本研究は,レジリエンス及びストレス経験からの成長と情動知能の関連の検証を自己領域と他者領域の区別を軸として行った。大学生245名(男性104名,女性141名)を分析対象とした。対象者は,情動知能,ストレス経験からの成長,レジリエンスの各尺度から構成される質問紙に回答した。情動知能に性差が認められたため,男女別の多母集団の同時分析を行った結果,男性では,最もストレスが大きかった経験に対して他者領域のレジリエンスを活かすことが,他者の受容という成長を通じて,情動知能の他者領域を高める影響を与えることが示された。他方,女性では,自己領域のレジリエンスを活かすことが,自己への信頼という成長を通じて,情動知能の自己領域と他者領域の両方を高める影響を与えることが示された。以上の結果に基づき,性差が生じた背景及び,環境要因と情動知能との関連について議論を行った。

Emotional competence refers to individual differences in the ability to appropriately identify, understand, express, regulate, and utilize one’s own emotions and those of others. This study developed a Japanese version of a short form of the Profile of Emotional Competence, a measure that allows the comprehensive assessment of intra- and interpersonal emotional competence with shorter items, and investigated its reliability and validity. In Study 1, we selected items for a short version and compared it with the full scale in terms of scores, internal consistency, and validity. In Study 2, we examined the short form’s test-retest reliability. Results supported the original two-factor model and the measure had adequate reliability and validity. We discuss the construct validity and practical applicability of the short form of the Profile of Emotional Competence.

Several papers on the applications of the nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) technique-for the biological measurements have been published since the first proposal of the NMR blood flowmeter by Bowman. However, the problems arising inherently from the non-invasive measurements of the specified area in the body were not discussed in these papers. The authors proposed previously the magnetic focusing technique as one of the new approaches and discussed some problems related to this technique.In this paper, some basic problems of the applications of NMR for the non-invasive measurements are discussed and the fundamental properties affecting the measuring sensitivity attained by the magnetic focusing technique is analyzed. The problems treated and the obtained results are as follows : 1) The relations among parameters such as relaxation times and radio frequency magnetic field which influence the measuring sensitivity are experimentally analyzed.2) The distributions of RF magnetic field inside or outside the transmitter coil are theoretically calculated. Approximate values of relaxation time of 1-2 sec. and 0.1-1 sec. are experimentally obtained respectively with the various body fluids and tissues of the dog and the human. Philosophy of choosing the appropriate parameters are discussed based on these results by taking the saturation factor in Bloch's equation and the measuring sensitivity into account.3) Application for the tumor detection is discussed and the differences of 20% and 200% in relaxation time between normal and cancer cases are experimentally obtained respectively with the tissues from the stomach and the breast. Further, it has been found that the relation between hematocrit of blood and its relaxation time was linear.4) The deterioration of signal output by body tissues is examined by a model experiment. According to this experiment, it is shown that the deterioration of S/N ratio was equal to approximately 30%, at f = 60 MHz.5) From above results, in the case of applying our proposed magnetic focusing technique, the resolution or the minimally detectable volume of water in the typical organs by S/N of unity at resonance frequency of 60 MHz should be about 0.3 ml.

The possibilities for the measurements of the blood flow and water contents in the human body by NMR techniques have been analyzed during the last four years. A new technique for this purpose is proposed as one of the new approaches.This paper will deal with the following four topics connected with our past studies for noninvasive testing of biological materials.(1) Proposal of magnetic focusing techniques and generation of the focusing field.(2) Deterioration of the signal level originating frcm the loose coupling between the measuring target and the detector, and minimum limit for measurements of the stationary body fluid utilizing steady NMR.(3) Improvement on the blood flowmeter utilizing pulse NMR.(4) Measurement of the stationary body fluid utilizing pulse NMR.For non-invasive measurements of the nuclear magnetic substances distributed in the human body, a new approach is proposed by utilizing the magnetic focusing technique on the measuring target. And several methods for generating this magnetic focus are discussed theoretically. Moreover, the degree of inevitable deterioration of the signal from the focus induced by a loose coupling between the target in the body and the detector on its surface is calculated theoretically.Theoretical estimations of a new blood flowmeter are shown by taking advantages of the tag effect by radio frequency pulse on the blood flow.For this improvement of the blood flowmeter, the techniques are explained to estimate the pseudo-signal intensity originating from the neighbouring tissues around the blood vessel. A method similar to blood flowmetry can also be applicable to detect the stationary body fluids with some modifications.And some simple assumptions of the minimum limit of detectability are summarized from the view point of bio-medical applications.In conclusion, the authors are able to explain a few considerations and theoretical prospects on these applications of NMR.

