臓器移植は生命の贈り物といわれるが、いかなる意味で「贈り物」なのかを考えたい。少なくともそれはモースが考察の対象とした「アルカイック」な贈与とは異なることがアメリカでの臓器移植を積年研究してきたフォックスとスウェイジー批判で示される。さらにこの問題を考えるとき、人類学で培われた贈与理論がどの程度有効なのかを、ワイナーとゴドリエからマリリン・ストラザーンへと、比較的新しい理論からそれ以前の理論へいわば脱構築しながら検討する。ゴドリエの理論は「贈与」されるのが生命それ自体であり、臓器はその表象であることを明らかにするのに有効であるが、西洋近代の人格概念を前提にしているため、ドナーと自らの二つの人格あるいは生命が併存する共同体として自己を受けとめるレシピアントの体験を据えきれない欠点がある。むしろ、ストラザーンのメラネシアの人格観のモデルが、そうした体験をうまく説明できるものとなっている。しかしストラザーンのモデルでは、柄谷行人の言う「他者」が不在であり、また柄谷にしてもストラザーンにしても「自己」が「他者」化する可能性は全く考慮されていない。自己自身にとって他者となる自己という主題を考察してきたのは、さらに時間を遡るが、レヴィ=ストロースである。自己の内部に出現する他者や侵入者というその視点から、臓器移植は概して外部からの侵入者の物語であることがわかるが、それを内部の侵入者としてとらえる余地はないか最後に検討を試みてみる。

The purpose of this study is to investigate the uses of the space satellite data for disaster management. The prototype of the volcanic disaster information system was constructed by using a Google Earth^<TM> Mapping Service, which has excellent performance of processing the image and altitude data.

重症疾患やお年寄り, そして身体的に障害を持っておられる方にとって, 病院施設内における車椅子の使用及び介助者の存在は必要不可欠である.介助者は, 患者を車椅子で搬送する場合, 大変に神経を使うため, ただでさえ激務といわれる介助者の仕事にさらに拍車をかけることになる.このため, ある程度軽度の患者や障害者は自分で車椅子を操作しなければならず, 大変な負担を背負うことになる.この状況を改善する一方策として我々は, 電動車椅子に搭載可能な, 自律走行を実現するナビゲーションシステムを開発中である.このシステムは, 走行経路探索部, ナビゲーションコントロール部および走行環境認識部より構成されている.本論文では, 走行経路探索手法について詳しく述べ, この手法を適用した例から本手法の有効性を議論する.

This Paper reports Honeycomb structure made of aluminum alloy in "Brugge 2002 Pavilion". Honeycomb and Sandwitched-panel have completely different strength and rigidity each other. The layout of these structural elements defines the stress diagrams in the both of structure and expression of the architectural patterns. The transparency of honeycomb, directed by the diagrams, makes the space and the structure of the pavilion abstractive. The synthesis of architectural expression and structural system harmonizes the Pavilion to the town with the medieval atmosphere. The work inherits "Realization of new spatial expression by abstracted structure" in "K residence at Sakura Jousui".

情報交換を目的とする文字集合の規格として,現在はISO10646文字集合,文字符号化方式としてはUmcodeを用いることが国際的な標準である.しかし,インド系文字は音素分解にもとづき文字符号を定義しているため,表示・印刷には複雑なレンダリング処理が必要となる.広く普及しているローマ字専用の処理系ではこれが不可能であるため,ローマ字用の処理系でもインド系文字が扱えるよう,様々な図形分解に基く符号化方式が応急処置的に作成されてきた.これらにより符号化されたデータが広く配布されているが,符号化方式は標準化されていないため,文書のアーカイブやデータ抽出に問題がある.本稿は,北方ブラフミ文字の例としてチベット文字のレガシ方式をとり,符号化方式の分析と自動識別方法を検討する.チベット文字レガシ符号の中には漢字集合に匹敵する大きさを持つものがあり,クメール文字とは異なりPDFなどではフォントがサブセット化されている可能性がある.このような場合の識別方式についても検討する.For Brahmic scripts used in India, Central and South East Asia, ISO/IEC 10646 defines the character sets by phonetic decomposition of Brahmic scripts with refering Indie national standard IS 13194. These character sets expect the complicated text layout system to render the coded text for display or printing purpose. To reduce the implementation cost by reusing Roman text layout system, there are various non-standardized legacy encoding schemes for Brahmic scripts. In this report, we investigate the legacy encoding schemes for Tibetan script as an example of northern Brahmic script which uses many ligatures. We found legacy encoding system for precomposed Tibetan glyphs. The glyphset of these encodings are so large that the subsetted font in the documents are expected to be quite smaller than whole glyph set. We discuss the encoding detection algorithm by subsetted font.

