Growing evidence from animal and human research indicates the importance of homeostatic regulation of the circadian clock in the body. Dysfunction of the circadian clock caused by jet lag or night-shift work increases the risk of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer. Thus, it is important to consider the circadian clock function for prevention of these diseases. Chrono-nutrition is a recently established research field that examines the relationship between the timing of food/nutrition and health. It is well known that breakfast skipping and late-night meals are independent risk factors for diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. Chrono-nutrition also advocates research on nutrition and the biological clock and the social implementation of the research. Breakfast can advance the phase of the peripheral clock, but late dinner can delay it. Moreover, many functional foods and nutrients, such as caffeine and polyphenols, regulate the circadian clock. In this review, we discuss how diet/nutrition entrains the peripheral clock and the relationship between meal timing and health outcomes. In addition, the effects of time-restricted feeding/eating on metabolism and related diseases are discussed. Lastly, we introduce “personalized chrono-nutrition,” that uses recent progress of technology such as sensors and the artificial intelligence/internet of things (AI/IOT) to promote personalized chrono-nutritional suggestions and health systems.

In this paper, the state of communication between psychology and society were discussed from both aspects of psychology receiving information from society (data collection) and psychology transmitting information to society (science communication) using actual practices by the author. Concerning receiving information from society, social psychology research on Internet communication that analyzed real-world data (i.e., posts on blogs, social media, and other online communication forums) was introduced, and the significance of using actual data was demonstrated. Concerning transmitting information to society, practical examples of science communication as an initiative to channel back scientific findings to society (i.e., creating press releases and science news articles) was introduced. In addition, current issues and the necessity of the open science movement were discussed.

全国一のレンコン産地である茨城県では,カモ類及びバン類による年間約3億円(2020年度)のレンコン被害が報告されている.レンコンは通年湛水のハス田の泥中に生育し,収穫時にえぐられた傷のあるレンコンが混じることがあるため「カモ被害」とされてきたが,実際にカモ類等が夜間に食害する様子を示した資料は無かった.どの種がどのようにレンコンを食べるか明らかにするため,2021年2–3月,収穫後のハス田(泥面は水面下約20 cm)に試験的にレンコンを設置し,カモ類等による夜間の採食行動を自動撮影カメラで撮影した.全16回の試験回毎に,2–4節ある新鮮なレンコンを日没前に田内(水面下0–52 cm,試験毎に深さを変更,園芸用支柱に結えて保持)又は畦上に設置し,翌朝に回収した.その結果,マガモAnas platyrhynchosとオオバンFulica atraがレンコンを食べる様子が頻繁に撮影され,まず畦上又は水面にあるレンコンを突いて食べ,完食すると次いで頭を水中に浸して水面下0–20 cmにあるレンコンを食べていた.その後,水面下20–40 cmの泥中にあるレンコンを倒立して食べ,途中,オオバンは潜水,マガモは水かきで泥を掘る動作も行った.翌朝,レンコンが食べられた範囲の泥面は水面下20–42 cmのすり鉢状に掘られており,水面下40 cmよりも深くにはレンコンが残っていた.他のカモ類の飛来は少なかったが,ヨシガモA. falcataは泥面のレンコンを,ヒドリガモA. penelopeは畦上と水面のレンコンを食べた.ハシビロガモA. clypeata,コガモA. crecca,オカヨシガモA. streperaはレンコンを食べる行動は見られなかった.以上から,泥中に着生する商品となるレンコンが少なくともマガモとオオバンによる食害を受けうることが示され,浅く位置するレンコンほど食害を受けやすいと考えられた.

機械学習をどのように活用すれば社会科学を発展させることができるのか.この問いを検討するため,本稿は現実の説明に向けた機械学習と,現実の制御に向けた機械学習の活用方法の2つの観点から既存研究を概観する.とりわけ,現実の制御に関する既存研究を,対象の制御形態としての最適化と拡張の観点から整理する.

After BNT162b2 messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination, a 30-year-old man developed bilateral lateral gaze palsy, diplopia, absent tendon reflexes, and ataxic gait. Serum anti-GQ1b and anti-GT1a immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies were strongly positive. Based on those findings, he was diagnosed with Miller Fisher syndrome (MFS). Intravenous immunoglobulin therapy was administered, and his symptoms fully recovered within approximately 3 months. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report to describe the development of MFS after COVID-19 mRNA vaccination.

