"Sumiyosi Maru" is the first Diesel-electric tug built in Japan, of which the speed control is of Ward-Leonard system. That was designed and equipped at Kawasaki Dock Yard Co., Ltd. for their own use. That was, also, equipped with as power plant to supply electric power for electric welding and compressed air to ships in harbour. The descriptions of hull, propelling machineries, power plant, trial trips and towing tests are successively set forth.

This paper analyzes the reality of food waste in the Taipei first wholesale market. In a case study approach, this research identified the amount of food waste, the structure that produces the waste, and issues related to food recycling. The conclusions are as follows. The market 23.4 tons of food waste per day in 2011. The contributing causes to this food waste were weather influences, food packing practices and unsold food. As the Taipei Agricultural Products Marketing Corporation recycles all the garbage produced in the wholesale market, it is difficult to separate the food waste in the garbage for food recycling. Moreover, the Taipei Agricultural Products Marketing Corporation has a garbage separation system through price incentives for cleaning contractors.

インテルが開発中の64ビット・マイクロプロセッサ(MPU)「Merced」(マーセッド)によって, 一時WindowsNTの陰に隠れ勢いを失いかけていたUNIXが息を吹き返した.WindowsNTが64ビット・アーキテクチャに対応するまでしばらく時間がかかるからだ.しかし, 再度脚光を浴びたのはいいが, UNIXお決まりの陣営争いがすでに始まっている.そうこうしているうちに, WindowsNTに追いつかれてしまうということになりかねない.その裏には, オープンシステム手法は決してスタンダードを生み出さないという致命的な欠陥がある.

[概要] ソーントン・ワイルダーの後期のサイクル劇のひとつである「人間の七つの大罪」については, 彼の生誕100年を祝って, 1997年に全7作品がまとめて出版された. しかし, 今回論じる4作品に関しては, 彼の生前には, 「バーニス」は英語で上演されたもののドイツ語でしか出版されず, 「ドアベルが鳴り響く」と「シェイクスピアと聖書」はほぼできあがっていたにもかかわらず未完成のままとなり, 「セメント・ハンズ」は完成していたものの上演されることはなかった. これら4つの一幕劇をワイルダーが出版しなかった・完成させなかった理由は, くり返される主題を常に新しい表現形式で提示してきたワイルダーが, これらの作品ではそれをできていないことを認識していたからであろう. [Abstract] All of the seven one-act plays included in one of his cycle plays, The Seven Deadly Sins, which were written in Thornton Wilder's late years were published in 1997 in celebration of the centennial of his birth. However, four of the seven plays discussed here were not published or finished in Wilder's lifetime: "Bernice "was staged in English but published only in German; "A Ringing of Doorbells" and "In Shakespeare and the Bible "were left unfinished though they were nearly completed; "Cement Hands" was not staged though it was finished. The reason why Wilder did not publish or finish them must have been as follows: Wilder always expressed his frequent themes in different artistic styles for each work, and so he must have realized he had not shown any new style in stating the themes for the four one-act plays.

[概要]本論では, ソーントン・ワイルダーの後期のサイクル劇「七つの大罪」のひとつである一幕劇「5時25分発列車の大事故」について, ワイルダーのほかの作品との主題の類似, さらには, 小説『めざすは天国』とのモチーフの類似を指摘することを通して論じ, 主人公のホーキンズが「窓を通して見たもの」について考察する。ワイルダーはくり返される主題をそれぞれの作品において常に異なる表現形式で提示しようとしてきた作家なので, この一幕劇が優れた成功した作品であるにもかかわらずワイルダーが出版を認めなかった理由は, 彼がこの作品において芸術の新しい表現形式を提示することができていないことを認識していたからであろう。 [Abstract] The aim of this paper is to consider what Mr. Hawkins saw by looking through the window in "The Wreck on the Five-Twenty-Five," a one-act play that is included in Thornton Wilder's cycle play The Seven Deadly Sins that he wrote during his later years. Something Mr. Hawkins saw is considered by showing that this one-act play has a similarity with the themes of other works of Wilder's and also has similar motifs to one of his novels Heaven's My Destination. Wilder always tried to frequently express his themes in different styles in each work. Hence, the reason why Wilder did not approve the publication of this one-act play, although it is better and well known, is because he must have realized that he had not shown a new artistic style when stating the theme within this work.