Isoinertial resistance is imposed during natural human dynamics, where muscles contract at varying velocities and joint angles. In many sports, the ability to produce greater force at faster speed is essential for successful outcomes. Hence, power training under isoinertial resistance (e.g., body mass, weights or flywheel, etc.) provides event-specific adaptive stimuli. Conventional power training consists of a combination of strength-oriented (> 70% 1RM) and speed-oriented (< 30% 1RM, e.g., plyometrics) methods, with the aim of being able to overcome variable external loadings across a range of velocities. An alternative maximum power output training (Pmax training, 30-70% 1RM) has been found to elicit equivalent or greater effectiveness compared to the conventional methods. It is, however, difficult to precisely reproduce the prescribed intensities, given several concerns associated with 1RM testing and the variable accuracies of the repetition-intensity or velocity-intensity relationship. No matter what level of resistance is assigned to an exercise, it is far more important to exert as much effort (or fastest concentric speed) as possible per repetition, otherwise, the training effects are reduced. At light intensities, however, a large portion of the concentric phase is spent in deceleration for the subsequent phase transition, which may limit effort. Making projectile motions, therefore, are necessary. The utilization of stretch-shortening cycle effects, with increased power ability, may give a further training edge. Coaches and trainees should be aware that successful movements in power training are defined as greater acceleration, speed and displacement for every repetition, rather than simply neat form or smooth repetitiveness.

An eruption of Mt. Ontake on September 27, 2014, which was small scale stream eruption with about 500,000 ton volcanic products, caused 47 deaths and 6 missing. Though volcanoes take on serious aspect in actively in Japan, the concern with the effect of falling of volcanic ash in huge eruption to buildings has been growing. A large volume of ash fall can destroy a building or lead to a catastrophe causing tragic loss of human life. It is important to understand of a characteristic of sliding of volcanic ash depositing on the roof to estimate an amount of accumulation of volcanic ash on the roof. The aim of the present work is to observe behavior of volcanic ash on pitched roof and to understand the basic characteristics of the sliding of volcanic ash on the roof using a model testing. The model testing was carried out using a roof model consisted of two components: one was a roof and another was a supporting structure that held up the roof. These two components were jointed each other with a pin-connected which allowed the roof rotate and replace the roof to another type of roofs; an opposite side of the joint was connected to a crane attached on a ceiling in a laboratory. Four types of roof were prepared to investigate an effect of surface roughness of roof materials and shape of a surface of the roofs on the sliding. The types of roof covers were cement tile, plane Galvalume steel plate, plane Galvalume steel plate with straight line roofing and Galvalume steel plate with seven steel plates substituted for snow steps. The sliding of volcanic ash on the roof could be occurred when the crane pulled a free end of the roof upward. The pitch of the roof was increased until the falling of volcanic ash depositing on the roof was observed and a drop amount of the volcanic ash from a roof and a pitch of a roof were measured when the sliding of the volcanic ash stopped. Two kinds of volcanic ash which were spouted from Mt. Sakurajima in 2014 and from Mt. Shinmoedake in 2011 were accumulated on the roofs. Each roof had a unique characteristic of sliding of volcanic ash when a drop amount of the volcanic ash from the roof reached to same value. This result suggested that the sliding of volcanic ash on the roof depended on surface roughness of roof material and shape of a surface of the roof. A trapezoid model which approximated to a cross-section shape of volcanic ash on the roof was developed to calculate an angle of a slope φ of the volcanic ash which was a value of the angle of slope when the sliding was over. The angle of a slope φ was closed to an angle of internal friction when the pitch of roof was small; it gradually decreased close to 70% of an initial value. A pitch of the roof θMAX which was maximal angle that the volcanic ash could accumulate was calculated by extrapolation of the angle of a slope φ. The values were in the range of 21° to 26°. This result suggested that sliding would occur and could cause serious damage to buildings in huge eruption. These results indicated that the sliding of the volcanic ash would be one of issues in volcanic disaster prevention in Japan and the angle of a slope φ could be main factor to understand the sliding. Further research on angle of a slope φ was needed to clarify the characteristics of the sliding.

