Although it is established that the composition of the human intestinal microbiota changes with age, transition of the intestinal microbiota of animals with age has not been well studied. In the present study, we collected fresh fecal samples from dogs of 5 different age groups (pre-weanling, weanling, young, aged, senile) and analyzed the compositions of their intestinal microbiota with a culture-based method. The results suggested that the composition of the canine intestinal microbiota also changes with age. Among intestinal bacteria predominant in dog intestines, lactobacilli appeared to change with age. Both the number and the prevalence of lactobacilli tended to decrease when dogs became older. Bifidobacteria, on the other hand, was not predominant in the intestine of the dogs. We also identified lactobacilli at the species level based on 16S rRNA gene sequences and found that the species composition of Lactobacillus also changed with age. It was further suggested that bacteria species beneficial to host animals may differ depending on the host species.

Nowadays, along with the popularity of E-Commerce, the marketing strategy of retail stores has been more complicated with O2O or Omni-channel. Therefore, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) is one of the important issue for the retail stores. It can be difficult to predict customers future behavior with the simple quantitive information such as purchase frequency since each customers are widely diversified. Although the company can obtain the variety of customers information from their online activity, the use of access history is still limited. In this paper, we defined “the variety of user access patterns” collected from their web browsing history and it shows the patterns they visit the website. Finally, we verified its effectiveness with developing a DNN model to predict customers future behavior.

This study provides an overview of the Asian monsoon and its change as simulated by atmosphere–ocean coupled general circulation models and high-resolution atmospheric general circulation models, focusing on the seasonal mean circulation and precipitation climatology. After reviewing the drivers of and the elements that affect the monsoon, the ability of those climate models to reproduce the Asian monsoon is assessed. The Asian monsoon is better reproduced in the Coupled Modeling Intercomparison Project phase 5 (CMIP5) models than in the CMIP3 models, although biases remain. Projected future changes in the Asian monsoon at the end of the 21st century are then reviewed. Overall projections are similar for both CMIP3 and CMIP5 models with increases in precipitation, albeit with weakened circulation in the South Asian summer, enhanced circulation and increased precipitation in the East Asian summer, and latitude-dependent changes in the winter monsoon circulation in East Asia. However, differences exist in the projected local changes, leading to uncertainty in projections.

本研究では,兵庫県明石市雲晴寺墓地から出土した明石藩家老親族の人骨1体(ST61)について,形態学,古病理学,同位体食性分析の視点から研究を行った。板碑から人骨は明石藩の家老親族であり,1732年に77歳で亡くなった女性である。本研究の結果,(1)骨から推定された性別は女性で,死亡年齢は50歳以上で,墓誌の記録を裏付けるものであった。(2)頭蓋形態を調べたところ,脳頭蓋最大長が大きく,バジオン・ブレグマ高が小さく,頭蓋長幅示数は75.3で長頭に近い中頭,また上顔部が細長いものの顔面全体が大きく,いずれの特徴も徳川将軍親族,江戸庶民,近代人とは異なっていた。(3)炭素・窒素安定同位体分析の結果,ST61の主要なタンパク質摂取源は,淡水魚,または,陸上食物と海産物の組み合わせと推定された。当時の上流階級の人骨のデータの積み重ねは今後の江戸時代人骨の研究に不可欠であるため,今回一例ではあるが基礎データの報告を行った。

生体内で機能しているタンパク質の多くは四次構造を形成している。この構造を予測するタンパク質ドッキングには,タンパク質間相互作用を高速に評価する手法が重要である。これまでの我々の研究において,Krishnamoorthy等らが開発した統計的粗視化ポテンシャルや,我々によるその改良ポテンシャルをスコア関数に採用したタンパク質―ペプチドリガンド複合体の高速構造探索(ペプチドリガンドドッキング)法を開発してきた。本研究では,これらの粗視化ポテンシャルをタンパク質四次構造の安定性評価に適用できるかどうか検討するため,ホスホフルクトキナーゼ四量体の多形構造を生成し,それらをAMBER力場と粗視化ポテンシャルを用いて比較した。

The purpose of this study was (1) to quantify the contribution of the adductors and iliopsoas to the hip joint torque, and (2) to clarify the function of the adductors and iliopsoas for terminal support until early recovery in maximal velocity sprinting. Eight male track and field athletes volunteered for the present study, and sprinted 60 m from a standing start position. Ground reaction force to the right leg was measured using a force platform (1000 Hz) placed at the 50-m mark from the start position. Simultaneously, 3-dimensional coordinates of body landmarks were recorded by a motion capture system (250 Hz) with 20 cameras. The right hip joint torque was calculated using inverse dynamics. To estimate the muscle forces of the right lower limb, we created a musculoskeletal model. The contribution of the muscle forces to the right hip joint force was calculated based on both equations of motion for each segment and equations of constraint conditions for adjacent segments connected by a joint. The main results for terminal support until early recovery were: (1) The adductor muscles generated less torque during hip joint flexion. (2) These muscles were involved in forward acceleration of the leg on the same side. (3) The iliopsoas was involved in the forward swing of the thigh on the same side.  Based on these results, it can be concluded that the hip adductors do not function as hip flexors, but as forward accelerators of the leg on the same side, based on the hip joint adductor torque. In contrast, the iliopsoas does not function as a forward accelerators of the leg on the same side, but delivers forward swing to the thigh on the same side for hip joint flexion torque.