1925年に出版された Cather のThe Professor's Houseは、科学の隆盛に裏打ちされた物質主義が人間の生き方に強いインパクトを与えた20世紀初期の社会を如実に反映した作品となっている。物質主義に抵抗しながらもその潮流に流され疎外されていく St. Peter 教授。物質主義にどっぷりとつかり互いに憎しみ、敵意さえ抱く St. Peter の家族や大学の同僚たち。The Professor's House は、物質主義に毒された人々が互いに真のコミュニケーションをもちえず疎外されていく悲劇的状況を描いた作品といえよう。しかしながらこの作品では、物質主義という外的要因に加えて、内的要因、すなわち人間の内面に潜む罪を犯しがちな人間のもって生まれた弱さ(human flaw)が作品の登場人物たちの行動や生き方を規定し、外的要因以上に、内部から登場人物たちをコミュニケーションの欠如した疎外状況に落し込んでいるかと思われる。この小論では、人間の内面に潜む弱さ(human flaw)を七つの大罪-the sins of pride, envy, avarice, gluttony, wrath, sloth, lust-に起因するファクターとしての軌軸でとらえ、それぞれの大罪がどのような形で登場人物たちの行動に現れているのかを分析してみた。

When killing notice videos of Japanese hostage by ISIL has been published in the January 20, 2015, a photomontage of Japanese Twitter user has processed the part of the video, relentlessly to Twitter account you think that the ISIL persons concerned was sending. Had been highly regarded abroad despite in Japan is a critical evaluation of this case. It was carried out re-examination of educational content related to information ethics in response to this case. And it is proposed to be added to educational content on SNS for convenience of anonymous communication. Specifically, the use of a SNS normally, some degree of anonymity is ensured. However, it is no longer anonymous to the moment the post content is may the manners violations and criminal acts, it is a learning content that could be personally identifiable.

Five specimens consisted of three genera and five species of chondrichthyes from the Middle Permian Akasaka Limestone in Kinshozan, Akasaka-cho, Ohgaki City, Gifu Prefecture, Central Japan are described. The fossil horizon is the uppermost part of the lower division (zone of Parafusulina). The chondrichthyan fossils were found in the pale orange and dark grey part of the grey-white massive limestone, and cotaining fossils such as Parafusurina japonica (Gumbel), Yatsengia ibukiensis Minato, Coelogasteroceras giganteum Nakazawa, ? Agathiceras sp. and crinoids. They are two teeth of cladodont sharks, Symmorium sp. and ? Symmorium sp., two dermal teeth of petrodi, Petrodus sp. and ? Petrodus sp., and one tooth plate of cochliodonts, Chochliodontidae gen. et sp. indet. Symmorium sp. is represented by a well preserved large cladodont type tooth. There are five cusps: a large central main cusp, mesial and distal side cusps and two small accesory cusps which are situated between main and side cusps. The main cusp is slightly inclined distally. There are many fine striae on the surface of the crown. The root of the tooth is composed of osseous tissues. ? Symmorium sp. is represented by a very small cladodont type tooth. The root and the mesial side cusp are not preserved. The cusps are straighter than the cusps of Symmorium sp. There are many fine striae on the surface of the crown. Petrodus sp. is a very large dermal tooth which is almost completely preserved. It is conical in shape. There are about thirteen radiating plicae and several circular growth lines on the surface of the crown. ? Petrodus sp. is one side of longitudinal section of the dermal tooth. It consists of two layers. The outer layer is thick and composed of white enameloid-like hard tissue which has many tubular structures. The inner layer is composed of black dense materials The tooth plate of cochliodonts, Chochliodontidae gen. et sp. indet., is observed from both sides in labio-lingual section. It is a large, curved, orally convex plate. There are five ridges on the occulusal surface of the tooth plate. The lingual ridge is largest and the other ridges become low and small towards labial side. It consists of three layers. The surface layer is thick and composed blue-grey enameloid-like hard tissue. The middle layer is composed of thin black substance. The basal layer is composed of dark grey hard tissue which is pale in some parts. This paper is the first report of cladodont type tooth of elasmobranchs, dermal tooth of petrodi and tooth plate of cochliodonts from the Japanese Permian. It can be expected that many kinds of fossil fishes will be found from the Paleozoic of Japan, in future.

