リボソームはmRNAのコドンを読み取りタンパク質へと翻訳する分子マシーンである.近年,リボソームはタンパク質合成装置としての機能のみならず,リボソームへの結合因子や化学修飾を介して,翻訳制御にも積極的に関与することが報告されている.我々はこのような特殊なリボソームをプロテオームワイドに同定するために,質量分析法を用い,翻訳制御に関与しうる結合タンパク質とリン酸化部位を系統的に同定することに成功した.本稿では,遺伝子からタンパク質に翻訳されるまでの複数の制御レイヤーの全体像を俯瞰しつつ,我々が最近報告したリボソームのリン酸化を介した翻訳制御について紹介する.

So-called “radical democracy” has been concerned with problems of inclusion and exclusion, discussing difference, identity or citizenship. Now radical democracy seems to be divided into two models, agonistic and deliberative. Chantal Mouffe strongly criticizes deliberative democracy through insisting conflict as a fundamental element of “the political”. On the other hand, Iris Young, whose democratic theory is not simply labelled as agonistic or deliberative, conceptualized inclusive democratic model which can be bound on Mouffe’s. Both of them reject the essentialist idea of identity and acknowledge the fact that the constitution of “we” needs the determination of “they”. Mouffe’s idea of “adversary” and Young’s recognition of communication as “struggle” show that democratic dialogue can be a non-violent conflict in a public sphere. Such a conflict should be a type of inclusion because any identity cannot exist without others. The acknowledgement of changeableness of self-identity or self-interest seems to require what Young called “reasonableness” as “hearing the other”, which is not based on particular culture (e. g., white male) nor contain any notion of the common good which might oppress diversity. This can meet Mouffe’s emphasis upon a “practice of civility” which is based on Michael Oakeshott’s notion of societas.

摂取した食物が脳内代謝を変動させ,脳機能活動に影響を及ぼすことが多く報告されてきた.これまでにも同様のタイトルでの記述をしており(1),今回は,比較的最新の動向について紹介する.また,脳機能に食品や食品成分がどのような影響を与えるか,それをどのように評価するかについての新しい手法も開発されてきており,食品や食品成分の情動への影響などの脳機能効果がより解明されやすくなった.

500年前に讃岐の国の一村に麹の組合があったという。本稿ではこの室本麹座を中心として当時の社会, 政治, 経済の動きを解説して頂いた。筆者が御当地の出身で習俗参考館を設立開館されるなど, 民俗研究家, 郷土史家として活躍されているだけに, 古文書等による裏付けも豊かで, 往時を彷彿させる古い資料が消失してゆく現代においての貴重な資料であり, 讃岐という思いがけない地方からの興味あるレポートである。

We examined a 10-year-old cow in which about half of the liver was displaced by malignant tissue consisting of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and cholangiocarcinoma (CC). Cytokeratin (CK) 18 and 7 were expressed in the latter. Metastasis was present in the hepatic, pancreaticoduodenal and mediastinal lymph nodes, where malignant cells had hepatocellular features, but more pleomorphic and atypical than in the primary lesion. Areas composed solely of CC cells or less-differentiated HCC cells were observed. In contrast, well-differentiated HCC cells were almost always admixed with the other two types, and may have had the ability to transform into CC cells and to dedifferentiate into less-differentiated cells. This report suggests that CK18 is an excellent marker for biliary differentiation in cattle.

A white nodule was detected in the liver of a wild female sika deer. The nodule was histologically diagnosed as squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), and it transitioned into a hyperplastic and chronically inflamed intrahepatic bile duct showing Fasciola infection. Therefore, the tumor was demonstrated to have originated from the biliary epithelium of the intrahepatic bile duct. Hyperplastic and chronic inflammatory changes of the biliary epithelium might have contributed the carcinogenesis of the present case, as proposed in human primary intrahepatic SCC cases. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case of primary intrahepatic SCC in an animal.

In this study, a stationary front is automatically detected from weather data using a U-Net deep convolutional neural network. The U-Net trained the transformation process from single/multiple physical quantities of weather data to detect stationary fronts using a 10-year data set. As a result of applying the trained U-Net to a 1-year untrained data set, the proposed approach succeeded in detecting the approximate shape of seasonal fronts with the exception of typhoons. In addition, the wind velocity (zonal and meridional components), wind direction, horizontal temperature gradient at 1000 hPa, relative humidity at 925 hPa, and water vapor at 850 hPa yielded high detection performance. Because the shape of the front extracted from each physical quantity is occasionally different, it is important to comprehensively analyze the results to make a final determination.

1977年,F. Muradらは生体内における血管内皮由来物質としてのNO(一酸化窒素)の働きを発見し,1998年にはノーベル生理学・医学賞を受賞した.血管内皮やNO作動性神経から放出されたNOは,cGMP(環状グアノシン一リン酸)を産生して平滑筋を弛緩させる.cGMPを分解するPDE(ホスホジエステラーゼ)type5の活性化を抑制するPDE5阻害薬は,平滑筋細胞内cGMP濃度の低下を防ぎ,結果としてNO産生量を増加させる.PDE5阻害薬は,1990年代前半に狭心症治療薬として開発されていたが,陰茎海綿体平滑筋等を弛緩させることでED(勃起不全)に有効であることが認められ,本邦においても1999年にシルデナフィルがED治療薬として承認を受けた.またPDE5阻害薬はPAH(肺動脈性肺高血圧症)治療薬としても臨床応用されており,EDのみならず全身的な血管・血流改善薬の可能性を秘めている.LUTS/BPH(前立腺肥大症に伴う下部尿路症状)に関しては,その相関性について議論されており,共通の発症要因としてのNO-cGMP系の低下が注目されてきた.PDE5は陰茎海綿体のみならず,膀胱,前立腺,尿道をはじめとする下部尿路にも広く分布していることが知られており,PDE5阻害薬の中でタダラフィルは2014年に「BPHに伴う排尿障害」治療薬として本邦においても臨床での使用が開始となった.PDE5阻害薬は膀胱出口部閉塞抑制作用,骨盤内血流改善作用,求心性神経活動抑制作用といった下部尿路に対する作用に加え,抗炎症作用,抗酸化作用,血管内皮保護作用等の多岐に亘る薬理作用を有していることが知られており,本項では第88回日本薬理学会年会シンポジウムで発表した内容を中心に報告する.

