Grip strength is a well-known indicator of muscle strength. The trajectories of grip strength with increasing age refer to the aging and development process of muscle strength over one’s life span. The levels of muscle strength needed to perform activities of daily living or to prevent older people from developing disabilities are serious geriatric issues. Grip strength has been shown to decline with aging and to be a predictor of the development of geriatric problems, which suggests the lifelong management of grip strength has great potential for the promotion of healthy aging. The focus of this short review was to examine grip strength as an indicator of geriatric issues and to clarify the role of grip strength in relation to healthy aging.

This paper discusses a cross-linguistically uncommon vowel attested in Southern Ryukyuan, i.e. a type of unrounded central high vowel with a certain laminal modification, which Uemura (2000) labels as a "laminal vowel" based on his subjective observation. By providing new palatographic and linguographic data of the Miyako-Tarama variety of Southern Ryukyuan, I examine Uemura's description, and describe important phonetic detail of the "laminal vowel" and other relevant sounds. In order to explore an adequate phonetic interpretation of the "laminal vowel", I utilize a phonetic classificatory distinction of [flat] vs. [grooved] proposed by Pike (1971).

Four kinds of fungi were cultured on various media, including different surfactants, and their growth was compared. Cladosporium cladosporioides and Aureobasidium sp., which are common fungi in indoor environments, were inhibited by detergents, especially synthetic detergent. On the other hand, Scolecobasidium sp. and Exophiala alcalophila, the dominant varieties inside washing machines, were not inhibited. Moreover, growth of the latter two fungi was promoted even on media containing 0.25% of detergent. Scolecobasidium sp. and E. alcalophila are thought to utilize detergent as a nutrient, and to be adapted to the environmental conditions inside washing machines.

In our study, our purpose is to give human dexterousness about force sense to robot and we use Jenga game as its target. This paper describes our strategic implementation how robot remove blocks from Jenga tower. At first, we suggest Jenga statics model. A block which can be removed most safely is chosen, using this model. Robot judges that it can remove a block and removes after measuring actual static force and comparing it with model's value.

本研究では,解離体験とどのような防衛機制およびコーピングが関連するのかを検討した。大学生449名(男子231名,女性218名)に対し,解離体験尺度 (DES),防衛機制測定尺度 (DSQ-40),およびコーピング測定尺度 (TAC-24) を実施し,各変数間の関連性を調べた。単相関分析の結果,「極端思考・他者攻撃」的な防衛機制,「感情抑制・代替満足」的な防衛機制,そして「問題回避」コーピングと解離が関連することが示された。さらに重回帰分析の結果からは,解離は防衛機制との関連が特に強いことが示された。

「月輪観」は、単一で存立するのみでなく、五相成身観・阿字観・字輪観等においても用いられる観法としてよく知られており、密教における観法の中心である。それに対して「日輪」という用語は多くの密教経軌に説かれているものの、「日輪観」という観法についてはほとんど説かれていない。数少ない「日輪観」を説いた経典としては『無二平等経』や『理趣会普賢儀軌』等が挙げられる。しかし、日本密教における「日輪観」は、これら『無二平等経』や『理趣会普賢儀軌』等の「日輪観」を基盤として生じたのではなく、『菩提心論』における「日月輪観」こそが原点であったことが分かった。そして、特に興教大師はこの「日月輪観」を「即身成仏」するための観法として強調しておられたことが判明した。

In order to study the preventive and therapeutic effect of the amino acids administration for the sports-anemia caused by excessive sports trainings, the exercising albino-rats and sports-players in training were administered with amino-acids, and its effect on their blood composition was examined.The results obtained were as follows:When the albino-rats were forced to keep running for 14 days the“sports-anemia” appeared; progress of this anemia could be inhibited by the administration of threonine or its ferrous salt.Sports-players taking hard training can be prevented or recovered from the anemia by the long-period administration of composite amino-acids or threonine ferrous salt.

Occupational exposure to anticancer drugs may increase the risk of cancer and the risk of miscarriage and stillbirth, and cause other adverse events such as hypersensitivity reactions, skin/mucous reactions, and digestive symptoms. Several studies have investigated the use of closed-system drug-transfer devices (CSTDs) to reduce the environmental pollution by hazardous drugs. However, few reports have verified whether CSTDs contain the hazardous drugs within the vials. The BD PhaSealTM System is a CSTD that is frequently used in Japan. However, the fit of each anti-cancer drug vial has not been investigated. We investigated the fit of 71 major anti-cancer drug vials and protectors released and frequently used in Japan by means of a pressure compatibility test that we developed. The pressure compatibility test involved attaching a three-way stopcock to a Luer lock syringe and attaching an injector in line with the syringe. The pressure tubing was connected to the other side of the three-way stopcock and connected to the pressure inlet of the pressure gauge. The pressure in the anti-cancer drug vial was raised to 100 kPa and connected/disconnected repeatedly. If the pressure fluctuation during the 10th connection was within 6%, it was defined as “no change”, and the compatibility of the protector and the vial was evaluated. The median pressure reduction rates at the 10th connection ranged from −1.98% to −4.95%. All drugs surveyed had an error rate within 6%. The BD PhaSealTM Protector was shown to be compatible with the 71 anti-cancer drugs we surveyed.

Portal vein thrombosis (PVT) while using an angiogenesis inhibitor is relatively rare. A 70-year-old Asian man was diagnosed with PVT two months after initiating 5-fluorouracil/leucovorin, irinotecan, and bevacizumab therapy for rectal cancer with liver metastases. Because the metastases were small and shrinking, we suspected that the thrombosis might have been caused by bevacizumab-containing chemotherapy. We stopped bevacizumab and started apixaban, a direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC). Eight months later, the complete dissolution of the thrombus and recanalization of the portal vein were attained. Our case suggests that PVT can occur during bevacizumab-containing chemotherapy, and DOAC therapy might be beneficial for treating PVT in patients with cancer.

「歴史の和解」は往々にして国家主体の課題とされ、個々人の内面における記憶の継承や、対話、内的ダイアローグの生起や影響が軽視される傾向にあった。本研究は国家の枠組みでとらえられがちな歴史和解を、「人の和解」という点から問い直すものである。「他者」の声が立ち現れ、感情や記憶に訴えかける多声(ポリフォニー)が形成され、対話(ダイアローグ)が生まれる場として複数の「芸術」の現場をフィールドと定め、そこでの多声と公共圏形成の過程を分析する。インタビュー調査やPAC分析法など複数の調査手法を用い、芸術の現場で起こる対話と和解を探り、それによって「国家の和解」に対峙する「人の和解」のダイナミズムを模索する。
