本研究の目的は, 形式的課題における, 否定語の理解と生産の発達を調べることである。そのために, 類否定にかんして, 選択課題, 構成課題および言語化課題を行った。いくつかの教示 (下位項目) を組合せて, 被験者各人の否定および肯定の段階を定めた。また, 先行経験 (色・形分類または絵カードでの選択) の, 課題に及ぼす影響を見た。4~6才児54名を対象とした。選択課題は, 4枚の図形の中から「青い丸とちがうもの」や「青いものの中で丸とちがうもの」などを選択する。構成課題は, 色と形を分離した材料を用いて, 選択課題の下位項目に対応するものを構成する。言語化課題は, 指示されたものを, 選択課題の教示に対応する言葉で言語化する。その結果, 先行経験の影響はなかった。否定について, 選択課題と構成課題はほぼ同じ年齢で可能で, 1次元否定は4才ころ, 2次元否定は5才ころ, 部分補クラスは 5才ころ (構成課題では6才ころ) に可能になった。それに対して言語化課題は困難で, 5才ころ1次元否定ができ, 6才でもそこにとどまった。肯定については, 選択課題と構成課題では, 2次元肯定が4才からできた。言語化課題では, 1次元肯定は, 4才からできたが, 2 次元肯定は, 5, 6才ころにできた。肯定の段階は否定の段階より1年ほど先行していた。なお, 別の被験者で, 選択課題の材料の図形が, 4枚の場合と9枚の場合とを比較したところ, 難易に差はなかった。また, 選択課題の材料が, 図形の場合と絵カードの場合とを比較したところ, 肯定についてのみ絵カードの方が困難になった。絵カードの場合は属性によって困難さが異なり複雑になるであろう。

This paper is intended to meet the need for fuller and simpler explanation of the method of enjoying reading English Poetry. As the title indicates, it is a primer for reader who wants to maintain and cultivate an active, critical mind, to become increasingly sensitive to the beauty and inspiration of Robert Herrick's best poem. In so doing the author attempts to follow the tradition of Kazumi YANO and Kinji SHIMADA, that is to say, to produce a text-book that can also be read 'for pleasure as well as profit' by those who in their university days suffered those things which most of my own generation suffered. It is generally said that Robert Herrick stands situated in the middle between the Cavalier and Anglica poets. He is also a country parson in Devonshire. He writes well about the English country and its flowers. His love-songs are so sweet, as well. Especially, it is very interesting for him to mention 'death' so often, and so lightly in the religious poems in His Noble Number. The subject of this paper is attempted to appreciate the poem titled "Upon His Departure Hence" in great detail, with particular emphasis on symbols and imagery of 'grave' and 'cave' based upon the Holy Bible and so forth.

Induced somatic pink mutation frequencies in the stamen hairs of Tradescantia KU 20 clone, a blue/pink heterozygote highly mutable spontaneously at lower temperature, were studied after treating with relatively small doses of Co-60 gamma rays (39 to 551 mGy or 3.9 to 55.1 rad), and were compared with those of two stable clones (non-mutable spontaneously), BNL 02 and KU 9, which are also blue/pink heterozygotes. It was found that the gamma-ray-induced mutation frequency in KU 20 clone was comparable (18.8 pink mutant events per 10(4) hair-cell divisions per Gy) to those in BNL 02 (12.2 and 21.2) and KU 9 (17.4) clones, when the spontaneous mutation frequencies of KU 20 clone were relatively low (at most about 5.7 and 2.3 times of BNL 02 and KU 9 clones, respectively). However, when the spontaneous mutation frequecies of KU 20 clone were much higher (up to about 65 and 27 times of BNL 02 and KU 9 clones, respectively), induced mutation frequency was significantly higher in KU 20 clone (58.8 pink mutant events per 10(4) hair-cell divisions per Gy) than in BNL 02 and KU 9 clones. The extent of increase in the gamma-ray-induced mutation frequency in the latter case was nevertheless very much less than the increase in the spontaneous mutation frequency, suggesting different mechanisms of initiation and repair of radiation-induced and spontaneous mutations.

