Fifty-five years after discovery of x-rays by Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen in 1895, International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) established a committee on permission internal exposure. Natural and man-made radionuclides can enter human body, cause damage effect and lead to health risk; on the other hand, radionuclides can cure cancers and other non-cancer diseases by irradiating the malignant cells and tissues. The radiation doses delivered to the tissues and organs are inevitable to assess risk or to judge the benefit of application of radiation on humans. In this article, basic methodology for dose assessment of internally deposited radionuclides is reviewed. After brief introduction of interactions and effects of radiation, the biokinetic models developed by ICRP for incorporation of radionuclides in humans are described. Then, the dosimetric formula generalized by ICRP and Committee on Medical Internal Radiation Dose (MIRD) is presented. Treatment of decay products and uncertainty analysis in internal dosimetry are especially addressed. Moreover, applications of internal dosimetry in radiation protection, internal exposure monitoring, radon inhalation dosimetry and nuclear medicine are presented with several calculation examples. At last, the future perspective of internal dosimetry is discussed. In an appendix basic internal dosimetric quantities are provided.

絶対音感の発達には臨界期が存在し, 6歳を超えると絶対音感習得が困難であることが指摘されている。加齢にともなう変化が絶対音感の習得可能性を減じていると考えられるが, 本研究では年齢の異なる幼児(2歳児4名, 5歳児4名)に対し, 同一の和音判別訓練法による絶対音感習得訓練を実践して彼らの絶対音感習得過程を縦断的に明らかにし, 年齢によって習得過程の様相も異なるのか調べることで, 加齢にともなう変化を検討した。音高という属性に「ハイト」と「クロマ」の2次元があるという考えに従えば, 絶対音感とはクロマの特定能力であり, その習得とはクロマの参照枠形成とみなせる。訓練課題のエラーから聴取傾向を記述すると, 習得過程中, 年少児は早い段階でクロマに着目し, 全体的にクロマ次元を重視した聴取傾向を示したのに対し, 年長児はクロマ次元の利用が少なく, 一貫してハイト次元に依存した聴取傾向を強く示した。加齢にともなう変化として, クロマ次元に依存する傾向が減じ, 逆にハイト次元に依存する傾向が増すという変化が示唆され, クロマの参照枠形成である絶対音感習得が, 加齢により不利になる様が示された。

オーディオ信号の広帯域化による可聴域の音質変化について調べるため, 周波数帯域が48kHzと24kHzの検査音を作製し, それぞれの再生時に可聴帯域内に生じるスピーカの非線形歪を観測した。8種類のスピーカについて調べた結果, スピーカの定格周波数範囲の広さに関係なく, ほとんどのスピーカで, 信号の周波数帯域の拡張が可聴帯域内の非線形歪率を増加させることが示された。非線形歪率の変化は, 特にパルス性の検査音の場合に顕著であった。結果から, オーディオ信号の周波数帯域を不必要に拡張することが, 可聴域の音質劣化を招くことが示唆された。

The present study tried to make a Japanese self-handicapping scale and examined the scale to measure the individual differences in self-handicapping behavior. Subjects were 428 university students. In Study 1, the self-handicapping scale (Jones et al., 1986) was translated into Japanese. The self-handicapping scale was analyzed, its items and structure were checked for reliability, and so on. As a result "SH23" that consists of 23 items was made "SH23" was negatively correlated with self-esteem scales as predicted. In Study 2, the predictive validity was confirmed. Also two factors that are the "can't" factor and the "wouldn't" factor which were extracted in Study 1 were contributed independently to predict self-handicapping behaviors.

