2009年4月に流行が始まった新型インフルエンザ。発生当初は大騒ぎになったが,かねて懸念されていた鳥インフルエンザほど病原性が強くないことが判明すると,一転して「普通のインフルエンザと同じ」とのイメージが広がった。 だが,その認識は正しくない。

We demonstrated second-order retrospective revaluation with three cues (T1,T2, and C) and an outcome, in human contingency learning. Experimental task, PC-controlled video game in which participants were required to observe about the relations between firing missiles and the tank destruction, consisted of three training phases and two rating phases. Groups C+ and C− consisted of same first two training phases, CT+ (cues C and T with an outcome) and T1T2+ followed by C+, or C− training for Groups C+, C−, respectively. In rating phases, it is clearly demonstrated that the judgment of predictive value for the outcome of the T2 were higher by C+ training (second-order unovershadowing) and lowered by C− training (second-order backward blocking). The results for Groups RC+ and RC−, in which the orders of the first two training phase for Groups C+ and C−were interchanged, also showed second-order unovershadowing and second-order backward blocking. These results, the robustness of second-order retrospective revaluation against the order of the first training phases, can be explained by the extended comparator hypothesis and probabilistic contrast model. However, these results cannot be explained by traditional associative learning models.

冷え性の病態に関する基礎的データの収集と,自律神経失調症との関連の解明を目的とし,冷え性に関する質問紙とConell Medical Index(CMI)を用いて調査を行い統計学的考察を加えた.対象は318名の女性で,年齢は20から51歳,平均26.4±6.1歳であった.結果は以下のとおりであった.(1) 対象の38.7%が冷え性を感じており,更年期のみならず若年者にも冷え性は認められた.(2) 発症の平均年齢は19.3±5.1歳であり,思春期後期の発症が多かった.(3) 冷えを多く感じている身体部位は足,ついで手であった.(4) 冬もしくは就寝前に冷えは増強した.天候や身体状況,とくに寒冷刺激により冷えが変化することが特徴的であった.(5) 冷え性の多くは生活上の工夫をしていたが治療を受けたものはわずかであった.(6) 冷え性のものには他の多くの身体症状を認め,CMIの得点も高かった.これより心因の関与の少ない本態性の冷え性は,自律神経失調症の部分症状としてとらえ得ると考えられた.(7) 冷え性のものの母親も多くは冷え性であり,冷え性の発症に関して遺伝的要因の関与が示唆された.

日立市河原子海岸では近年侵食が著しく進み,砂浜が消失して海水浴ができなくなった.本研究では,まず北部の会瀬漁港から河原子港間の長さ約4kmの海岸線を対象に空中写真による汀線変化解析を行った.次に,2015年12月26日には河原子港周辺海岸で侵食状況の踏査を行い,さらに河原子港周辺について1982~2013年に取得された深浅測量データを基にした地形変化解析を行った.侵食原因には,北部の会瀬漁港での離岸堤背後の遮蔽域へと砂が運び去られたこと,また2011年の大地震に伴う地盤沈下が係わると推定された.

強化学習を行う際,学習者は事前知識を持たなければ膨大な学習時間を費やさねばならない.これに対し,人間は他者の行動を,それが必ずしも最適な行動とは言えない場合でも模倣することにより探索時間を効率的に低減していると考えられる.本研究では機械学習の研究において,従来別々の問題として考えられて来た模倣学習と強化学習を,自然な形で融合させる学習手法を提案する.

Increases in the expression of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) are widely known to be involved in aberrant growth in the early stage of colon cancer development. We herein demonstrated that the novel indole compound MW-03 reduced PGE2-induced cAMP formation by catalization to an inactive metabolite by inducing 15-hydroxyprostaglandin dehydrogenase through the activation of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ. MW-03 also inhibited colon cancer cell growth by arresting the cell cycle at the S phase. Although the target of MW-03 for cell cycle inhibition has not yet been identified, these dual anti-cancer effects of MW-03 itself and/or its leading compound(s) on colon cancer cells may reduce colon cancer development and, thus, have potential as a novel treatment for the early stage of this disease.

台所で常に利用し、食品や器具類と接する機会の多い洗浄用のスポンジ・たわしは衛生的取扱が難しく、煩雑になりやすいと考えられる。そこで台所用スポンジ・たわしの微生物学的実態調査を行うと共に、Esherichia coli IAM12119[T], Bacillus subtilis IAM12118[T], Pseudomonas fluorescens IAM12022 [T]をそれぞれをスポンジに接種し、乾燥させた状態あるいは湿った状態で20℃、30℃と温度を変えて保存しそれぞれの消長を観察し2, 3の知見を得た。([T]は上つき文字) When we clean the utensils, we frequently use sponge scourers and scrubbing brushes in the kitchen. Therefore we investigated the actual conditions of these utensils and examined the surval and growth of bacteria in the preservation test of sponge scourers and scrubbing brushes. The samples that were inoculated with Esherichia coli IAMIAM12119[T], Bacillus subtilis IAM12118[T], pseudomonas fluorescens IAMIAM12022 [T] respectively, were inoculated and kept in an incubator at 20℃ or 30℃ for I day under wet or dry conditions. A few results were obtained, and we discuss them in this paper.([T] is subscript)