In the 17th and 18th centuries, among the thirteen colonies of Britith America, the southern colonies especially played an important role in the old colonial system. They were producing staples such as tobacco, rice , etc., utilizing white indentured servants first, then black slaves. Slaves however time after time tried to escape from the yoke of the plantation system, and this paper deals with them or runaway slaves. For examining them as a whole, runaway slave advertisements in newspapers are the most suitable materials in existence. We take a quantitative method to analyze a lot of advertisements collected from colonial newspapers in Maryland and Georgia(Annapolis Maryland Gazette and Savannah Georgia Gazette) from the 1740s through the 1760s. They give us precious information on several aspects of runaways. Based on the information, we can tell the typical, average character of runaway slaves and their flights as follows. They were male and country-born blacks, mulattoes(in Maryland) or foreign-born blacks(in Georgia). Their average age was 26/27. In the busy farming season of spring, summer or fall, they tried to escape alone or in small groups. Some of them were able to speak English, able to cope with skilled works, but some were not. For the capture of these runaways, in about a month after their flights, planters advertised in a newspaper with the statement of reward that is, to some degree, fixed from custom, but also varied in accordance with the time after the flights and the attributes of runaways. Their number however kept growing during the period. One of the most interesting facts found in this analysis is that the character of runaway slaves in Maryland and Georgia was quite similar except thir racial composition. This fact tells us the general robustness of the slave-worked plantation system.

[抄録]本論では, ソーントン・ワイルダーが作家としての後期に構想した, 一幕劇によるサイクル劇「人間の七つの大罪」に収められている「酔っ払った運命の三女神」について, その演劇的手法の特徴, これまでの研究者による批評の流れ, 作者がサイクル劇を円形劇場で上演する意図を論考したのち, ワイルダーがこの一幕劇を多幕劇『アルケスティス』のサチュロス劇として創作しただけでなく, 「人間の七つの大罪」にも収載した理由を考察する. そして, その理由は, この一幕劇はギリシア演劇の流れをくむ要素を多くもっているので, 円形劇場でサイクル劇を上演することでの演劇の復興のまさに象徴的な作品となるとワイルダーが考えたからだと推察する.著者専攻: 英米文学

The purpose of this study was to compare Mushin (the state of no thought, no mind), A. H. Maslow's Peak Experience, and M. Csikszentmihalyi's Flow. Masters have purported Mushin as the goal of Budo and Geido throughout the history. This study clarified the community and the difference of these three.This research was based on literatures written by a Japanese master swordsman who had lived in 17th century (Munenori Yagyu), his teacher in Zen (Takuan), a Zen master (D. T. Suzuki) in present day, Maslow, and Csikszentmihalyi. The meanings of Mushin, Peak Experience, and Flow were identified by the literatures review. Then these three were compared to clarify the community and the difference of them.The results were as follows:Mushin is to devote oneself to what one is doing. Mushin is to feel oneself, to consider what one should do, and to decide what one does. Peak Experience and Flow concerns the phenomenon in which one devote oneself. This is the community of them and Mushin. But, Peak Experience and Flow are psychological state that isn't accompanied by any consideration or decision, however they are necessary for Mushin.Mushin is just to devote oneself on what one really wants to do. Peak Experience and Flow include this, too. This can be called as living Mushin. Because, this Mushin concerns what one really wants to do. With this Mushin, one actualizes what one is, and one's life can be said to be living.But, in the case of Peak Experience and Flow, they also include the phenomenon in which one is concentrated on something naturally and automatically. The moment of laughter at a funny story is an example. This can be called as Mushin that isn't living. Because, one doesn't actualize what one is with this Mushin. This Mushin has danger side. This Mushin doesn't concern the thing that one really wants to do. So, in this Mushin, one isn't living.Peak Experience and Flow include both of Mushin. And, Mushin that masters has purported as the goal of Budo and Geido is just living Mushin. It is the difference of these three.

ELISAによるラット血清中の抗コロナウイルス抗体検出のために, 唾液腺涙腺炎ウイルス (SDAV) TG株, パーカーのラットコロナウイルス (PCV) 8190株, 及びマウス肝炎ウイルス (MHV) S及びNuU株で作製した抗原の, 免疫血清及び自然感染血清との反応性を比較検討した。免疫血清についての検討では, SDAV及びPCV抗原は, 同種抗原に対する抗血清と最も高い反応性を示した。一方, MHV抗原はすべての抗血清と同程度の反応性を示し, また, MHV-Sの方がMHV-NuUより高い反応性を示した。数ヵ所のラット飼育集団由来の自然感染血清と各抗原との反応性は, SDAV, MHV-S, MHV-NuU, PCVという順に高い傾向を示し, SDAV陰性の血清で他の抗原に陽性のものは認められなかった。また, SDAV陽性の血清は, MHV-S, MHV-NuU, PCVの順に陽性率が低下する傾向がみられた。これらの結果より, ELISAによるラットのコロナウイルス抗体の検出にはSDAVおよびPCV抗原の使用が最適であるが, ウイルス株によってはMHV抗原も利用し得ることが示唆された。
