遺伝子編集技術によって実現可能性が高まりつつある「デザイナー・ベビー」に焦点を当て,その現状や可能性と問題点について理解したうえで,生徒がグループ討論するための理科教材を開発した。討論では,市民参加型テクノロジー・アセスメントの手法のひとつであるフューチャーサーチを,大幅に簡略化して取り入れた。教材は,中学校理科の免許を取得する教職課程学生を対象に試行した。試行後のアンケート結果と発話分析から,一定の活用効果が明確になり,教材としての必要性についても高い評価を得た。しかし,説明や指示の分かりやすさなど,さらなる改善点も残されていることが明確になった。

目的:健康教育やヘルスプロモーションにおいて,人々の食行動への介入を行うことの倫理性及び効果的な手段について,社会的変化や急速に進む技術革新を踏まえて考察すること.内容:1)基本的人権としての「食べること」と介入の倫理性,2)栄養と健康を捉える視点(栄養学的観点),3)食行動を規定する様々な要因,4)ヒトの食行動の生理学的な理解,5)食行動の社会経済的な規定要因,6)デジタルトランスフォーメーション時代における新たな展開,という6つの視点から考察を行った.展望:基本的人権としての栄養や食物選択の自由を前提として,それらに何らかの介入を加えることの倫理性や社会的な正当性を考えることが必要である.また,食品企業等の経済活動に対して,国民の健康保護を目的として政府が介入を行う際には,その理論的根拠を考えつつ,食品選択に関して自己責任に委ね難い子ども等への特段の配慮が必要である.一方,デジタル技術を中心とした技術革新が急速に進む中で,新たな視点から食行動に関与する要因やメカニズムを理解し,社会におけるヘルスリテラシー促進の努力もさらに必要である.食と栄養の未来を予測しながら,新たな価値の創造につながるような健康教育やヘルスプロモーションの実践と研究を行いたいと考えている.

Empirical formulas for the determination of the earthquake magnitude M from the duration of oscillation F-P have been derived from the observational data obtained by the Wakayama Micro-earthquake Observatory, Earthquake Research Institute.The instruments used by the Observatory and its substations are the short period vertical seismographs of the same characteristics (T1=1.0sec, T2=0.025sec, velocity sensibility=40-120uμ kine/mm at 1 to 10c/s).The formula obtained from the comparison of the F-P (sec) observed by the network with the M determined by the Japan Meteorological Agency is:M=-2.53+2.85log(F-P)+0.0014Δwhere Δ is the epicentral distance in km. This formula is applicable to the earthquakes with Δ<1000km and focal depth ≤60km.Since the coethclent for Δ is very small, the correction term of Δ can be neglected for the earthquakes with Δ<200km, and in this case the following simpler formula is more conveniently applied:M=-2.36+2.85log(F-P).The magnitudes obtained by the former and the latter formulas are designated, in the figures and table, MF-P and M′F-P respectively.The largest merits of this method are:1) Wide range of magnitude can be covered with a single seismograph, since there is no difficulty in reading F-P such as ‘saturation’ or ‘under exposure’ in the case of maximum amplitude.2) The treatment is very simple, especially for the earthquakes of short epicentral distances.

本計画は、「10Hzから10kHzまでの帯域で高感度を持つ電極タイプの深海底用電波アンテナシステムの開発と深海底のELF帯電波環境の情報を得ること。」を研究目的として平成10年度より3年計画で実施した。今回開発した電極タイプのアンテナは、その帯域を10Hz以上10kHz(ELF帯)までに置き、DC帯域では問題となった海水と極板との化学反応によるドリフト(最小でも3μV/day)を回避するシステムを考案し、実用化し、最小検出感度0.1μV/mを達成した。研究期間内での観測において、「1000m級の海底でのCOSEISMICな電磁信号の検出を目指す」としたが、浮上装置の電池の液漏れに起因する超音波送受信回路の故障により、50m水深(ロープによる海底装置の引き上げ限界)までのデータ取得とその解析になってしまった。しかし、沿岸部から約6kmでの測定から、千m以深での測定の可能性について推定できる結果を得た。以下に、得られた結果をまとめる。1.ステンレス板を用いた深海底用極板アンテナの開発に成功した。(極板と海底ケーブルとの繋ぎ、利得10万倍増幅器系(帯域10〜10kHz))。しかし、長期間観測用の記録系の開発は予算の関係もあり今回は見送った。2.海洋科学技術センター委託研究(研究課題「室戸沖南海トラフ域における海底変動と生物物質循環システムに関する基礎調査」)の観測航海にあわせてより深海での予備観測を実施した。900m水深で開発した電極アンテナシステムが故障なく稼動する事を確かめた。3.20m水深での結果から、海水を含まない岩石層内部で、対象とする信号の振幅が100mV以上であれば、今回開発したシステムで観測が可能な事を示した。50m水深のデータからは、大気中の信号振幅が1V以上なかったので、同様の可能性を示せなかった。しかし、FWT法による信号処理の見通しを付ける事が出来た。

