This study investigated the moderating effects of children’s conflicting relationships with their best friends on how positive parent-child relationships buffer against children’s externalizing problem behaviors directly or through their self-esteem. It also examined whether this moderating effect was conditional on children’s age. Nine hundred and twenty-six elementary and junior high school students completed the questionnaire, which covered their sense of trust in parents, self-esteem, conflicting relationships with best friends, and externalizing problem behaviors. The results of a mediation analysis revealed that children’s high sense of trust in parents buffered against externalizing problem behaviors by enhancing their self-esteem. However, moderated mediation analyses indicated that children with highly conflicting relationships with their best friends reduced the buffering effects of children’s sense of trust in parents on externalizing behaviors both directly and through their self-esteem. These findings were discussed in terms of the children’s conflicting relationships with their best friends and the children’s perception of ego-threat.

In the deep-sea geological survey, good survey results are difficult to obtain by a conventional surface-towed acoustic survey system, because the horizontal resolution is limited due to the long distance between the sensor and the target (seafloor). In order to improve the horizontal resolution, a deep-tow system, which tows the sensor in the vicinity of seafloor, is most practical, and many such systems have been developed and used until today. It is not easy, however, to carry out a high-density survey in a small area by maneuvering the towing body altitude sufficiently close to the seafloor with rugged topography. A ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) can be used to solve this problem. The ROV makes a high-density 2D survey feasible because of its maneuverability, although a long-distance survey is difficult with it. Accordingly, we have developed an acoustic survey system installed on a ROV. The system named DAIPACK (Deep-sea Acoustic Imaging Package) consists of (1) a deep-sea sub-bottom profiler and (2) a deep-sea sidescan sonar.<br> (1) Deep-sea sub-bottom profiler<br> A light-weight and compact sub-bottom profiler for shallow water was chosen to improve and repackage for the deep sea usage. The system is composed of three units; a transducer, an electronic unit and a notebook computer for system control and data acquisition. The source frequency is 10kHz. To convert the system for the deep sea, the transducer was exchanged for the deep sea model, and the electronic unit was improved accordingly. The electronic unit and the notebook computer were installed in a spherical pressure vessel.<br> (2) Deep-sea sidescan sonar<br> We remodeled a compact shallow sea sidescan sonar(water depth limitation is 30m ) into a deep sea one. This sidescan sonar is composed of a sonar towfish (transducers and an electronic unit ), a cable and a notebook computer (data processor). To accommodate in the deep water, the transducers were remodeled into a high pressure resistance type, and the electronic unit and the computer unit were stored in a spherical pressure vessel. The frequency output of the sidescan sonar is 330kHz, and the ranging distance is variable from 15m to 120m (one side).

First of all, I'd like to give all of you a warm welcome and thanks for being here today in spite that the inter-semester break is to start tomorrow. Some of you, I'm sorry to say, may have postponed your departure for a holiday tour. A Japanese speech usually begins like this with an apology. We have some Japanese students from Latrobe University studying English there including a student of Soka University, which is attached to the women's junior college where I teach English. He is here as a so-called sakura meaning cherry blossoms to lighten the atmosphere so that the product of a vendor whose quality is almost always poor can sell well. Self-mockery is also often-used when a Japanese person begins a speech. Such politeness to put oneself down and others up is a great virtue in Japanese culture, however, it should not be applied only between the in-group, the direct acquaintances or the Japanese, excluding the out-group, the total strangers or foreigners. Well-mannered people in a true sense are considerate towards strangers and friends alike. Politeness is not exclusive to Japan. I found this in the "Letters to Ann Landers" column. (She writes advice columns in many US newspapers.) A SHORT COURSE IN HUMAN RELATIONS The six most important words in the English language are: I WAS WRONG-PLEASE FORGIVE ME. The five most important words: YOU DID A GOOD JOB. The four most important words: WHAT IS YOUR OPINION? The three most important words: CAN I HELP? The two most important words: THANK YOU. The one most important word: YOU The one least important word: I I've been emphasising the importance of intercultural communication through teaching communicative English as many Japanese students are unable to enter into a meaningful conversation, much less into understanding the thought processes and value systems of the people. Classrooms should be used to develop students' personality, social and international awareness. I issued a questionnaire to 211 Japanese people. 73 were living in Australia and 138 in Japan. They were allowed to choose more than one answer from set responses and elaborate if necessary. There were also questions which were completely unstructured.

