In this paper, we present the possibility of biological machining by bacteria as a new technique for metal removal. There are some kinds of chemolithotrophic bacteria which gain energy from inorganic matter and fix carbon dioxide of the air. Among them, there is a particular bacteria, Thiobacillus ferrooxidans, which "eats" metals. Machining of grooves on pure iron and pure copper by Thiobacillus ferrooxidans is experimentally investigated. The experimental analysis made it clear that biomachining was possible, since the depth of the groove generated on the workpiece increased approximately proportionally to the machining time. Furthermore, electric field assisted biomachining proved to be even more effective, because the removal rate became much higher under an electric field.

This article explores a desirable financial and monetary statistical system for the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) area that ensures smooth realization of the monetary union for which they have been preparing since the early stages of their community history. I will clarify the problems with the present statistical system and suggest a possible solution for improvement by comparison with the EU (European Union) which realized monetary union prior to the GCC. A well-harmonized regional statistical system which enables reliable comparison among the same economic indicators of member states is a most important prerequisite for effectively integrated monetary policy implementation by the regional central bank to be established along with the introduction of a common currency in the GCC. Nevertheless, there is actually great diversity in the current statistical data gathering, compilation and dissemination methods across member states, arising from their different social and economic backgrounds. Although member states are trying to standardize their statistical systems by adopting international statistical guidelines set by international organizations individually, little progress has been made so far. There should be, therefore, a strong initiative yielded by neutral regional institutions as seen in the EU where Eurostat, the statistics department of the European Commission and European Central Bank enact common statistical rules to be applied in member states. The point is that just introducing EU-type institutions would not work in the GCC area at this time, taking into account the fundamental differences between the EU and the GCC in such factors as member configuration, uniformity and readiness for unification. To devise the most suitable system for the GCC area is a pressing challenge.

本研究は,戦前の大津における都市計画街路と湖岸埋立及び遊覧施設計画の内容と策定意図,実現過程を明らかにし,これらを通じて近代大津の都市建設の理念,実現の手段と主体のはたらきを明らかにするものである.大津では明治末年以降,市会を中心に湖岸埋立・道路整備構想が数度立案され,昭和初期には琵琶湖の風致整備を基軸とした近代的「遊覧都市」の建設という理念が確立し,このもとに都市計画街路網・埋立計画や遊覧施設計画が策定された.これらの計画は名勝地の連絡による遊覧交通系統の充実と,遊覧施設や湖岸の風致の整備を意図したものであった.湖岸埋立と逍遙道路は公有地の売却益による事業収入をもとに戦前から戦後にかけて実現した.これは市,県の遊覧都市建設という理念の共有に基づいた長期にわたる協働的推進によるものであった.

ヤング(Young 訳書,2007)は,欧米におけるポスト工業化社会への変化が,同化と結合を基調とする「包摂型社会」から分離と排除を基調とする「排除型社会」への移行でもあったと指摘する。一方,敗戦後,米軍の占領期を経て厳格なエスニック・ネイションとして再出発した日本では多文化主義的な社会統合政策が取られたことはなく,そのような意味での「包摂型社会」になったことはないと言えよう。にもかかわらず,日本でも1990年代から徐々に始まっていたヤングのいう意味での「排除型社会」化の進行は見られる。つまり,「包摂型社会」を中途半端にしか経由せず,そのためそこでの同化主義への処方箋である多文化主義も経由せずに,にもかかわらず「バックラッシュ」が来ている,というかたちで,だ。<BR> 本稿ではこうした流れを,朝鮮学校の制度的位置づけ,処遇問題からあとづけていく。そこから見えてきたものは次の3 点であると言える。①仮に戦後の日本がヤングのいう意味での包摂型社会だったとしても,その基調は同化と結合ではなく,「排除/同化」――排除と同化の二者択一を迫るもの――であった。②2000年代には,このような「排除/同化」の基調を引き継ぎながら,にもかかわらず,「多文化主義へのバックラッシュ」としての排除を露骨化,先鋭化させた排除型社会になった。③そのような「排除/同化」,また2000年代以降の排除の露骨化,先鋭化において,朝鮮学校の処遇はつねにその先鞭,象徴だった。

近年の情報通信手段の発達によって、場所や組織の壁を越えた新たな個人間のコミュニケーションネットワークが形成されている。そのようなネットワークの1つとして本研究ではSNSに着目し、そのネットワーク構造上で生じる情報伝播の現象について実データを用いながら複雑ネットワーク分析と計算機シミュレーションによって分析する。さらに、理論的なネットワーク構造モデルとの比較によりSNSネットワークの特徴を明らかにする。

ソーシャルメディアは2011年3月11日に発生した東日本大震災時に,非常に有力なツールとして,情報の拡散や収集に用いられた.現在ソーシャルメディアを新たな情報源として確立するため,ソーシャルメディア内に構築される友人ネットワーク上での情報拡散を対象とした研究が数多く行われている.本研究では,友人ネットワークの構造に着目し,構造の違いが情報拡散に及ぼす影響を分析する.

2011年3月11日に発生した東日本大震災の際,携帯電話などの通信手段が途絶えた中で平常通り機能していたTwitterでは,災害情報や避難地情報などについての情報伝播が活発に行われた.本稿では,東日本大震災発生後のTwitterにおけるリツイートをベースとした情報伝播ネットワークを作成し,震災時のネットワークを分析することで,多くのユーザが関心をもち,より緊急性の高い話題の情報伝播の様子について分析する.そして,観光分野や災害時におけるTwitterでのリアルタイム情報発信の可能性について言及する.
