The brightness of a room interior can be roughly determined from its luminance. However, the luminance of a room interior is not even, but rather is an amalgam of high-luminance areas and low-luminance areas. In this research we intended to determine the effect of luminance distribution on brightness. First, we conducted a experiment to estimate the brightness of stimuli that are of the different luminance distribution. Next, a experiment that examined the relationship between the characteristics of luminance variations and brightness in interior environment was conducted. As a result, the brightness in a room interior depended not just on luminance of visual field but also on the distribution of field luminance, and that although luminance distribution that originates in the varying reflectance of walls and floors does not affect brightness to a great extent, the luminance distribution resulting from non-uniform lighting caused an interior to seem darker.

本研究は、金融実務家から要望が高い、数週間以上の長期的で広範な市場分析を、テキスト情報から安定的に行うための手法を開発した。業種別平均株価および市場全体の平均株価について外挿予測テストを行った。その結果、1ヶ月後の騰落予測について、過去10年間の長期間を通じて約60%以上の精度を4割近くの市場で、55%以上の精度は7割以上の市場で達成することができた。

This is a report and simple analysis of a survey concerning Japanese language students' awareness of Japan in a particular area of China. The students expressed highly positive impressions ofJapanese life, culture and people in spite of their anti-Japan ideology, but think Japanese leadership in the world is weak. On the other hand, their impressions of Chinese leadership are strong, while they place low value on South Korea. Also, it is mentioned that Yan Bian University continued Japanese language education during the long period after WW 2, when there was no direct connection with Japan.

白ワインはやわらかい肉や白身の魚肉に用いられ,赤ワインは硬い肉をやわらかくするために浸漬(マリネ)してその後加熱するために用いられる.しかし,両ワインの使いわけや調理特性についてはまだ科学的に解明されていない部分が多い.本研究では,両ワインの使いわけ理由を明らかにした.水,白ワインおよび赤ワインを用いて牛腿肉を浸漬および煮沸した場合の肉の重量,最大圧縮応力ならびに処理液のtotal phenol contentおよびsediment量を測定した.処理後の肉の重量は,赤ワイン,白ワイン,水の順で低くなり,逆に最大圧縮応力は高くなった.浸漬後煮沸した肉の最大圧縮応力は,浸漬なしで煮沸した後の肉のそれよりも相当低かった.赤ワインの組成に近似させたモデル実験の結果から,白ワインと赤ワイン処理における最大圧縮応力の差は,主に赤ワイン中のpolypheno1(おそらくtannin)によってもたらされていることを示した.柿しぶ液(tannin acidとして0.003%)含有白ワイン処理における最大圧縮応力は,赤ワイン処理と近似し,肉および処理液の着色や渋味も観察されなかった.

従来のキーワード検索では, キーワードを思い出せないと検索できない, 検索結果を順位付けすることができないなどの問題があった。これらの問題を解決し, キーワード1個からでも連想検索ができる検索手法として意味ベクトルによる連想検索技術を開発中である。この技術を画像検索へ応用した画像データベースを試作した。風景写真など約170枚の画像と, それぞれに付与した説明文からなる画像データベースを構築し, 意味ベクトルを用いた検索を行ったところ, 素人によって数語程度の説明文をつけただけでも, かなりの検索ができることがわかった。

The aim of this paper is to examine Shapiro's structuralism in philosophy of mathematics and to show several difficulties in his structuralism. He adopts ante rem structuralism which is based upon his realism. After delineating his arguments I will point out some advantages of his structuralism, which become apparent when it is compared especially with a traditional type of mathematical Platonism. Then I will show, by using examples taken from mathematics, that there are some ambiguities in his uses of the basic notions, such as structure, system, exemplification and place. Finally I criticize his axiomatic theory of structure mainly because it relies upon too many undefined terms, and show that in his ontological views there is an underlying discrepancy between his ante rem structuralism and his set-theoretic approach to structures.