本稿では、地方鉄道の利用者数減少とそれに伴う地域衰退を背景に、鉄道会社が実施している路線活性化策に着目し、利用者の増加に効果的な要因を明らかにすることを研究目的とする。調査対象路線は特定地方交通線転換鉄道20社とし、利用者数等の統計データの収集と三角グラフ・回帰分析・数量化分析一類を用いて分析した。これらの分析から、利用者の増加には、定期外利用者に視点を置いた、地元食材や地酒を提供するイベント列車の運行が効果的であることが明らかになった。今後の課題として、地元食材の旬・調理方法・組み合わせ等の工夫や多様な情報発信を沿線地域と連携して行っていくことが、継続的な利用や地域の活性化にもつながると考える。

1989年の千葉東金道路建設の際にトウキョウサンショウウオの生息地が確認され,1993年から1995年にかけて同道路近傍に代替産卵池の整備がなされた。2016年から2020年にかけて,その整備効果を把握することを目的として,地元大学との共同で同池及び周辺地域において産卵状況調査を行った。その結果,同池周辺地域において既存産卵水域は乾燥化などによる消失が多くみられた。一方,同池では年間平均100個以上もの卵塊が確認された。以上より,当池は整備後20年以上経過した現在も,なお効果を十分に発揮しており,道路建設により整備したビオトープが地域個体群の維持に欠かせないものとなっていることが示唆された。

本研究では、アイヌの集団的・文化的形成過程において海洋狩猟民文化の強い影響が社会文化伝統にも、集団的にも、存在したことを示唆する豊富な資料を提供することができた。浜中2遺跡の調査では、海獣儀礼の伝統が先行する先史文化から連続して継承、発展されアイヌ文化の中へ取り込まれていくことが考古学的に提示された。集団的な系統性については、先行研究で示唆されていたオホーツク文化の関与を補強する資料を得ることができた。提示されたアイヌ民族の集団形成性の複雑さは、集団のアイデンティティの形成過程や変遷についても、社会・経済・政治的文脈での検討の必要性を示唆している。今後も得られた資料の調査研究を進めていく。

A brief survey on the spectral geometry of a finite or infinite graph is given. After the adjacency matrix, discrete Laplacian and discrete Green's formula are introduced, the spectral geometry of finite graphs, particularly, estimation of the first positive eigenvalue in terms of the Cheeger constant, examples of isospectral or cospectral graphs and the Faber=Krahn type inequality are discussed. For infinite graphs, spectrum of the discrete Laplacian, the heat kernel and Green kernel are estimated. Finally, a relation between the finite element method for the Dirichlet boundary eigenvalue problem and the eigenvalue problem of the adjacency matrix for a graph is given.

<p>本稿は、白川和子が主演した日活ロマンポルノの団地妻シリーズ『団地妻昼下りの情事』( 西村昭五郎監督、1971 年 ) と『団地妻 しのび逢い』(西村昭五郎監督、1972 年)の分析を通して、「団地妻」が「密室に籠る団地妻」からの解放を模索していたことを明らかにする。団地妻は憧れのライフスタイルであるとともに、社会から隔絶され、孤立した「密室に籠る団地妻」としてイメージされてきた。ところが、団地妻イメージとして絶大な影響力を持った白川主演の「団地妻映画」は、「密室に籠る団地妻」からの解放を模索する「団地妻」と、会社に組み込まれた不安定な「団地夫」の夫婦を定型としている。「団地妻映画」は、「密室に籠る団地妻」というイメージにはあてはまらない作品であったのだ。ところが、結婚して本物の団地妻となり引退した白川和子は、「団地妻映画」と「密室に籠る団地妻」という相反するイメージを接続させ、遡行的に団地妻イメージの起源となっていく。白川が「団地妻」を演じた『昼下りの情事』と『しのび逢い』は、「密室に籠る団地妻」からの解放を模索する「団地妻映画」であったにもかかわらず、団地妻イメージの起源として捏造されたのである。</p>