急性大動脈解離・瘤破裂における腰痛・背部痛や対麻痺の頻度,および脊椎疾患との鑑別方法を明らかにするため,救急部を受診した50例に対し診療録による調査を行った.腰痛や背部痛のみを症状としたのは19例(38.0%)で,腰痛・背部痛に胸痛・腹痛を合併した例をあわせると64.0%の頻度であった.また,対麻痺の発症を1例(2.0%)に認めた.高血圧の既往を認めた例が59.6%,来院時に血圧異常を認めた例が83.3%と高率であった.画像診断では,CTスキャンで全例に確定診断が得られた.運動器プライマリケアにおいて,大動脈解離・瘤破裂は遭遇頻度は少ないが,患者の救命や医療過誤の回避という観点から極めて重大な疾患群である.高血圧の既往,来院時血圧異常,体位に関係のない激烈な腰背部痛を訴える症例に対しては本症候群を疑い,CTスキャンを施行すべきである.

In this paper, we deal with the control problem to manipulate autonomous multiple agents (a flock of sheep) escaping from an agent (a sheepdog) according to nonlinear interaction. This work was motivated by so-called sheepdog system inspired by sheepdog shepherding: a flock of several thousands of sheep are controlled by only a few sheepdogs in the real world. It is an interesting control system because one or more sheepdogs, who act as a small number of controllers, can control many sheep that cannot be directly controlled, taking advantage of their own maneuverability. For this reason, there have been many studies about this system; however, these studies have been limited to building numerical models or performing simulation analyses. Therefore, we aim to clarify the control principle theoretically. For this purpose, we conduct theoretical analysis for a sheepdog-type navigation system which we design based on a flock control model proposed by Vaughan et.al. in the case that one sheep is controlled by a sheepdog. Moreover, we also demonstrate the results by using simulations to confirm the validity of the analysis.

14歳から17歳の思春期女子尋常性痤瘡患者65例と同年齢分布の対照健常女子38例について,卵胞期中期採血によりtestosterone(T),free testosterone(FT),sex hormone binding globulin(SHBG),dihydrotestosterone(DHT),dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate(DHEA-S),androstenedione(Δ4A),luteinizing hormone(LH),follicle stimulating hormone(FSH)を測定し,本症と血中ホルモンの関係について検討した.また尋常性痤瘡患者群はKligman分類により重症群(33例)と中等度群(32例)の2群に分け,重症度と血中ホルモンの関係についても検討した.健常群と比較して尋常性痤瘡患者では血中T,FT,SHBG,DHT,Δ4A,FSH,LH値は有意差は認めなかったが,血中DHEA-S値のみ有意の高値を認めた(p<0.001).更に血中DHEA-S値は尋常性痤瘡群の重症度に相関した(p<0.001).そこでDHEAの皮脂腺に及ぼす影響を,ハムスターの耳介より単離した皮脂腺を組織片培養して得られた脂腺細胞を用いて検討し,DHEAが濃度依存性に培養脂腺細胞の細胞増殖と脂質合成を亢進させることが判明した.以上よりDHEAが尋常性痤瘡の発症機序において,重要な役割を果たしている可能性が示唆された.

太平洋プレートが沈み込む手前で活動するプチスポット火山は,プレート屈曲に起因し,各火山活動は単発に終わる特徴があり,様々な海域で活動している.つまりプレート屈曲場であればどこでも同様の火山が存在し得る.そのような沈み込む手前のプレート上のプチスポット火山体は,沈み込むプレート本体の海洋地殻や,海山等の古い火山体よりも選択的に陸側に付加されていることが容易に想像できる.プチスポット火山の検討により,このような地質学の新展開に加え,海洋リソスフェアの理解に関する新展開も期待される.プチスポット溶岩がもたらす捕獲岩や火道角礫岩は,これまで我々が手に入れることの出来なかった古い海洋プレートの断片として貴重な情報をもたらす.これら岩石に地質圧力計を適用し,近い将来行われる若いプレート上での21世紀モホール計画の成果と合わせ,四次元的に海洋プレートが理解されることが大いに期待される.

Habitat expansion of wild boar (Sus scrafa) cross the waters in Island See is studied based on interview research conducted in all residential islands in Matsuyama City, Ehime Pref., Japan. Wild boar has immigrated around 1999 from the direction of Kashima Island, Hiroshima Pref. in the north. In A group islands where far from original habitat, sporadic damage phase exists for 6-8 years. After damage increase phase of 3-4 years, grate damage phase starts from 2009. In B group islands where near from original habitat, sporadic damage phase relatively short. In other islands far from original habitat and with very small area, wild boar has immigrated but not colonized. Gogo Island is now in sporadic damage phase, but predicted to go into damage increase phase in the near future. It is effective solution of wildlife-human conflict to make opportunity for local people getting information and learning opportunity about wild boar, as well as to monitor wild boar habitat expansion on the edge of original habitat, resulting in effective control of wild boar habitat.
