自閉性障害の病態として, セロトニン系の関与が示唆されている.自閉性障害児における選択的セロトニン再取り込み阻害剤 (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor: SSRI) の有用性を検討するため, 保護者の同意が得られた自閉性障害児に対しfluvoxamineを投与し, crossoverdesignによる二重盲検法で検討した.行動評価表の項目別評価では, 視線と言語においてfluvoxamine投与による有意な改善が見られた (p<0.05).特に言語における効果は保護者の観察を裏付ける結果となった.Clinical Global Impression Scale (CGI) では約半数の症例で何らかの改善が見られたと考えられた.試験期間中重篤な副作用は見られなかった.小児自閉性障害においてSSRIは治療薬として試みる価値があると考えられた.

目的: 1歳児をもつ母親の育児困難感の有無を把握し, 母子の属性と育児困難感の関連を明確にする. 対象: 千葉県内の協力が得られた2市に在住する1歳児をもつ全母親910名 方法: 2005年10月に無記名自記式質問紙による郵送調査を実施した. 育児困難感がある母親の把握には母子愛育会日本子ども総合研究所が作成した子ども総研式育児支援質問紙1歳児用を使用した. 結果: 分析対象は有効回答が得られた362名 (39.8%). 育児困難感がある母親は21.0% (76名) であった. その内, 育児困難感I. IIともにもっとも強いランク5である面接相談が必要とされる母親は4.4% (16名) であった. 育児困難感がない母親は79.0%で, その内訳では全くなしが45.0%であった. 母の属性7項目との関連では, 妊娠中に異常があった母親と関連がみられた (p<0.05). 子どもの属性7項目との有意な関連はなかった. 結論: 育児困難感がある母親は21%であり2000年の川井らの報告と比較して増加していた. また, 妊娠中に異常があった母親は育児困難感を持つことが明確になった. 今後は育児困難感軽減に向けた取り組みの充実が急務であり, そのためには妊娠中からの予防方法の開発, 汎用性がある育児困難感尺度の開発が必要である.

In the development of the above 5% enrichment fuel, which is one of the targeted concepts of the next-generation LWR, a reduction in power generation cost is expected. However, the introduction of the above 5% enrichment fuel has several adverse effects on the cost, such as SWU increase, newly required measures for criticality prevention, and increases in gamma, neutron and heat production levels. In addition, the power generation cost is greatly influenced by the uncertainty of uranium price; thus, the sensitivities of those parameters were analyzed. By sensitivity analysis, the range of parameters required to improve the generation cost was clarified. We assumed that the throughput of fuel fabrication is reduced by one third by employing the above 5% enrichment fuel and the spent fuel is reprocessed in the FBR reprocessing plant. In conclusion, it is demonstrated that the power generation cost can be reasonably reduced by increasing enrichment up to 7% or more in the case that the uranium price is less than ten times as much as the reference price and also the increase in fabrication cost is prevented by introducing Erbia credit.

感性を感動を測る尺度と考えると,感性工学実現への道筋が見えるかもしれない。感性が尺度であるならば,その感性尺度で感性品質を測ることができ,その感性品質の程度量で感性価値が決まることになる。このように考えると,感性品質を高めることで感性価値の高い商品を作り出すことができることになる。現在,われわれが着目している感性品質の一つに高級感がある。高級感は量的変数としての性格が強いため計測しやすいというのがその理由である。ここでは,スキンケア化粧品の使用感と,パンフレットの文章を対象とした高級感測定の例を紹介する。

与えられた課題に対して、学習者がプロジェクトチームを組みアプローチをしていくPBLでは、複数の学習者が共同して解を導き出すため、学習チームをどのように構築するかが、科目の運営においては重要である。本研究では、文系大学における過去のPBLの実施経験から、課題の類型によって、学習者チームの構造やコミュニケーションのあり方が異なっていることに着目をした。診断、評価などの分析型問題においては、自律的に機能するホモジニアスな集団による学習が効果的であったのに対して、設計、計画などいわゆる合成型問題においては、ヘテロジニアスな集団が協調的に振る舞うモデルが有効であるということが明らかになった。

In Japan, it is often said that riding on or managing “nagare” is very important. Japanese practitioners often use the word “nagare”, which roughly translates into the English word “flow”, to represent the changing phenomena as a whole. Despite the importance of this concept, there is almost no research that directly focuses on the concept of flow in management studies. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to conduct qualitative research in order to understand and describe how people cope with the flow of phenomena in management practice. Two models were developed based on data gathered through questionnaires, interviews, my work experience, and various kinds of literature. Model 1 captures the cyclic nature of flow-conscious behavior that consists of (1) making sense of flow, (2) manipulating flow and (3) riding on or taking advantage of flow. Model 2 classifies the strategies for coping with flow into (1) becoming the center of flow by producing and enlarging it, (2) taking advantage of the flow that is produced by others, and (3) reacting passively to the flow that is produced by others. The relationship to other theoretical issues and implications for practice are discussed.

The usefulness of the flow construct (nagare in Japanese) in business and managementpractices is analyzed. It is considered that the flowconstruct in the practical context isessentially metaphorical and thus it is called a “conceptual metaphor.” The function ofconceptual metaphor explains how people use the flow construct in making sense ofchanging phenomena. Based on this, perspectives suchas cultural studies, evolutionarypsychology, and social constructionism are synthesizedto make arguments about whybeing conscious about flow in practice is considered effective especially for Japanesepeople. Limitations of using the flow construct in practice are also discussed.