タクマTCP 30マイクロタービン・コージェネレーション・パッケージは, apstone社製28k Wマイクロガスタービン発電機を組み込んだコージェネレーション・パッケージである。マイクロタービンはガスエンジン等のレシプロエンジンと比較して小型軽量, 高効率, 低環境負荷, 低コスト, 無振動, ノーメンテナンスと数多くの特徴を持ち合わせており, また, タクマのエコノマイザ付排気再燃蒸気ボイラで排熱回収を行っている。パッケージは, エンジン本体, ガス圧縮機, 制御・電力変換装置のマイクロタービン機器と排熱回収装置, 制御装置, その他附帯設備から成立っており, 超高速発電システム特有の騒音低減と電子機器からの排熱の効果的な除去という二律背反する面を, コンパクト化されたパッケージ内で両立させている。<BR>26kW電力 (有効電力) と蒸発量600kg/h (換算蒸発量712kg/h) の蒸気を出力し, システム効率93%の高効率コージェネパッケージとなっている。システムの高効率化によって従来の方式 (電力需要は買電, 蒸気需要はボイラによる供給) と比較して約20%の省エネルギーと約25%のCO<SUB>2</SUB>削減が実現するとともに, ユーザ側の大幅なランニングコスト削減が可能であり, 蒸気需要の多いホテル, スポーツクラブ, 銭湯, 病院, 工場等の施設を対象として急速な普及が期待される。

公共図書館で資料請求に応える予約サービスは,各館の蔵書蓄積と円滑な図書館間相互貸借がそれを支えている。現在,全国の県立図書館には県内蔵書を一括検索できる横断検索サイトが整備され,他館の所蔵調査が容易になっている。書庫の有限性からどの館でも除籍を日常化していかざるを得ない。除籍か保存かの判断に,他館蔵書を調べ,地域内の希少資料は互いに残し,提供のためタイトル維持を図る考えがある。県内の希少タイトルを集約し残そうとする幾つかの県立図書館の実践に注目したい。東京都多摩地域には市町村立図書館の中にそれをすすめる提案があり,支援するNPO法人の活動がある。NPO法人が研究してきた共同保存図書館の意義と可能性について。

【背景】小児アトピー性皮膚炎に対する治療教育を目的として,我々は1泊2日教育入院プログラム「スキンケアスクール」を実施している.これは6歳未満で中等症以上を対象にし,正しい洗い方と軟膏塗布の実習指導および講義で構成している.【方法】本プログラムの効果を評価する目的で,参加した56組の養育者に対して参加前,直後,1ヵ月,6ヵ月後にアンケート調査を実施した.【結果】プログラム参加により,医師の指導歴があっても参加前の軟膏量や塗布の方法は不十分であったと認識した.皮疹の状態の改善とともにかゆみや睡眠障害といった症状も1ヵ月後には改善したと養育者は回答しており,その改善度は6ヵ月後まで維持された.一方,ステロイド使用量は参加前と比較して1ヵ月後には減少し,6ヵ月後にはさらに減少したと評価された.【結語】本プログラムは,養育者のスキンケアに対する理解と実践を達成する上で有効であった.皮膚洗浄と十分な軟膏使用を柱とする正しいスキンケアは,湿疹の改善効果をもたらし,結果的にステロイド減量も可能にする事が示唆された.

小麦粉2種類およびでんぷんを主成分とする粉5種類を用いて,シュー形成の状態および食味について検討した。7種の粉の中,最もすぐれたシューを形成した粉は,薄力粉であったが,地下でんぷんのかたくり粉,くず粉の場合も,シューとして遜色のないものが調製出来ることがわかった。地上でんぷんのコンスターチ,上新粉および白玉粉は,形,大きさ,膨化状態が劣っていたが,上新粉の食味は,薄力粉に匹敵するものであった。本稿を終るにあたり,御指導いたゞきました本学調理学研究室の伊東先生初め諸先生方にも深謝致します。
