Pharmaceutical Industry in Japan has made an fairly advancement since 1980s. In the course of the advancement, GMP played an important role, which has close relations with the development particularly, in CMC (Chemistry and Managing Control) and pre-approval inspection. In this paper, relationship between GMP and the development of pharmaceuticals has been discussed through the author's experiences. In 1980s, Takeda developed three kinds of Cephem-antibiotics in Japan, however, failed to launch them in USA due to the delay of their development. The delay was partly caused by GMP and regulatory procedures to FDA. In the next decade, Takeda has made a great success in developing LUPRON DEPOT, a drug of prostatic cancer and other new pharmaceuticals. These successes have been attributed to the well designed manufacturing process based on GMP. The complex aseptic processes have been designed and validated based on the current GMP. As the next new product, Aripiprazole (ABILIFYTM), a drug for schizophrenia, developed by Otsuka was successfully launched in USA by use of an alternative facility located in Japan, which was approved by FDA. The facility took a place of a problematic facility located in other country. Both of the products became blockbuster products in 2000s. Next to these successes, bio-product, which is now under development has encountered with several problems to overcome. Some of them are GMP and how to keep consistency from the initial stage of development to the stage of industrial production. These would be overcome in near future by taking GMP and consistency into account.

ドライウォーター,ドライポリマー水溶液,ドライゲルなどのドライ物質の調製をさまざまな条件で試みるとともに,調製に及ぼす諸条件について検討した.内部液相の表面張力や粘度と調製の際のかくはん時間(機械的エネルギー)が複雑にからみ合って調製の可否が左右されることが明らかとなった.また,表面張力の低さが原因でドライポリマー水溶液が調製されない系では,ポリマー水溶液相をゲル化することでドライ物質を調製可能な高分子種の選択領域を広げることが可能となることを見いだした.

The history of water disasters and hazards characteristics in the part of Tokyo East lowland(below sea level area): In the present paper, the author has studied the history and characteristics of water disasters in low ground of east part of Tokyo, where the ground surface is almost below-sea-level. Tokyo East lowland was basically formed by transforming Tone River to the east and Arakawa River to the west in the Tokugawa era. Through the flood disasters from the Meiji to Showa era,Arakawa Chanel and Edogawa Chanel were newly opened and a reclamation land at Kasai was constructed to avoid flood disasters in Tokyo East lowland. However, the numerical simulations at present study reveals that the existing of fundamental risks of flood disasters in Tokyo lowland and Edogawa ward is still in danger by the lower height of dykes on the left side of Arakawa River. From a case study of numerical simulation assuming high tide with a supplemental high water by climate change around Arakawa River mouth,Edogawa ward might be easily flooded within 2 days. As there is now a high density population in Tokyo East lowland, the countermeasures against the coming flood disasters must be planned and conducted properly and urgently.

<p>Quantitative studies and process models of narrative persuasion published since 2000 were reviewed in order to identify influences of narratives on readers' attitudes that result from changes in thinking and affect. Firstly, characteristics of narrative persuasion research were briefly introduced by summarizing definitions of narratives and attitudes, and by illustrating typical methodologies of narrative persuasion research. Secondly, theories on the process of narrative persuasion and narrative experiences were reviewed. These models were then integrated and the process of narrative persuasion was categorized into thinking and affective routes, and each process was explained with reference to supportive studies. It was suggested that the affective route currently has stronger empirical support than the thinking route. Finally, topics for future research were suggested, which include closely examining each process, improving methodologies, and comprehensively investigating relationships between narrative persuasions and narrative experiences.</p>

イスラーム世界の中では西欧型の近代化を推し進めてきたチュニジアであるが、都市に住み、比較的教育の機会に恵まれやすい女性たちがいる一方、地方に住み、教育を受ける機会が少なく、社会的に低い位置に押しとどめられている女性たちもいることは事実である。本研究では、教育を受ける上で都市と地方の女性の間には、どのような格差の構造があるのかを以下の点から明らかにした。(1) <b>家事労働にかかる時間</b> 地方では、しばしば水道が引かれておらず、生活のための水汲みに時間がかかることがある。(2) <b>経済格差</b> 地方の多くの貧困家庭では、授業料は無料であっても就学のための隠れた出費 (教科書や教材代など) を兄弟全員分負担することができず、その結果男児が優先されることになる。(3) <b>学校までの距離</b> 地方では小・中学校ですら、何キロも離れたところにしかない場合もあり、女児を通学させることに難色を示す親が多い。(4) <b>マスメディアの普及</b> 地方ではテレビなどの普及率が低く、政府の女性に対する政策を知る機会がない。(5) <b>慣習</b> 地方では女児に対する慣習が残っており、女児に対する教育、また外で就労させることに消極的である。

A 14-year-old intact male West Highland White Terrier weighing 6.9 kg was admitted to the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology Animal Medical Center with the complaint of syncope after showing signs of nausea during feeding. Sinus arrest induced by deglutition was confirmed using a Holter electrocardiography test. However, the clinical symptoms significantly improved after implantation of a permanent pacemaker. Seven months after implantation, the dog died from acute pancreatitis, a cause unrelated to the syncope. Immediately after its death, the heart, lungs, gastrointestinal tract, and other organs were dissected and examined histopathologically. The brain was also examined using magnetic resonance imaging. Examination results led to the diagnosis of swallowing-induced situational syncope.

Giant experience allows us to perceive our body as if extended taller than usual. The concept is expected to be implemented with multi rotor based on telexistence theory. Previous papers have proposed the basic concept and gimbal design. So in this paper, we propose an immersion procedure to induce extending their height as a introducing part of the giant experience. The procedure design defines the theoretical requirement of the distance adjustment module in terms of maximum velocity and acceleration of two binocular cameras on the gimbal. Experimental result reveled that the requirement was satisfied.

A new typhlocybine species belonging to a new genus, Alebrasca actinidiae is described and illustrated, on the basis of the material collected from Odawara, Kanagawa Pref., central Honshu. The genus is defined by certain morphological characters of head, wing venation, ♂ genitalia, etc. It is notable that this leafhopper lives exclusively on Kiwi-fruit.

A mass was found at the base of the dorsum linguae of a male 11-year-old Labrador retriever. The tumor comprised of ganglion cells and Schwannian cells with Verocay bodies. The ganglion cells were positive for neuron-specific enolase, S-100, nerve growth factor receptor, and beta III tubulin. The Schwannian cells were positive for neuron-specific enolase, S-100, nerve growth factor receptor, and glial fibrillary acidic protein. The lingual mass was diagnosed as a ganglioneuroma. To our knowledge, there has been no previous report of a lingual ganglioneuroma in a dog.

An 8-year-old male Japanese Shiba exhibited muscle wasting and a stiff gait. A low-amplitude myotonic discharge was recorded by needle electromyography (EMG). A histopathological examination on a tru-cut biopsy sample from the muscle revealed myofiber size variations. Internal nuclei and cytoplasmic vacuoles were observed in many fibers. A type 1 fiber predominance and many hybrid type fibers were observed immunohistochemically. On the basis of these EMG and histopathological findings, myotonic dystrophy (DM) was suspected as tentative diagnosis. The cytoplasm around the vacuoles was immunopositive for cytochrome c, tom 20, and SOD-1, suggesting that these vacuoles might occur within mitochondria. Collectively, these results indicate that a mitochondrial abnormality partly play the role on the pathogenesis of present case.