Tadasi Seike (1891-1974), engineer-educator of mechanical engineering, wrote several books on engineering drafting which were favorably accepted by many engineers, successively played various important roles in engineering education and industrial standardization and was decorated with an order; however, there is certain question whether he had satisfaction with his own results of endeavoring on the advancement of Japanese machine industry, because almost every entrepreneur, who would be the largest beneficiary of Seike's theory of drafting aiming at the improvement in efficiency of labor at minor factories covering the major part of the industry in the first half of the present century in Japan, showed little interest in his arguments. This paper has the purpose to solve this problem through the explanation that Seike's arguments based on the scientific thought which was very rare among Japanese were not understood by the majority thinking mythically. The difference in types of thought between Seike and others was an invisible and very hard obstacle to the attainment of his promising plan.

Reactive oxygen species generated by environmental factors, such as radiation, UV and chemicals can cause sequence-specific DNA damage and play important roles in mutagenesis and carcinogenesis. We have investigated sequence specificity of oxidative stress-mediated DNA damage by using 32P-labeled DNA fragments obtained from the human c-Ha-ras-1, p53 and p16 genes. Free hydroxyl radicals cause DNA damage with no marked site specificity. Copper-hydroperoxo complex caused DNA damage at thymine, cytosine and guanine residues. 1O2 preferentially induces lesions at guanine residues. Benzoyloxyl radical specifically causes damage to the 5’-G in GG sequence; this sequence is easily oxidized because a large part of the highest occupied molecular orbital of this radical is distributed on this site.Recently, we demonstrated that BP-7,8-dione, a metabolite of carcinogenic benzo [a] pyrene (BP) , strongly damaged the G and C of the 5’-ACG-3’ sequence complementary to codon 273 of the p53 gene in the presence of NADH and Cu (II) . BP-7,8-dione also caused preferential double base lesion at 5’-TG-3’ sequences. Since clustered DNA damage is poorly repaired, it is speculated that induction of the double base lesions in DNA might lead to activation of proto-oncogene or inactivation of the tumor suppressor gene. Therefore, oxidative DNA damage induced by BP-7,8-dione, especially double base lesions, may participate in the expression of carcinogenicity of BP in addition to DNA adduct formation. Here, we discuss the mechanisms of sequence-specific DNA damage including clustered DNA damage in relation to mutagenesis and carcinogenesis.

Strong correlations were found between blooming dates and meteorological factors. Based on these correlations, predictive maps of blooming dates in the Japanese Islands were proposed for each case of 1, 2 and 3°C of warming. The correlation was tested for the blooming dates of Prunus yedoensis, Prunus mume, Camellia japonica, Taraxacum, Rhododendron kaempferi, Wistaria floribunda, Lespedeza bicolor, Hydrangea macrophylla, Lagerstroemia indica, Miscanthus sinensis, etc., using the data of monthly mean temperatures, warming indices and cold indices from 102 meteorological stations in Japan between 1953-1990. Simple and multiple regression analyses were used for the correlation.Among meteorological factors, the strongest correlation was shown for monthly mean temperatures. Notably, the strongest was obtained for the case of Prunus yedoensis. The cold index and mean temperature of the previous December also showed the best correlation for species such as Prunus mume and Camellia japonica. Strong correlations between the leaf color-changing dates of Ginkgo biloba and Acer palmatum and the monthly mean temperature were found in one month of autumn. In these species, there was a delay of 2-7 days with a 1 degree increase in mean temperature.The 30-year 1km2 temperature-climate mesh-file developed by the Japan Meteorological Agency was used for the phenological estimation and predictive maps of blooming dates. Each observatory station was classified according to its annual mean temperature. Blooming for each mesh was estimated through monthly mean temperatures and regression equations of corresponding stations. Then, distribution maps of predictive blooming dates distinguished by 5-day divisions were made.

The aim of this study is to summarize consciousness of the parents about introducing the hoist system. We conducted a survey of 311 parents of children with physical disabilities. We also asked 48 parents to experience the hoist system to answer whether they changed consciousness about the hoist system. A statistical analysis show that the parents changed preconceptions about the hoist system after they experienced it.The statistical analysis results are as follows.1. Parents are negative to introduce the hoist system even if their child has become heavier, because they think it easier to lift by themselves than to use the hoist system.2. Parents think that their bathroom is not large enough to use the hoist system.Many of them need more useful the hoist system in small bathroom.3. Parents think the hoist system is not effective because they have not used it. After they experienced to use, their impression of the hoist system has changed to be better significantly.

A 77-year-old man was referred to hospital because of dyspnea on exertion. Although the patient had been fully medicated for chronic heart failure (CHF) caused by hypertensive heart disease, the echo-estimated left ventricular end-diastolic pressure (LVEDP) and brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) level had continued to be high for at least 2 years. Pulmonary functional examination revealed concomitant chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Because β-agonists were expected to exacerbate the CHF, inhalation of tiotropium, a non-β-adrenergic bronchodilator and novel M3 muscarinic receptor antagonist, was used to treat the COPD. Not only did the pulmonary function improved but the treatment also safely ameliorated CHF signs including LVEDP and plasma BNP. (Circ J 2006; 70: 1658 - 1660)