In the collection of the Tenri Sank&ocirc;kan Museum, there is a long gold fitted sword (Photo I) and a set of gold fitted decorations for a smaller sword (Photo II).<br>The sword of this type has begun brought in sight recently from Northern Persia, but few in number. The three specimens which Prof. R. Ghirshman introduced in <i>the Artibus Aside</i> Vol. XXVI, 1963) and the beautiful one in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York are especially famous.<br>The handle and scabbard of these swords have distinctive features as follows; (1) the handle has projections for tight holding, (2) no guard or, if there is, very small, (3) there are two wide bands to reinforce the scabbard, one of the two is fitted at the mouth of the scabbard, (4) each band has a golden fish-shaped knot for suspension, (5) the width of the scabbard is neary the same from the tip to the end, (6) the side views of the tip of the handle and the end of the scabbard are the same &ldquo;{&rdquo; shape, (7) the basic pattern of the decoration is somewhat like squamation.<br>The sword of this type is sometimes found on silver dishes in the period from the later half of Sasanian Dynasty to the early Islamic Age in Persia. It was drawn on the wall painting in the districts along the Silk Road. Also it is reported that there have been found many stone-statues which have the sword of this type in Altai, Mongolia and Western China. However, they are all newer than some of the Persian silver dishes. So I presume that this type of sword might have been completed in Northern Persia and its surroundings during the later Sasanian Dynasty.<br>In Japan, the same sort of sword has been used si nce the 8th century. Among them, the most famous sword is the one of the Sh&ocirc;s&ocirc;in Treasures. This sword has the same distinctive features as the above mentioned except in items (5) and (7). Even now, in Japan, a sword of this type is frequently used for ritual purpose. They are brilliant souvenirs showing the introduction of Persian civilization to our country. In addition, I would like to state that it is wrong to support the opinion that the pattern of squamation of the sword expresses the feathers of holy birds.<br>It is clear that in Western Asia, there has long been a tradition to depict bush or trees by swarms of little arcs. And later this method of describing plants seems to be combined with the method of drawing the gathering of parmette. With this assumption, I presume that these patterns of squamation on these swords have similar characteristics as of the fringe of the arch of Taller Grotto, Taq-i-Bustan and so on. This pattern of decoration was transmitted to European countries and, because of its nobleness, was to be used as the decoration of the arches of church entrance and the edgings of church windows etc., I presume.

The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) launched a next-generation geostationary meteorological satellite (GMS), Himawari-8, on October 7, 2014 and began its operation on July 7, 2015. The Advanced Himawari Imager (AHI) onboard Himawari-8 has 16 observational bands that enable the retrieval of full-disk maps of aerosol optical properties (AOPs), including aerosol optical thickness (AOT) and the Ångström exponent (AE) with unprecedented spatial and temporal resolution. In this study, we combined an aerosol transport model with the Himawari-8 AOT using the data assimilation method, and performed aerosol assimilation and forecasting experiments on smoke from an intensive wildfire that occurred over Siberia between May 15 and 18, 2016. To effectively utilize the high observational frequency of Himawari-8, we assimilated 1-h merged AOTs generated through the combination of six AOT snapshots taken over 10-min intervals, three times per day. The heavy smoke originating from the wildfire was transported eastward behind a low-pressure trough, and covered northern Japan from May 19 to 20. The southern part of the smoke plume then traveled westward, in a clockwise flow associated with high pressure. The forecast without assimilation reproduced the transport of the smoke to northern Japan; however, it underestimated AOT and the extinction coefficient compared with observed values, mainly due to errors in the emission inventory. Data assimilation with the Himawari-8 AOT compensated for the underestimation and successfully forecasted the unique C-shaped distribution of the smoke. In particular, the assimilation of the Himawari-8 AOT during May 18 greatly improved the forecast of the southern part of the smoke flow. Our results indicate that the inheritance of assimilation cycles and the assimilation of more recent observations led to better forecasting in this case of a continental smoke outflow.

完全流体の運動の変分原理を、ゲージ理論にもとづいて構成する。流体運動に対して、ガリレイ変換不変のラグランジュ関数を定義し、並進対称性および回転対称性に対してgauge principleを適用して、より完全な形の variational formulation を構成する。ハミルトンの原理から、(圧縮性の)オイラーの運動方程式が導かれる。キーポイントは、ラグランジュ微分とゲージ原理との関係である。このformulation から、各対称性に対するネーサーの定理として、運動量保存則、角運動量保存則が導かれる。また、粒子置換不変性から、渦度方程式、循環定理等も導かれる。この formulation が物理的に首尾一貫した変分原理となっていることを報告する。