This research studied the effects of Zinc Dialkyldithiophosphate (ZnDTP) additives on the tribological properties of a H-free Diamond-like Carbon (DLC) film under boundary lubrication with oils that contained organic friction modifiers (FMs). The tribological properties were evaluated using the reciprocating type cylinder-on-disk tribo-tester. ZnDTP and three types of organic additives (GMO, glycerol mono-oleoyl ether (GME), and tallow diethanol amine (TDEA)) were added to poly-alpha olefin (PAO). Friction tests were carried out for the DLC/Steel tribo-pair under lubrication with PAO and PAO-based oils containing GMO, GME, TDEA, ZnDTP, GMO + ZnDTP, GME + ZnDTP, and TDEA + ZnDTP additives. Raman spectroscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were used for analyses of worn surface on the H-free DLC film. The H-free DLC film lubricated with PAO + FMs reached an ultralow friction coefficient of 0.02 - 0.03. On the other hand, The H-free DLC film lubricated with PAO + FMs + ZnDTP had increased friction coefficients compared to the PAO + FMs oils. For the lubrication added ZnDTP additive, the surface analyses demonstrated that the chemical composition of the ZnDTP-derived tribofilm depended on the combination of ZnDTP and each FM. It was concluded that the chemical composition of the ZnDTP-derived tribofilm played an important role in the friction behavior of the H-free DLC films that were lubricated with PAO + ZnDTP and PAO + FMs + ZnDTP.

機能性食品における抗疲労効果に関してはアンケートによる主観評価法が主として用いられており,簡便,且つ直接的に疲労を評価している報告は少ない.本研究では筋電図を用いたアンセリンの抗疲労効果を検証する方法を提案するとともに,健康な成人男性 17 名(平均年齢 35.5 ± 5 歳 体重 75.5 ± 5 kg)に対して臨床試験を行い,その効果を検証した.試験プロトコールとして 1 回の試験につき 2 度足上げ運動を行い,筋電図周波数中央値の変化を算出,二回の運動中のその一次回帰直線の傾きの回転角を疲労指標 (AFI) とすることにより変動による差を低減させた.さらに,周波数解析区間を分けることにより,アンセリンの筋肉疲労軽減効果を確認した.

Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is a surgical treatment for conditions such as knee osteoarthritis; the treatment aims to relieve knee pain and improve quality of life. Treatment outcomes are stable; however, it has been reported that postoperative pain becomes chronic in 15 - 20% of cases. The aim of this study was to examine the factors involved in the chronicity of postoperative pain by investigating the effects of cognitive and psychological factors on postoperative pain at 3 weeks, 5 weeks, and 4 months post-operation. Subjects were 50 patients who underwent TKA (8 men and 42 women, mean age: 74.8 ± 6.5 years). Cognitive factors in this study comprised an assessment of neglect-like symptoms; such symptoms included decreased “cognitive function regarding the existence of one's own limbs" or “cognitive function regarding the motion perception of one's own limbs." The severity of these symptoms was assessed using the method described by Galar et al. Psychological factors comprised assessments of anxiety and catastrophic thinking about pain. Anxiety was assessed using the state-trait anxiety inventory, while catastrophic thinking about pain was assessed using the pain catastrophizing scale (comprises categories of helplessness, magnification, and rumination). Postoperative pain was assessed using a visual analog scale (VAS). Multiple regression analysis by using VAS as the dependent variable and all other factors as independent variables showed the following factors to be significantly correlated with VAS: neglect-like symptoms at 3 weeks, 5 weeks, and 4 months post-operation and rumination at 3 weeks and 4 months post-operation. Sensory integration becomes difficult because of decreased sensory function in neglect-like symptoms; this is thought to be caused by body image becoming inaccurate. On the basis of these findings, it is considered necessary to approach for the improvement of sensory function in postoperative rehabilitation. In addition, rumination is persistent in pain, which is believed to result in a prognosis of a psychological state of severe anxiety. Therefore, methods for dealing with postoperative pain and giving patients a prognosis that is as precise as possible are thought to be necessary. These measures are thought to be factors in relieving postoperative pain and preventing it from becoming chronic.