VFlibはC言語で記述されたフォントライブラリで、フォントより字形を取り出すための関数群より構成される。VFlibは各種フォントの内部データ形式を隠し、統一的なAPIでフォントより字形を取り出せるようにしている。そのため、新たなフォント形式がVFlibで利用できるようになったとき、VFlibを使っているプログラムは変更なしで新たなフォント形式のフォントが利用できるようになる。また、プログラムの開発者は、フォントファイルの内部データ形式を知らなくても、様々なフォントを利用できるようになる。本稿では、VFlibの機能と内部構造を説明する。そしてVFlibを使用した応用プログラム例として、T_EX組版システムで生成されるDVIファイルの表示、印刷を行うプログラムについて述べる。VFlib is a font library written in C providing several functions to obtain bitmaps of characters. VFlib hides the internal structure of font files and provides a unified API for all supported font formats. Application software using VFlib can support various font file formats and when a new font format is supported by VFlib, application software need not be modified to use such new fonts. Therefore, application software can use fonts without aware about font file formats. In this paper, we explain the structure and API of VFlib. Then, we introduce T_X DVI document viewers and printers as examples of application software using VFlib.

先に報告した拡張2次有理Bezier曲線による曲線近似法の応用と拡張とを述べる.まず 毛筆などの滑らかな文字の輪郭線を近似することにより 文字の品質を保持したまま 自動的に 少ないセグメント数で高品位文字フォントが作成できることを示す.次いで 先の近似法を拡張し 線図形を記述する点の間の距離が一様でない場合も 指定された誤差範囲で 最少のセグメント数で近似できるようにする.これを用いて 既に直線近似されているフォントを その品位を上げ しかも少ない記憶量で曲線近似する方法を示す.最後に 近似曲線に2次有理Bezier曲線を用いた利点として 座標変換および領域埋めが容易かつ効率的に行えることを示す.

Usage of self-excitation as an excitation method for cantilever-probe in atomic force microscopy (AFM) has been proposed in order to improve the low quality factor Q in liquid environments. For realization of non-contact mode AFM, it is necessary to reduce the amplitude of the self-excited cantilever-probe. In this study, the self-excited oscillation of the cantilever-probe is generated by the angular velocity feedback. In addition, the small steady state amplitude is achieved by nonlinear feedback proportional to the squared deflection angle and the angular velocity. Regarding the micro cantilever-probe as a micro cantilever beam, we show the equation of motion in which the geometrical nonlinear effect is taken into account. Averaged equation is derived by applying the method of multiple scales and the bifurcation diagram is theoretically described. Then, it is clarified that the amplitude of the cantilever-probe can be reduced by increasing the nonlinear feedback gain. By using our own making AFM, we demonstrate the nonlinear dynamics of a "van der Pol" type self-excited cantilever. Steady state amplitude of self-excited oscillation is reduced to 8 nm.

2-Ethoxy-3-methoxy-2-cyclohexenone (II) and 2,3,5-trimethoxy-2-cyclohexenone (III) were prepared from pyrogallol in a satisfactory yield. II was reduced with lithium aluminium hydride to 2-ethoxy-3-methoxy-2-cyclohexenol (XXV), which was not so stable. III was reduced under the same condition to 2,5-dimethoxy-2-cyclohexenol (XXIX) and 2,3,5-trimethoxy-2-cyclohexenol (XXX). XXX was relatively stable but was not so stable as the reduced product of acutumine (I).

ハーマン・メルヴィル(1819-91)は,人生の道半ばにして,作家から詩人と変貌をとげた。1856年から57年にかけての地中海・パレスチナ・ヨーロッパヘの長旅で,彼は,ユダヤ・キリスト教や西洋の芸術の伝統に,あらためて目を見開かされていた。それが,この転向に大きく影響しただろうことは,想像に難くない。文学の話にかぎっていえば,ギリシャ・ローマの古典から近代ロマン派にいたるまで,その伝統は,詩によって連綿とになわれてきた。小説家としては,ほとんど不遇なあつかいしか受けてこなかった彼が,王道の命脈を今なおたもっていた詩に,その後半生を賭けてみようとしたのには,こうして長い歴史を負ってきた詩的言語に磨きをかけ,詩的霊感(ポエジー)を媒体にして,世界の根軸にまでいたりたいという強い内的衝迫があったためと思われる。『戦闘詩篇と戦争の相貌』(1866)は,出版された彼の四冊の詩集のうちのひとつで,「南北戦争」(the Civil War, 1861-65)に材を取っている。黒人の奴隷解放をめぐって,同国人同士が戦火を交えざるをえなかったこの戦争では,合州国の建国の理念や,バックボーンとしてそれをささえてきたキリスト教が,大きくきしみ揺れた。ここでは,その揺れを,詩人として,どのように感受し,どのように表現しているかを,メルヴィルに特有な詩的形象や韻律をたどりながら検討してみた。詩にあっても,小説同様,構造として,繰り返し表れる「顔」に焦点をあてて。
