The amounts of endotoxin in commercial blood products were measured by the turbidimetric kinetic Limulus test with an ordinary reagent (LAL-HS) and a new endotoxinspecific reagent (LAL-ES). LAL-ES contains a sufficient amount of a water-soluble (1→3)-β-D-glucan derivative as a blocker of the (1→3)-β-D-glucan-mediated coagulation pathway in the reaction of the Limulus amebocyte lysate. The amounts of endotoxin in alubumin and globulin products measured with LAL-ES agreed with pyrogenic activities in rabbits, but those measured with LAL-HS did not. Added endotoxin in the blood products was well recovered with LAL-ES, but that in some products was excessively recovered with LAL-HS. The amounts of endotoxin in diphtheria-pertussis-tetanus combined vaccines measured with LAL-HS and LAL-ES agreed with the pyrogenic activities in rabbits. The results suggested the existence of a false-positive substance like β-glucan in the blood products but not in the vaccine. LAL-ES is more suitable for the detection of endotoxin in blood products than LAL-HS.

The pyrogenic activity of 10% inulin injections prepared at a hospital pharmacy was measured using the Pyrogen test in Japanese Pharmacopeia (JP), while the endotoxin concentration in the injections was determined by the, Limulus test, which were JP Endotoxin test and a turbidmetric kinetic assay. After the intravenous administration of 30 ml of inulin injections to a rabbit, the rectal temperature rose to 1.5° compared with that before administration. As a result, the endotoxin was found in all lots of the inulin injections tested, and their values were markedly beyond the limit of Water For Injections prescribed in JP (0.25 EU/ml). In addition, the endotoxin content varied between the various lots of inulin powder, and also between the manufacturers. The endotoxin in inulin injection was removed (less than the quantitative limit of 0.031 EU/ml) by adding activated carbon black to the injection or the filtration using a Posidyne® Nylon 66 filter. No pyrogenic activity was observed in the inulin injections after the removal of endotoxin.Based on these results, the adverse effects induced by inulin injections may thus be caused by endotoxin derived from inulin. This method using either adsorption or filtration is thus considered to be useful for the removal of endotoxin when preparing inulin injections.

Japan started full-scale renewable energy after two oil shocks. The government take the efforts into the Sunshine plan (new energy) and Moonlight plan (energy conservation). We promoted research and development of industry, academia and government collaboration. However, MITI just focused on sunlight only in renewable energy in 1993. Since 2005, it was a dark ages for renewable energy, partly excluding biomass. The introduction of renewable energy is now progressing with the introduction of the FIT system in 2012.

写真:ニール号遭難記念碑The present article is founded upon the manuscripts which I have recently discovered in Iruma (入間) Izu. They are the reports of sea accidents in the begining of the Meiji era. By this record we can fortunately learn of the careers of two important persons who made great contributions toward cultural development in modern Japan. One of them is Masatsuna Okuno (奥野昌綱). We can read his life and work in the record of shipwreck of the Kanrinmaru (咸臨丸) in 1868. He was a vassal of Kugenhoshinno (公現法親王) who was the highest priest of the shrine dedicated to the Shogunate family. At the time of Meiji Restoration, Kugenhoshinno escaped from the pursuit of the Imperial army and went to Sendai leaving his vassals. As a faithful servant, M. Okuno tried to follow his master and embarked the Kanrinmaru, a battleship belonging to the Tokugawa (徳川) party, to go to Sendai. But the Kanrinmaru was stranded on the coast of Shimoda. This unexpected incident seriously affected his later course of life. After a long wandering he made up his mind to become a Christian and devoted himself to the missionary work all through his life. He is to be rememvered as one of the first translators of the Holy Scritures in Japan. The other notable person appearing in these documents is Antoine Liccioni. He died as a passenger of the Nille, a French steamer, which shipwrecked near Iruma in 1874. We can find his deed in the record of that sea accident. He had played a leading part in a dockyard at Yokosuka which had been established by the Tokugawa Government. We can not underestimate Liccioni's contribution to the development of shipbuilding industry in Japan.

花ユリで見られる色素構成を解明するために, 21種類の花ユリについて花被に含まれるカロチノイドを呈色反応, T.L.C., カラムクロマトグラフィー, 吸収スペクトルおよび分配の諸方法を用いて定性的に調査し, 以下の結果を得た。<br>1. 21種類の花ユリのうち, 18種類にカロチノイドが存在し, それらは&beta;-カロチン, クリプトクサンチン, エキニノン様カロチノイド, ゼアクサンチン, カプサンチンおよびカプソルビンの6種であつた。<br>2. 黄花ユリは&beta;-カロチン, クリプトクサンチンおよびゼアクサンチンにより黄色に色彩発現していた。<br>原種の橙花ユリは, その色素構成により二つのグループにわけられた。一つはエキニノン様カロチノイドにより橙色に色彩発現しているグループで, これに属する花ユリは2種類あつた。他はカプサンチン&bull;カプソルビンにより橙色に色彩発現している種で, この色素をもつ花ユリは5種あつた。<br>3. 二つの交配種ではエキニノン様カロチノイドもカプサンチンカプソルビンも共存して, 赤色系に色彩発現していたが, これは種の成立過程で両グループの原種が交雑されていることを示唆している。<br>4. オニユリを除く赤色系花ユリの原種では橙色カロチノイドとアントシアニンは共存せず, いずれか一方の色素により色彩発現をしているが, 交配種ではこの規則性は失われ両色素が共存していた。<br>5. 花ユリの交雑親和性-特にアントシアニン系グループとカロチノイド系グループとの親和性-と花色を構成する色素の種類との間には絶対的な関連性があるとは思われなかつた。

