,治療に関する説明だけではなく話の傾聴や親の頑張りを認めるような関わりが必要であることが考えられた.

The global spread of COVID-19 pandemic forced the scientific community to identify new ways of exchanging and transferring the scientific knowledge, also considering that the measures taken to combat the pandemic, such as travel restrictions, closed borders and gathering bans, led to cancellations of many conferences, meetings and workshops. The enhancement of the existing digital platforms and the development of new systems to share scientific knowledge has allowed the scientific community to “meet” again in new virtual environments (e.g., Zoom, Cisco WebEx, Live Stream, Demio, GoToWebinar Seminar, Google Hangouts, Skype, Microsoft Teams, etc.), providing an unprecedented opportunity to reform methods of organizing academic conferences in all disciplines.Starting from the review of the existing literature, this study aimed at investigating the impact of the spreading of virtual conferences on the field of research. The SWOT analysis was used to identify strengths and weaknesses of the scientific conferences organized in the new format, as well as opportunities and threats created by the socio-economic and political context in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic.