The aim of this prospective, randomized clinical trial was to compare the total number of anesthetic interventions (TNAI) performed by the anesthetist to treat cardiovascular depression or arousal/movement episodes in dogs receiving intrathecal and general anesthesia (GA), maintained using propofol-based TIVA (group P) or isoflurane (group I). Mean arterial pressure (MAP) before (T0) and 12 min after intrathecal anesthesia (T1) and intraoperative vasoactive consumption were also compared. The TNAI to deepen the anesthetic plane or to treat hemodynamic depression in the pre-surgical and intra-surgical period was calculated in forty-two client-owned dogs randomly assigned to group P or I. Ten dogs for each group complied with the inclusion criteria and were analyzed. In pre-surgical period, the TNAI was higher in Group I [2 (0–5)] than Group P [0 (0–2)] (P=0.022), and ephedrine consumption was also higher in Group I [75 (0–200) µg/kg)] than Group P [(0 (0–50)] (P=0.016). MAP (mmHg) in Group P was 79 (66–95) at T0 and 65 (59–86) at T1 and 67.5 (50–73) and 57 (53–66) in Group I, respectively. At T0 and T1, MAP was higher in Group P (P=0.005 and P=0.006, respectively). No differences were found between the two groups in the intrasurgical period (P>0.05). This study shows that the GA protocol can have a relevant impact on the TNAI performed by the anesthetist in the pre-surgical period of anesthesia, to treat cardiovascular depression or arousal/movement episodes in dogs receiving intrathecal anesthesia.

In this time, I reviewed epidemiology of antimicrobial-resistant bacteria isolated from companion animals. In Enterobacteriaceae, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Enterobacter spp. relatively frequently exhibited resistance to extended-spectrum cephalosporins and fluoroquinolones. Most of the ESC-resistant isolates harbored extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs). Some of the ESBL-producing isolates were genetically related and detected in specific veterinary hospitals. On the other hand, more than half of Proteus mirabilis isolates were susceptible to the tested antimicrobials. Most of Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates were highly susceptible against most of antipseudomonal drugs, except for fluoroquinolones. In Staphylococcus pseudintermedius, methicillin-resistant isolates, exhibiting resistance against multiple drugs, become prevalent, especially in secondary medical hospital. In Enterococci, isolates from animals with antimicrobial exposure were more resistant to several antimicrobials, compared with those without antimicrobial exposure. Overall, in companion animals, ESBL-producing Enterobacteriaceae and methicillin-resistant S. pseudintermedius have been prevalent and, thus continuous monitoring would be needed to understand the trend of these antimicrobial-resistant bacteria.

一側性難聴者とは片側の耳のみに明らかな聴覚障害を抱える人々を指す。一般的に日常生活での支障はないと思われているが、特有の3つの困難によって潜在的に精神的な負担を感じている人々は多い。近年、新生児聴覚スクリーニング検査の普及により同様の症状を持つ新生児の発見率が高まっていることを考慮すると一側性難聴は軽視できるような症状ではない。それにも関わらず、片側のみの聴覚障害では法律上障害者手帳をもらうことができない。そのため一側性難聴者へ向けたサポート製品市場は不安定であり、研究は進められていない。本研究では、特有の3つの困難の中でも現状解決できていない音源定位の困難に焦点をあてたサポート製品として、ユーザーへ向けられた「危険音」と「コミュニケーション音」を分析し、それぞれに対応した2種類の異なる振動を後頸部から両肩にかけて選定した4つの箇所へ伝える音源定位サポート製品を提案した。振動の種類で音源の特徴を、振動する箇所で音源の位置を直感的に把握できる。本提案は一側性難聴者だけでなく、両耳難聴者やイヤホン装着時の健聴者にとっても使用価値のあるものとすることができた。

本研究では触感を通じてガラスから抱く印象を探ることを目的とし,より詳細にガラスから抱く印象を探るため2つの実験を行った.実験1はガラスの表面加工,見た目による印象の変化を探るものである.ここでは,被験者に5種類のガラスサンプルに触らせ,抱いた印象や想像したことを発話してもらった.収集した発話を元に発話内容の分類,潜在イメージを抽出しサンプルごとに比較した.実験2ではタッチパネルを使用し,同一素材上での触り方や操作感による印象の変化を分析した.利き手(利き手・非利き手),触り方(指先・3本指・母指球・関節・親指)を変えて課題に取り組ませ,タスク前後に印象評価を行った.タスクの成績とアンケートの結果を総合し,被験者の抱いた印象を探った.結果,実験1からは,表面加工により幅広い印象を与え,曲線・曲面の加工により硬いガラスからも柔らかさを感じさせる可能性があることが確認された.実験2から,同一素材でも状況によって印象が変わることが確認された.今後,サンプルにより細かな加工を施したり,タスクを変更させて,触覚的な印象を詳細に分析することで,触り心地に影響を与える要因の解明につながると考えられる.