The prevention of endotoxin (ETX) contamination is important for manufacturing injections. As a result, the concentration of ETX in injections has been recently regulated in the Japanese Pharmacopoeia. In this study, ETX in 8 injections prepared at a hospital pharmacy were measured and the removal of ETX by filtration using a charged membrane filter (CMF) made of Nylon 66 (Zetapor®, CUNO) was evaluated. ETX was automatically measured with a Limulus test employing a turbidmetric kinetic assay (Toxinometer®, WAKO). ETX in H2SeO3 and MnCl2 injections were measured without dilution but others need to be diluted to eliminate any interference with the reaction. In particular, the ZnSO4 injection was diluted 2000 times. In the preparations, only 1 % indigocarmin injection showed 0.311 EU/mL of ETX.In a preliminary evaluation, CMF removed ETX completely in the non-electrolytic solutions such as glucose. However, in electrolytic solutions like NaCl, the filtration efficiency of CMF was suggested to decrease by some factors such as the concentration of electrolytes, the pH of the solution and the origin of ETX. In 0.9% NaCl solution to which the control standard ETX was added, the recovery rate of ETX using CMF was 0.3-2%. In 10% NaCl solution, the recovery rate was 37-47% under the same conditions, but it became 75-79% when another origin of ETX was added. In the actual process of preparations, ETX was found in 1 % indigocarmin injection, but it was not found in them when CMF was used. ETX was not removed by a usual filter membrane without any charging and not inactivated completely by steam sterilization. Therefore, filtration using CMF was found to effectively remove ETX together with steam sterilization.Filtration using CMF is thus considered to be a simple and effective method for maintaining a good quality of injections prepared at hospital pharmacies.

The gummi base, investigated demonstrates a color change (browning) during long periods of storage, which is considered to be caused by the Maillard reaction between sugars and gelatin. This change poses a problem in guaranteeing the quality of pharmaceutical medicines in hospital. Therefore, the starch syrup and sugar, components which caused the browning reaction in the gummi base, were replaced by hydrogenated maltose starch syrup which has no aldehyde as a functional group in the structure. The new gummi base using hydrogenated maltose starch syrup displayed fewer color changes than the gummi base so far at 35°C for 2 months. These results suggest that replacing the sugar in the gummi base by sugar alcohol increases the stabilization in the appearance of the gummi base during long periods of storage while still maintaining suitable sweetness and texture.

市民革命期の公教育プランにおいては科学の教育は重視されるが, 反動〜革命〜反動と勢力図が変転する19世紀フランスにおいて、科学教育の地位は不安定な状態におかれる。エリート養成を使命とし、それゆえ人間を考察する文芸教育が極めて重視されてきた中等教育においてとりわけそのことがあてはまる。しかし、産業化の進展にともない職業教育そしてそのための基礎教養として科学教育の必要性が主張されるようになる。1852年のフォルトゥル文相による専攻別クラス分け制度の創設はそのような世論に応える試みであったが、社会的認知を受けるに至らなかった。

本報告では,音楽信号のような多重音を解析するための手法として,Bayesian nonparametrics に基づく音響信号スペクトログラムのモデル化方法を提案し,その構成法と推論について議論する.近年,非負値行列分解に代表されるようなスパース表現基づく音楽信号のモデル化が盛んに研究されている.その中で解決すべき二つの問題が注目を集めている.一つ目は楽器音が時間変化する多様なスペクトルを持つ点であり,もう一点は観測信号中に含まれる音源の数が一般的には未知なことである.さらに,楽器音の多様なスペクトルは音源数の推定を困難にし,また逆に音源数が未知であることによって一音一音がどの程度多様なスペクトルを持つか推定することを困難にしている.本報告では,これら二つの課題を同時に解消するために,信号の重畳を表す非負値行列分解型のスパース表現と時系列パターンを表現する隠れマルコフモデルを Bayesian nonparametrics 上で融合させたスペクトログラムモデルを提案する.This paper presents a Bayesian nonparametric latent source discovery method for music signal analysis. Recently, the use of latent variable decompositions, especially nonnegative matrix factorization (NMF), has been a very active area of research. These methods are facing two, mutually dependent, problems: first, instrument sounds often exhibit time-varying spectra, and grasping this time-varying nature is an important factor to characterize the diversity of each instrument; moreover, in many cases we do not know in advance the number of sources. Conventional decompositions generally fail to cope with these issues as they suffer from the difficulties of automatically determining the number of sources and automatically grouping spectra into single events. We address both these problems by developing a Bayesian nonparametric fusion of NMF and hidden Markov model (HMM).

Nowadays Relevant Theory, widely applied in many fields includinganthropology, psychology and linguistics, has greatly influenced theadvancement of human civilization. This thesis analyzes the function of rubywithin the perspective of Relevant Theory.Ruby has not only the function of phonetic transcription but also someother functions within Relevant Theory: 1 explanation, 2 semanticconstriction, 3 deixis, 4 cue of era and settings. Deixis can be furthercategorized into present deixis and recollected deixis.Analyzing ruby is very helpful to understand the content of work from aRelevant Theory perspective. Thus, readers can grasp the intention of thewriter.