本稿では,公共事業の実施を巡る社会的合意形成の過程における葛藤のマネジメント方略について,全体連合の形成メカニズムを参照しながら検討を試みた。全体連合は,もともと独立した存在で互いに競争関係にある3者以上の当事者たちが,互いに譲歩したり妥協したりして,皆全員で一致して協同に合意する行為であり,より円滑な社会的合意形成方略の検討に有益な示唆をもたらすことが期待される。連合形成に関する実証研究の知見をレビューして,全体連合への動機づけを高めるには,当事者が自己利益だけでなく全体の利益までも考慮する視野の拡大が効果的であることを確認した。その一方で,当事者たちの協同への動機づけが高まり全体連合の提案頻度は高まっても,報酬分配交渉を経ることによって,実際に形成に至る頻度は減少してしまうことも確認された。これらの知見に基づき,人間は,協同を選択する際にも,より大きな自己利益を追求する動機づけを絶えず持ち続けることを認識することの重要性について議論し,インプリケーションの提示を行った。

Rapamycin (RAPA), an immunosuprpressive drug used extensively to prevent graft rejection in transplant patients, has been reported to inhibit adipogenesis in vitro. In this study, we investigated the anti-obesity effects of RAPA in C57BL/6J mice on a high-fat diet (HFD). Mice treated with RAPA (2 mg/kg per week for 16 weeks) had reduced body weight and epididymal fat pads/body weight, reduced daily food efficiency, and lower serum leptin and insulin levels compared with the HFD control mice. However, RAPA-treated mice were hyperphagic, demonstrating an increase in food intake. Dissection of RAPA-treated mice revealed a marked reduction in fatty liver scores, average fat cell size, and percentage of large adipocytes of retroperitoneal and epididymal white adipose tissue (RWAT and EWAT), compared to the HFD control mice. These results suggest that RAPA prevented the effect of the high-fat diet on the rate of accretion in body weight via reducing lipid accumulation, despite greater food intake. It is likely that RAPA may serve as a potential strategy for body weight control and/or anti-obesity therapy.

Soft coupling is a conceptual system in which two or more train sets on the same railway track can run like one long mechanically coupled train set, with very little space between the adjacent train sets. It is expected to open up possibilities for the realization of highly flexible and improved rail services. However, it is known to be very difficult for two separate train sets in motion to complete soft coupling, i.e., for the distance between these train sets to become zero. In the method we proposed in our previous papers, the time required for the completion may be infinite, because the train set that follows another must run faster when approaching the train set in front. This paper focuses on the method of completing soft coupling within finite time. We show that such a method can be proposed under the following set of preconditions: (1) infrastructure enabling the removal of the conservative safety concept of railway signalling called `brick wall' assumption, (2) simultaneous control of two train sets through a very secure wireless communications link, and (3) high-accuracy control of the deceleration of train sets.

Marcion, a Christian heretic in the second century A. D., is known as a docetist. This is closely related with the widely-accepted assumption that he used a special term, phantasma, with regard to the body of Jesus Christ. Admittedly, there is an exclusive connection between Marcion and the term phantasma. On the one hand, we know nobody else among his contemporaries who referred to the body of Jesus by this term. On the other hand, a number of Early Church Fathers speak of Marcion's phantasma so frequently that it is virtually impossible to deny that he has actually used the term for Jesus Christ. And Tertullian, by far the most important source of information about Marcion/Marcionites, knew two interpretations of phantasma : (a)vision, an noncorporeal entity that can be seen and heard, but cannot be touched ; (b)something comparable to the body of the angels who appeared to Abraham and Lot and associated with them just like normal human beings(cf. Gen 18-19). This juxtaposition of two essentially different interpretations indicates clearly that the term phantasma itself, at least, was not an invention by Tertullian, but a special word actually used by Marcion himself. However, if we investigate Marcion's own texts, i. e. his canon(Evangelium, Apostolicum) and Antitheses, we come to an unexpected conclusion : Nowhere can we find a clearly and directly docetic element in them, as far as reliable textual reconstruction is possible. On the contrary, there are a lot of "nondocetic" passages which show that Jesus undoubtedly had a tangible body(which contradicts the meaning(a) of phantasma ; see below). The word phantasma itself does not appear anywhere apart from Evangelium (Lk)24 : 37. In this verse, according to Tertullian, Marcion's text reads phantasma (cf. also Adamantius/Rufinus) instead of pneuma. But we should not accept this report without qualification. First, it is not a literal quotation. Tertullian may well have employed an anti-Marcionite cliche here, as he often does. Secondly, Jesus' disciples, who think he is a "phantasma", are not praised but scolded by Jesus himself in the following verses. Further, this reading destroys the contextual relation with v. 39, where pneuma is undoubtedly retained in Marcion's text. Last but not the least, this Jesus is the so-called resurrected one, not the proper subject of docetism. For these various reasons, we cannot consider this verse to be sufficient evidence for Marcion's phantasma-docetism. We must conclude, therefore, that neither docetism nor the term phantasma is clearly to be found in Marcion's own texts. To explain this contradiction, we must introduce the perspective of chronological development in Marcion : His phantasma-docetism belongs to his "pre-canonical" times. Although the "post-canonical" Marcion did not positively use the term any longer, the polemical cliche against it remained in use on the side of the orthodox church. As regards the two meanings of phantasma attested in Tertullian(see above), (a)must certainly be older than(b). (b)appears to be an alternative, ad hoc explanation given by the post-canonical Marcion or more probably Marcionites, who wanted to remove the discrepancy between their canon and the phantasma-docetism. in the meaning(a). A relationship in the reverse order, i. e. a development from(b)to(a), is hardly imaginable. As a matter of course, it does not necessarily mean that(a)was the original meaning in which Marcion used the term phantasma. This remains an open to debate. Our argument is based on the assumption of a critical change in Marcion. "Critical change" does not mean here a conversion from one definite, ready-made system of belief to another.
