24時間365日運用可能なサービスを実現するためには、サービスを実行しているサーバの定期メンテナンスなどのときにサービスを透過的に移動できなければならない。そこで我々は、TCPセッションが切断されないプロセスマイグレーション方式を提案する。提案方式はオーバヘッドが低く、クライアント側のOSやアプリケーションの改造を必要としない方式である。したがって、既存のサービスにそのまま適用でき、透過的なサービス移動が実現出来る。これを実現するために、プロセスマイグレーションを同一サブネット内に特化し、OSレベルのプロセスマイグレーション実装と、プロセスごとに割り当てられた仮想IPアドレスを用いた。本方式を実装し、仮想IPアドレスを使用することによるオーバヘッドを測定したところ、約0.15%と極めて低いことを確認した。更に、ApacheやHelixDNAServerといった実アプリケーションも、クライアントとの通信が切断されることなく移動可能であり、実用性を検証した。To improve a service availability operating 24 hours a day for 365 days a year, it is important to support a service continuity mechanism independent on execution hardware and network environment. To achieve it, we propose a method of process migration with TCP session continuity. A Virtual IP address is provided for each service process, and is also migrated when the process is migrated to another computer. Since our method enables a server process migration without changing its communication address, there is no need to modify client-side sisters. Our prototype's overhead on usual network communications is extremely low about 0.15% with additional 19 virtual IP address on a NIC. Furthermore, we have validated that real applications such as Apache and HelixDNAServer are able to be migarated without lost connections.

Some Japanese Leibniz researchers have emphasized "the logic of the analogy" as the point about his chinology. This logic functions as a methodology, with which man can compare the Chinese thoughts with the European ones. But, how does Leibniz precisely judge, whether the informations that the Jesuits have send from China to him are correct? To this question, we can point out that there is the other logic in Leibniz : "the logic of the probability". Leibniz develops this logic mainly in the context of the debates on the reliability of the history, which have taken place around the end of the 17th century in Germany. In these debates, some thinkers agree with the Pyrrhonism on the history. But Leibniz objects to this point of view. He would prefer to establish the reliability of the history by suggesting different degrees about the probability. According to him, the consideration about the probability is based on a kind of calculation, whose exemplar man can find in the jurisprudence at that time. This calculation which demands the objective evidences is the essential of the logic of the probability, no less. Leibniz uses this logic not only in the field of the history, but also in that of chinology, to establish it as one of the objective and modern sciences.

フリーアドレス形式オフィスレイアウトでのVDT作業者の姿勢および身体的疲労感: 岩切-幸ほか.独立行政法人産業医学総合研究所-フリーアドレスとは, オフィス内の好きな机に作業者がコンピュータや資料を持って自由に座ることができる新しいオフィスレイアウトである.近年, このレイアウトの導入が増えてきていることから, 従来の固定席形式レイアウトと比較した, フリーアドレス形式レイアウトの実状と作業者の疲労状況を明らかにすることを目的としたアンケート調査を実施した.解析対象者は, システムエンジニア職でノート型コンピュータを使用している20歳から59歳までの男性VDT (Visual Display Terminals)作業者203名とした.そのうち, フリーアドレスの作業者は150名, 固定席の作業者は53名であった.フリーアドレス形式レイアウトは, 固定席形式レイアウトに比べて個人の作業スペースの改善に有効であった.フリーアドレスにおいて危惧されてきた作業者間のコミュニケーションやサポートの不備については, 作業者の不満は認められなかった.しかし, フリーアドレス形式レイアウトでは, 踵が浮いた姿勢で作業している者が多く, 椅子の高さ調節を行っていないと思われた.さらに, このレイアウトは, 首・肩および背中・腰のこり・痛みを増大させる可能性も否定できなかった.このことから, フリーアドレス形式レイアウトは, 何らかの問題を抱えている可能性があり, このレイアウトとVDT作業者の健康について更に研究が必要と考えられた.

わが国では犯罪被害者施策が急速に進んでいるが,その背景には特に犯罪被害者遺族を中心とした被害者運動があった.しかし被害者遺族に関する調査研究の動向をみると,被害者運動やソーシャルアクションに焦点をあてた研究は少ない.本研究では,被害者遺族の体験,特に被害者運動への関わりを取り上げ,事件後,遺族としてどのようなことを経験し,いかに被害者運動に関わり,なにを得たのかを分析することを目的とした.被害者当事者団体(「被害者の会」)の会員である遺族11人にインタビューを行い,「被害者の会」での運動参加・継続過程に関するナラティブを質的に分析した.この結果,「事件にまつわる思い」と,「遺族が運動に参加し始め,活動を続けていく過程」の2つのカテゴリーが見いだされた.さらに,エンパワメント・アプローチの視点から,パワーの欠如状態,エンパワメントの構成要素,パワーの生起するレベルの3点に関して考察を加えた.

Intraepithelial squamous cell carcinoma of the eye was encountered in two horses. It appeared on the conjunctiva of the left eye as a tumor of red-bean size and progressed to cover the lateral half of the cornea in about 3 months in a Thoroughbred stallion 16 years old produced in Ireland. It developed on the nictitating membrane of the right eye as a tumor of red-bean size in a Clydesdale stallion 10 years old produced in New Zealand. It was removed surgically in both horses under general anesthesia. Neither recurrenc e nor dysfunction was observed in these horses more than 6 months after operation.<BR>Biopsy on both cases revealed abnormal cornification of the middle layer of the epithelium, abnormality in cell division, and the appearance of clumping cells.