Drug rash with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) is a severe drug hypersensitivity reaction characterized by rash, fever and multi-organ failure. Limbic encephalitis (LE) is a rare disorder characterized by cognitive dysfunction with memory disturbance, seizures and psychiatric symptoms. We herein present an unusual case of DRESS syndrome due to lamotrigine with reactivation of Epstein-Barr virus, which developed autoimmune LE and syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion. Discontinuation of lamotrigine, administration of methylprednisolone and intravenous immunoglobulin led to improvement. The LE in this case might have been caused by an autoimmune inflammatory mechanism associated with DRESS syndrome.

The architectural drawings and documents of the works of Vann Molyvann were discovered anew from the archives of Obayashi Corporation in Japan. This paper introduces these documents and clarifies that Vann Molyvann and Obayashi Corporation were in collaboration in the 1950-60s. Through the literature and hearing surveys with Vann Molyvann and former Obayashi staffs, this paper confirms that these documents include the architectural drawings of Chaktomuk Conference Hall and Preah Suramarit National Theatre, prepared by Vann Molyvann, as well as structural drawings and calculations of Cambodian Parliament and Preah Suramarit National Theater, prepared by Obayashi Corporation for Vann Molyvann.

Many classes of non-linear systems can be represented by Volterra kernels. In order to obtain the Volterra kernels, one of the authors has proposed a new method by use of M-sequences and correlation function.In this paper, the authors propose a new method for polynomial approximation of non-linear system using the Volterra kernels measured by the M-sequence method. The non-linear system can be approximated as a combination of a linear system and its squared portion. The parameters, which represent the relative magnitude of the squared part, is calculated by use of the Volterra kernels.The proposed method is applied to a non-linear chemical process. From the results of simulations, it is shown that the output signals of the non-linear system calculated by the proposed method agree well with the theoretical outputs.

A method has been developed for the recovery and recycling of selenium (Se) from Se-containing wastewater using the Se reducing bacterium, Pseudomonas stutzeri NT-I. The treatment of Se-containing wastewater with strain NT-I produced the bioselenium, which was composed mainly of organic matter and 11–14 mass% of Se. Specifically, the recovery of Se from the bioselenium by oxidizing roasting followed by wet reduction was studied. After thermodynamic calculations were performed to estimate the oxidizing behavior during roasting, experiments were conducted on the bioselenium for various roasting conditions. Selenium in the bioselenium was recovered in the form of solid SeO2 with a purity of 99% (metal basis) and a maximum yield of 97 mass% after roasting at 700℃. Wet reduction of SeO2 to metallic Se was achieved with a purity of 99% (metal basis).

従来,ミシガン型ファジィ遺伝的機械学習においては,単一のパターンからルールの生成を行っていた.先行研究において,我々は複数のパターンを用いたルール生成について提案し,単一のパターンからのルール生成よりも優れていることを示した.その際,選択したパターン同士のクラスの相違や,パターン間の距離についての考慮を行わなかった.本研究では,複数のパターンからのルール生成において,パターンのクラスや,パターン間の距離を変化させることによって,獲得される識別器にどのような影響を及ぼすのかについて調査する.

The effects of concomitant gastrointestinal drugs on the absorptivity of cefcapene-pivoxil hydrochloride (CFPN-PI) were examined in patients who were hospitalized due to infection and were to be treated with a gastrointestinal drug. CFPN-PI was orally administrated at a dose of 100mg after meals concomitant with a gastrointestinal drug. The urinary recovery rate of CFPN was determined from the urine collected for 12 hours after the first administration of CFPN-PI. In addition, the clinical efficacy and safety of CFPNPI was evaluated. The results were as follows:1. The mean urinary recovery rate of CFPN in 25 cases evaluable for the absorptivity of CFPN-PI was 24.7% (95% confidence interval: 21.0-28.3%). The mean urinary recovery rate of CFPN was 25 .6% in the famotidine group, 23.9% in the dried alminium hydrooxide gel group, and 25.2% in the teprenone group.Thus, there was no significant difference in the urinary recovery rate of CFPN among the concomitant drug groups (p-value: 0.9239).2. Clinical efficacy was judged as “excellent” in 4 cases, “good” in 16 cases, and “poor” in 2 cases, generating a clinical efficacy rate of 90.9%.3. The incidence of adverse drug reactions (ADRs) was 16.7%. All of the ADRs were slight in severity and were resolved without any treatment.Based on these results, it is suggested that the concomitant administration of the gastrointestinal drugs used in this study does not largely affect the absorptivity of CFPN-PI and the drug shows a sufficient antibacterial effect at the approved dose in such concomitant administration.
