日本全国意識調査の結果、国民のうち、死刑制度を積極的に支持するのは約4割であった。犯罪と刑罰についての正確な知識があるほど、死刑存置派は減少した。ただし、先行研究同様、変化は小さい。他方、もし、無実の死刑囚がいる想定では、一旦死刑執行を停止するへの賛成が7割にのぼることが確認できた。しかし、死刑制度の廃止には抵抗が強い。以上より、日本人は、冤罪がないことを前提に刑罰について考えており、冤罪を無くして死刑制度は維持する意向と解釈できる。また、対立概念と考えられていた、応報と更生について、応報を強く願う人ほど、更生も強く願うという結果を得た。罰を与えた上で更生もしてほしいと解釈できる。

It is said that the nobility of the Republic of Venice was a caste, because the noble status was a hereditary privilege of certain families. A series of decrees issued in 1297-1323 defined its Serrata (closure), which continued until the middle of the 17th century, when noble status became purchasable, although at a very high price. However, if the nobility was inaccessible to the Venetian non-nobles, foreigners could obtain Venetian noble status. In fact a large number of foreigners, especially condottieri (mercenaries), were accepted into the Venetian nobility even under the Serrata system. In this article I examine some cases in which condottieri came to be ennobled. These were agents in wars to whom Venice turned in fighting against the Terraferma (mainland) powers such as the Scaligeri of Verona, the Carraresi of Padua and the Visconti of Milan, against the king of Hungary, and even in the wars against Turkey. Those appointed to the rank of Captain General of the Venetian army found it easy to be ennobled. It is not always easy to determine whether a condottiero obtained a hereditary status in the Venetian nobility instead of a personal one, but not a few condottieri did so. Moreover, some families kept a special relation with the Republic of Venice. The Malatesta of Rimini provided Venice with many able men of arms, and Venice in return protected them from their enemies. The Martinengo of Brescia also contributed military talent to Venice and weaved a matrimonial network with other condottieri families with Venetian noble status. Interestingly enough, we find a dozen condottieri members in the Compagnie della Calza, fete-organizing associations composed of young members of prominent noble families, which had much to do with the growing self-consciousness of the Venetian nobility in the late 15th and 16th centuries. The ennoblement of condottieri may have been, in the first place, a reward to military commanders. But it had another function; namely, to give more `nobleness' to the Venetian nobility who had non-feudal origin. Most of the condottieri were already nobles with feudal titles (duke, marquis, count, etc.), or at least semi-nobles with rule over a dominion. Thus they helped not only to conquer the Terraferma but also to establish a substantive definition of the Venetian nobility after the Serrata.

九州大学附属図書館では, 情報検索の結果からの一次資料や関連情報へのナビゲーションを目的として, 2005年4月からSerials Solutions社製リンクリゾルバArticle Linkerを導入し, 九州大学附属図書館学術情報リンクサービス「きゅうとLinQ」と名付けてサービスを開始した。本稿では, まずこれまでの本学での「きゅうとLinQ」への取り組みを通して, リンクリゾルバのしくみを説明する。そして学術ポータルには, 学術情報検索の入口としての機能の他に, 情報検索結果から一次資料や関連情報を適切にナビゲートする機能が必要であることを明らかにする。最後に, 今後の電子リソースマネジメントの方向性について考察する。Article Linker, an OpenURL link resolver made by Serials Solutions, was implemented to provide context-Sensitive linking at Kyushu University in April, 2005, and it was named "Cute LinQ", Kyushu University Library's Appropriate Link Resolution. First of all, this article will explain how "cute LinQ" works and how it functions well in recent situations of information retrieval. Then, it is clarified that academic portals are required to navigate to the appropriate copy from search results, in addition to the navigation into various kinds of information retrieval services. At the end, the future developments in electronic resources management will be considered.

2017年に連邦結成150周年を迎えるカナダは,英語とフランス語を公用語とする二言語国家として知られるが,その実態は複雑であり,必ずしも正確に理解されていない.そこで本稿では,言語景観と二言語話者人口に注目し,カナダの二言語主義の現状と課題を現地調査と国勢調査に基づいて解説する.カナダでは1969年に制定された公用語法により,連邦政府の施設は二言語で表記され,二言語でサービスを提供することになっている.一方で,各州の行政はそれぞれの法令に基づいている.したがって,同じ場所に立地していても,連邦と州の施設では用いられている言語が異なる場合がある.また,英語圏の大都市において二言語話者人口の割合が非都市地域よりもやや高い傾向がみられるものの,ケベック州をはじめとするフランス語を母語とする人口の割合が高い地域において,二言語話者人口の割合が高い傾向はあまり変わっていない.

本研究では,日常的に実物投影機とコンピュータが活用されている小学校の事例の分析を通じて,ICT活用に関する教員間コミュニケーションの特徴を明らかにすることを目的とする.教員へのインタビューの結果を元に,情報や助言を求める相手,求められる相手について,矢印を用いた「コミュニケーションフロー」として図示した.その結果,多くは,教職経験の短い教員から長い教員へ,また実物投影機やコンピュータの活用開始時期の遅い教員から早い教員へ情報を求める傾向があった.さらに,矢印が集中する2名の教員の存在が明らかになった.調査対象校では,ほぼ全ての教員が,この2名を中核とする全校的なコミュニケーションのネットワークに組み込まれており,教科指導におけるICT活用についてだけでなく実物投影機やコンピュータに関する技術的な内容についても情報や助言を得ることができる環境にあることが明らかになった.

日本のアニメなどは国内のみならず海外からも注目され、アニメキャラクターなどに扮するコスプレもまた、オタク趣味やハロウィンの一般化に伴って、若い世代を中心に普通の行為になってきている。発表者は、近年の参加者数が5 万人を超えるTOYAKO マンガ・アニメフェスタ(以下、TMAF)において、過去6 回にわたりアニメファンやコスプレイヤーに向けた観望会などの天文イベントを実施してきた。他方、アウトドア市場の中でも特にキャンプが好調という社会的背景も存在する。外岡は次のように報告している。2016 年の国内アウトドア市場規模は4,274 億3000 万円と推計されることが、矢野経済研究所の調査より明らかになった。キャンプやハイキング、釣りなど自然環境と関わる「ライトアウトドア分野」が市場全体の半分以上を占めている。(中略)キャンプは、メディア露出の増加やキャンプ場設備の整備、用品の改良などによりハードルが低下し、若年層からファミリー、シニア層まで幅広い世代で関心が高まっている。加えて、天体観望はキャンプにおけるアクティビティとして人気がある。このような社会的背景から、発表者は2018 年のTMAF において、キャンプ気分を味わいながら天体観望などができる天文イベントを実施することにした。本発表では、この天文イベントについて報告する。

In this study, we used the thermal stress index (THI) to clarify the relationship between temperature and utilization rate (length of stay) in domestic female Japanese Saanen hybrid goats (Capra aegagrus hircus), assessing changes across three temperature ranges: high temperature, optimal temperature, and low temperature. We also analyzed the effects of meteorological changes on utilization. We found that, under high temperatures, the indoor utilization rate was 61.8% and that animals spent more time indoors than outdoors, despite higher heat stress indoors. Based on this result, we performed a correlation analysis between meteorological factors and utilization rate, but no significant relationship between solar radiation or wind speed and utilization rate was found in the high-temperature environment. It was concluded that the reason for the high indoor utilization rate is that the outdoor foraging behavior decreased and the resting behavior increased because the heat production and physical fitness consumption by the ruminant were suppressed.
