イヴ・コゾフスキィ・セジウィック教授は、現在ニューヨーク市立大学の教授であり、クイア理論およびセクシュアリティの研究の世界的な第一人者である。またセクシュアリティのみならず、大きくフェミニズムの領域においても、学問研究に留まらず、運動の面でも大きな影響を与えている。著書は多数あるが、Between Men (1985)では「ホモソーシャルな欲望」という概念を提示し、Epistemology of the Closet (1990)[外岡尚美訳『クローゼットの認識論』青土社、1999]では、クローゼットの可視性/不可視性のパラドックスを鋭く突いた。彼女の独創性のひとつは、女や非=異性愛の位置ではなく、異性愛の男の位置を分析することによって、性の言説に切り込んだことである。著書は他にTendencies (1993)、Fat Art, Thin Art (1994)などがある。本講演は2000年10月7 日に本学の言語文化学科英語圏コースと共催して、セジウィック教授を招聘した折の公開講演会のものである。講演会では最新作A Dialogue on Love (1999)の朗読も行われた。なお、本稿は竹村和子(本学助教授)、大橋洋一(東京大学教授)により翻訳されて『現代思想』2000年12月号(青土社)に掲載されている。

The Research Committee of Disorders of Adrenal Hormones, Japan, undertook a nationwide epidemiological study of primary aldosteronism (PA). The present study was undertaken as a part of this study to reveal the relationship between type of treatment and the prognosis of PA. In the primary survey, 4161 patients with PA during the period January 1, 2003-December 31, 2007 were reported from 3252 departments of internal medicine, pediatrics and urology. In the secondary survey, a questionnaire that requested detailed clinical information on individual patients was sent to those departments reporting patients in the primary survey. In total, data on 1706 patients with PA were available in the present study. Among patients with bilateral or unilateral aldosterone-producing adenoma, after adjustment for age at which prognosis was examined, sex, surgical treatment and medical treatment, surgical treatment was significantly associated with amelioration of hypertension (adjusted odds ratio [OR]: 0.47 [95% confidence interval (CI): 0.29–0.77]) and hypokalemia (adjusted OR: 0.17 [95% CI: 0.11–0.29]). No significant relationship was observed between medical treatment and such prognosis in this group of patients. Among patients with bilateral or unilateral adrenal hyperplasia, surgical, but not medical, treatment was significantly associated with amelioration of hypokalemia (adjusted OR: 0.23 [95% CI: 0.06–0.74]), while there was no relationship between surgical or medical treatment and the prognosis of hypertension. In conclusion, surgery offered a better prognosis of PA than medication with regards to hypertension and hypokalemia, with the limitation that a new anti-aldosterone drug, eplerenone, was not available during the study period.

北海道東部産のエゾシカ胎子87例で胎齢を推定し, 受胎日の変異と外部形態の発達過程とを明らかにした. 胎子の体重(W)と胎齢(T)との間には, T=(√^3<W>+2.730)/0.091関係式が認められた. この式を用いて胎齢を算出し, 捕殺日からの逆算により求められた推定受胎日は, 10月7日から翌1月17日の範囲で変異していた. しかし, その多くは10月中旬から11月上旬にかけて集中していた. また, 11月下旬以降に受胎したと思われる胎子9例のうち, 6例が1歳メスから採取された標本であった. これは, 北海道東部個体群の良好な栄養状態が, 1歳メスの成長と性成熟を冬期間にも可能にすることを示唆している. 胎子の外部形態においては, 感覚毛や一般被毛の発現時期と白斑の発現時期とが重複していなかった. また, いくつかの発達過程上の変化が, 特定の体重で起こることも確認された. これらの特性を利用することにより, 胎子成長は4段階のステージに分割できた. 各ステージにおける胎子の外部形態的特徴は, エゾシカ以外のニホンジカでも簡便な胎齢推定に役立つと考えられる.

Rosemary, plantago, and tea tree oil have been customarily used for the treatment of the common cold, but the detailed mechanisms of these antitussive effects are not well known. Thus, the aim of this study was to assess the antitussive properties of these herbs using a capsaicin-induced cough model in guinea pigs. Rosemary (10, 30μL/kg, <i>p.o.</i>), plantago (10, 30mg/kg, <i>p.o.</i>), and tea tree oil (10, 30μL/kg, <i>p.o.</i>) produced dose-dependent and significant antitussive effects. Methysergide (a serotonin receptor antagonist), but not naloxone (a opioid receptor antagonist), antagonize the antitussive effects of plantago and tea tree oil. On the other hand, neither methysergid nor naloxone had a significant effect on the antitussive effect of rosemary. Furthermore, γ-terpinene, terpinene-4-ol, cineole, and α-pinene, main components of tea tree oil and rosemary, significantly inhibited the number of capsaicin-induced coughs in guinea pigs. These results suggest that the antitussive effects of plantago and tea tree oil may depend on central mechanisms (modulation of serotonergic systems). On the other hand, the antitussive effects of rosemary may depend on peripheral mechanisms. Furthermore, it is suggested that γ-terpinene, terpinene-4-ol, cineole, and α-pinene may play an important role in the antitussive effects of tea tree oil and rosemary.

ディドロの『絵画論断章』は、美学の領域におけるディドロの最後期の著作の一つである。本研究において、我々は、この『絵画論断章』のテクストのうちの第46断章から第50断章までを日本において初めて日本語に翻訳し、それらについて美学的、文献学的、歴史的な注釈を加えることにしたい。注釈にあたっては、今日までに刊行されている全ての『絵画論断章』の現代的校訂本を照合するだけではなく、フランス国立図書館に保管されている『絵画論断章』の手書き筆写原稿をも照合し、更に、ハーゲドルンやその他の著作家の著作並びに18世紀の代表的フランス語辞書である『トレヴー辞典』などをも参照する。我々の研究において論じられるのは、以下の主題である。断章46:美、快、怪物断章47:美と恐怖断章48:オウィディウスとホメーロス断章49:詩と絵画断章50:オウィディウスの『転身物語』の主題ディドロ美学は、通常一般に思われているのとは反対に、極めて一貫した、肯定的・建設的な美学である。

多読用英語リーダーに対する学生の主観的難易度を登録すると、ラッシュ分析により学生の能力とリーダーの難易度が比較できるシステムを開発した。300冊のデータを検証した結果、難易度への影響は本文の長さが一番大きく、次にセンテンスの長さであった。語彙レベルの影響は小さかった。他のシステムとの比較では、「読みやすさレベル」が本研究による難易度評価に最も近く、次いでLexile Levelであり、Graded Reader Scaleとの相関は低かった。本システムは無料でダウンロードが可能であり、ERFと協力し、Graded Reader Scaleの改善に貢献した.

The high-rise and high-density condominium reconstructions initiated by developer had lots of bad influences to urban environment in Korea. Recently, to restrict the high-rise and high-density condominium reconstructions, legal regulations are being strengthened. As a result, condominium reconstruction is facing the decreasing of feasibility and the difficulties of developer' s positive participation. Therefore, there will be needed the owners-initiated reconstruction activities. As a first phase of whole study, in this paper, we aimed to clarify the process of consensus building on the owners-initiated condominium reconstruction by case study. The main conclusions are as follows." l) The owners-initiated reconstruction was realized by the efforts to solution the oppositional views among the parties concerned. 2) The promote organization with high decision making ability showed strong readership to the other parties concerned. 3) The relationship of mutual trust between promote organization and the other owners was established. 4) The partnership between promote organization and professionals or developer was established.