<i>Tradescantia</i> (clone KU-7) were grown at three points near a site of nuclear power plants and somatic mutation frequencies in <i>Tradescantia</i> stamen hairs were investigated for three years. The two points are located in the prevailing down-wind sector of the site. Mutational events in stamen hair cells were scored every day from the end of April to October for three years. In parallel with this observation, factors which have been thought to affect mutation induction, such as temperature, humidity, insolation, pollutants, radioactivity in the buds were measured at the three points. The daily exposure and radioactive concentration at three points due to the amount of the radioactive nuclide released from the nuclear power plant were calculated.<br>Mutation frequencies fluctuated daily, but they were estimated rather constant on average at three sites. Increase of radioactivities in the buds or other plant tissues was not detected during this experiment. The daily exposure and radioactive concentration were very low, for example, the ratio of the maximum daily exposure to the doubling dose was less than 1&times;10<sup>-7</sup>.<br>It has been definitely shown by this field experiment that radionuclide released from the nuclear power plants can not induce significant mutation of <i>Tradescantia</i>.<br>It was concluded that <i>Tradescantia</i> stamen hair system was not appropriate to monitor the environmental radiation from the power reactor.

<i>Tradescantia</i> in studies on genetic effects of low level radiation is briefly introduced. Radiosensitivity, method of screening stamen hair mutation, materials in current uses, spontaneous mutation rate, and modifying factors are refered. For stamen hair mutation b values in exponential model were lower in irradiation with low dose rate and at high environmental temperature. The dose response curves under these modifying conditions, when extrapolated to low dose range, well fit to the line which was obtained by Sparrow's experiment of low level irradiation. In chronic irradiation, the frequency of stamen hair mutation reaches to the constant value after 17 days from the start of irradiation, and is as much as 4 times higher than the peak value in one day irradiation at the same exposure rate. The spontaneous mutation rate of KU-7 varied with temperature. The increase with 1&deg;C increment of mean temperature was -0.04%. Uses of <i>Tradescantia</i> in monitoring the environmental radiation is discussed.

1) Sampling methods in the statistics of plant communities are<br>1&deg;purposive selection by some standard areas<br>2&deg;random sampling by the theory of large samples<br>3&deg;random sampling (areal sampling) by the theory of small samples. We have used the first or second method till now but in plant ecology we are ought to use the third method from now on.<br>2) From the theory of small samples, the confidential interval of population mean is<br>x+d_??_m_??_x-d, d=&tau;u/&radic;N<br>(d is the deviation of the sample mean from the populatin mean under the level of significance &alpha;) The h=d/x will become an indicator of the homogeneity of a plant community. For example, I calculated &ldquo;the coefficient of homogeneity&rdquo; to study various distribution of species on the <i>Ophioglossum</i> <i>thermale-Imperata cylindrica</i> var. <i>Konigii</i>-soc. at Futtu sea-shore of Chiba pref.<br>3) We can know the homogeneity of distribution of a species by the coefficient (h) and then deside the number of sampling quadrats to estimate an analytical character of a community.

植生帯と気候帯の関係はマクロにはよく一致するが, それは静気候学的観点に立った温度と降水量で説明される.日本の極相林帯は気候型との関連でたびたび論じられているが, ヨーロッパの考え方と一致しない.とくに亜寒帯や亜熱帯, ひいては温帯の概念が違う.ブナ林やカシ林の現在および氷河時代の北限と南限が年平均気温や最寒月の月平均気温との関係で論じられた.このごろの世界の植生図では, 気候の名称を冠さないで図化する方法がとられることが多い.しかし, 日本の植生帯やHoldridgeのシステムでは, 植生帯と気候帯を直接対応させている.<BR>また, 水平および垂直的な植生帯区分については多くの試みがあり, 極相, 二次植生, 群系, 群集, 植物気候, 植物区系, 種の分布などによる方法が可能である.<BR>一方, 気候帯区分については, 風系や気団による動的気候学の見方に基づくものが提案されている.つまりグローバルな大気循環に基づいて, 水平的な気候帯のみならず, 山の垂直的な気候帯を考えることも可能であり, その見地から植生帯を見直すことが必要である.
