In relation to the recent development of ultra high definition imaging technique (4K) that have quadruple amount of pixels relative to high definition imaging (HD), it has been reported that observer’s subjective impression differ between these imaging. The present study examined how differences in resolution (4K and HD imaging) influence subjective impressions of movies in association with movie contents (natural/artificial objects) and fields of view (wide/medium/narrow) (Exp1). We also investigated the effects of the quantities of motion on subjective impressions of movies in different im-ge resolutions with the flame rate higher (59.94 fps) than the previous study (23.98 fps) (Exp2). We found that 4K movies, as compared to HD movies, induced stronger impressions regarding evaluation and comfort especially when they were presented with natural scene and/or larger field of view. It was also shown that 4K movies with higher flame rate induced stronger impressions regarding desirability and comfort regardless of motion quantities, contrary to the previous finding that 4K movies with the larger quantities of motion gave observer lower impression regarding desirability and comfort than HD movies. These results demonstrate that the differences in image resolution could modulate subjective impressions of movies in accordance with the differences in movie contents, fields of view, and flame rate. Moreover, the current findings suggest that there exist some desirable conditions under which the ultra high definition imaging could effectively enhance observers’ subjective impressions of movies.

Hypertension is a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases and is detrimental to several organs including the liver and kidneys. The flaxseed-derived polyunsaturated fatty acids including the omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids have been shown to blunt the effects of hypertension. It is however, unclear whether the flaxseed, which is rich in these essential fatty acids, could improve the liver and kidney dysfunctions observed in the hypertensive condition. To test this, functional markers of the liver and kidneys, including aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), uric acid (UA), creatinine, and renin were examined in hypertensive male Wistar rats fed a flaxseed diet. Normotensive rats maintained on a standard diet were rendered hypertensive with a daily administration of cyclosporin A (CYS) (25 mg/kg) for 4 weeks. Subsequently, hypertensive rats were either fed a standard diet alone or a flaxseed-supplemented standard diet (FLX; 10% W/W) for 8 weeks. Compared to normotensive rats, standard diet-fed hypertensive rats had significantly elevated blood pressure, altered lipid profile, and increased plasma levels of tissue markers measured immediately following the CYS treatment and thereafter at 4 and 8 week intervals. On the other hand, rats fed the FLX-supplemented diet had significantly lower blood pressure, an improved lipid profile and decreased tissue marker levels measured after 4 and 8 week durations. The data demonstrate for the first time the favourable effects of FLX in improving liver and kidney functions in the hypertensive condition. These effects are likely to be mediated by the alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) and linoleic acid (LA) contents of flaxseed oil due to its demonstrated ability to lower the blood pressure.

植物体が雨を受けた場合, その生理状態がどのように変化し, どのような影響を受けるかを知るため, インゲンマメの葉, 茎, 根について, その伸長, 生体重, 乾物重, 水分含量, クロロフィル含量に対する6日間の降雨処理の影響を実験的に検討した。1) 葉の伸長, 生体重は, 降雨処理によって, 1日目は増大するが, 2日以上の降雨処理では減少した。葉の厚さは無処理区では増大したが, 降雨処理区ではほとんど増大しなかった。乾物重, クロロフィル含量は, 降雨処理区においてもいくらか増大したが, 無処理区よりも低い値であった。2) 茎の伸長に対する降雨処理の影響は少なく, 無処理区とほとんど変らなかった。しかし降雨処理により茎の生体重, 水分含量は著しく増大し, 逆に乾物重は著しく減少した。3) 根の伸長, 生体重, 含水量は降雨処理区と無処理区とではほとんど変らなかった。乾物重は降雨処理1~2日目では無処理区と同じ程度増大したが, 4~6日目には無処理区よりも低い値であった。4) 生体重に関するT-R率は, 降雨処理区が無処理区よりも大きい値を示した。乾物重のT-R率は逆に降雨処理区よりも小さい値を示した。このことは地上部は地下部に比べて, 降雨処理によって乾物重の低下が著しく, 生体重の増大が大きいことを示していた。5) 上述のような植物体の降雨に対する反応は, 地下部への雨水の浸入を遮断した場合, またはイオン交換水で降雨処理した場合でも, 同様の傾向であった。このことから, 地上部(葉)が雨水でぬれることが, 植物体の状態の変化に影響を与えていると考えられた。

Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death worldwide and developing novel therapies to treat and cure the disease remains a high priority in the healthcare research community. Adult stem cells were successful in entering numerous clinical trials over the past 15 years in attempts to regenerate the heart. First-generation adult stem cell therapies for myocardial regeneration were highly promising in small animal models but realized benefits in humans were far more modest. Consequently, second-generation therapeutic approaches in early implementation phases have focused on enhancing cellular properties with higher survival and regenerative potential. Genetic programming dictates cellular fate, so understanding genetic composition and responses at the gene level to influence the outcome of the cell is essential for successful outcomes in regenerative medicine. Genetic editing is at the forefront of scientific innovation and as basic scientific research continues to expand upon understanding eukaryotic regenerative themes, a clearer vision of the possible future therapeutic approaches can be realized. Ultimately, enhancing biology and manipulating evolutional selection of cellular properties will be critical to achieving clinically relevant and biologically meaningful cardiac regeneration.

個人情報保護法施行後、各地の現場では個人情報の明確な定義もなされないまま過剰反応ともいえる非開示が行われている。本稿では、岩手県・佐賀県などでの事例を挙げつつ、国の法と地方の条例との大きな相違点とその問題点を検証し、個人情報に対する過剰反応が通常業務に支障を与えることを明らかにする。また、国民に対する説明責任と健全な市民社会育成の観点から個人情報公開の必要性を論じ、最後にアーキビストとして個人情報といかに向き合うべきかについて問題提起を行う。The purpose of this paper is to analyze social influence wielded by the Act on the Protection of Personal Information had come into force on 2003.Since this law came into force, it has been overreacted to the protection of personal information in Japan; therefore, these cases of nondisclosure that have no legal grounds have increased.In this paper I take up these cases in some prefectures of Iwate, Saga and others, and clarify the distinction between national low and local regulations. Moreover, I demonstrate that overreaction in the face of protection of personal information impede their business.In conclusion, for advancement of civil society, I would like to raise how can archivist confront this problem.

The purpose of the present study was to investigate reliability and validity of Japanese version of the Primary and Secondary Psychopathy Scales. First, similar to the original scales, exploratory factor analysis of the data from a sample of 475 revealed two factors for the scale items. In addition, a sample of 77 provided good indication of internal consistency as well as test-retest temporal stability. Correlations with BIS/BAS scales and PANAS also gave support for the scales' validity. These and other results suggested that, with some reservations, the Japanese version had usefulness of the original scales to measure psychopathic tendencies.

Body care motions apply a large amount of stress on caregivers' muscles and spines, so most of them suffer from low back pain. One of the major factors of low back pain is the low back muscular load to keep the deep flexion posture. This study concerned development of a suit-type back muscle supporter named "the care suit," which reduces low back load. Elastic fiber belts (support lines) are arranged on the back and leg parts of the suit. The support lines are relaxed so as not to interfere with daily trunk motion, arm motion, walking, and sitting motion, but to exert tensile force and extension moment in the deep flexion posture. The care suit is a two-piece design to improve comfort and convenience. To optimize the layout of the support lines we developed a small reel-type device to measure body surface deformation. As the result of measurement by this device and a system for posture measurement during several motions, the back support lines are arranged in an x-shape from the side neck point to the point internally dividing the Jacoby-line at a ratio of 1 to 2. The leg support lines branch at the rear face of the thigh and are attached to the apex of the patella. The maximum tension of support lines is limited by the user's shoulder pain to 140 N for males and 85 N for females. The effect of the care suit was evaluated by electromyograms of back muscles. The action potential in the deep flexion posture was 25% decreased. In comparison with the conventional corset, the effect of the care suit for back muscle was equal, but the care suit is superior in that it does not interfere with flexion motion. The lumbar joint muscular moment during a diaper change operation was calculated from body posture through a rigid body link model. The results of this calculation showed that the stored load during the operation was decreased by 30% by the care suit. Furthermore the summation of intervertebral disk compressive force was reduced by 15% during the operation. Therefore the care suit is effective for reduction of not only continuous muscular load but also spinal load. Practical use by caregivers also resulted in good evaluations as it reduced continuous muscle load for a diaper change operation, bed making operation, etc. Conclusively, the low back load during body care motions can be reduced by the care suit developed in this research. This care suit is under patent application.
