LIVE!UNIVERSEでは2002年6月より世界各地で観測される金環日食や皆既日食のインターネット中継を行ってきた。2005年4月9日に観測された金環・皆既日食のインターネット中継(LE2005)に引き続き、2005年10月3日に観測された金環日食の中継(LE2005a)においても日本語JPドメイン名Webによるアクセス評価の実験を行った。その結果、4月に引き続き全Webアクセスの約10%が日本語JPドメイン名Webへのアクセスであった。また、前回明らかにできなかったIEユーザにおけるJWordプラグイン導入の割合はi-Navの導入と同程度あり、日本語JPドメイン名URLへのアクセスに大きく寄与していることが明らかとなった。LIVE! UNIVERSE has webcasted annular eclipses and total solar eclipses observed all over the world to the Internet users from June 2002. Following the LE2005 experiment during the eclipse on April 9, 2005, we again conducted an LE2005a experiment of Web accesses with a Japanese JP domain name in webcasting the annular eclipse observed on October 3, 2005. The result showed about 10% of the Web accesses were through Japanese JP domain names, which was a similar result to the LE2005 cue. And the effect of JWord was shown to be significant among all the accesses through a Japanese JP domain name from IE, since half of the accesses were made from IE with JWord and the other half were from IE with i-Nav.

On July 11th, 1991, from the summit of Mt. Mauna Kea, NHK, using three HDTV cameras, successfully filmed one of the longest total solar eclipses of this century. This was the first attempt in the world to film a total solar eclipse using HDTV cameras. This of course involved difficulties in preparing the equipment and materials and in filming the object.

In order to investigate the relation between foot sizes and leather shoes sizes, the foot lengths and ball-joint girths of right and left feet in Japanese adults(149 males and 178 females)were measured. Their proper shoes sizes were assigned to JIS Standard from the measurement values. The similarity between proper size and self-styleed size of leather shoes in each subject was investigated concerned with three grades of favorite fitted feeling of the foot to shoes: "tight," "fit" and "loose." The most frequent self-styled sizes were 25.0(cm) EEE in males and 23.0(cm) EE in females in JIS Standard. The 38% in males and 59% in females recognized their self-styled sizes of their foot lengths, but without the recognition of their ball-joint girths. As the grade of fitted feeling shifted from "tight" to "loose," the difference between proper size and self-styled size of the foot length became bigger in males, but the tendency was not clear in females.

注腸・内視鏡同日併用法の大腸早期癌診断における有用性の検討,その診断能向上のための検査前日食改善を目的に,同法を施行した94例の診断能,従来のBrown変法に準じた献立食とレトルト食(サンケンクリン)とのX線画像の質,内視鏡時の残渣の程度,被検者への味のアンケートを分析した。発見大腸腫瘍は癌5例(早期癌2例,進行癌3例),ポリープ26例32病変である。早期癌はともにポリープの形態をとり,注腸,内視鏡とも病変を指摘できた。病変の好発部位である直腸・S状結腸で注腸・内視鏡によるダブルチェックができる。前日食の検討ではレトルト食が従来の献立食と比し,注腸・内視鏡ともに優れた腸内洗浄能を有し,味のアンケートからも劣ることはなかった。大腸癌早期発見の2次スクリーニングとして,レトルト食を前日食とする同法の有用性が示された。The present study was performed (1) to evaluate the validity of co-examination by sigmoidoscopy and barium enema study for the early diagnosis of colon cancer and (2) to find the most suitable preparation method for the co-examination. The co-examination was performed on 94 patients : those with abdominal symptoms and signs suggestive of colonic diseases : those with positive occult blood test in stool : or those asking for the routine examination of the colon. The examination revealed 5 cases of colon cancer (2 with early cancer and 3 with advanced cancer) and 26 eases (32 lesions) with colon polyp. The high detection rate of colonic neoplasms, especially of minute lesions, along with the high rate of early lesions among cancers suggested the validity of the co-examination method for the early diagnosis of colon cancer. The method was not time-consuming and not demanding for both patients and doctors, but was effective in detecting minute lesions by allowing a doublecheck in the high-risk recto-sigmpid region ; in addition, the upper colon could be examined by X-ray. The comparative studies on the currently popular Preparation method (modified Brown's method) and a new method with retort foods (Sankenclean, Sanwa Kagaku Kenkyusho Co., Ltd) revealed that the latter was significantly more effective in cleaning colon lumen and visualizing fine network pattern of the colonic mucosa. In addition, the patients were more satisfied with the taste of the latter.

Eutrophication proceeds in many lakes, marshes and ponds with an unusual growth of algae so that it became a serious problem in especially urban areas. Though many approaches were made to improve the eutrophicati on in the past, e.g., oxidation treatments represented by ultraviolet radiation and ozonation showed rather high effect to reduce algae. Also, an electric disinfection treatment represented by use of electrolysis to produce strongly acidic water is attracting more attention than before, because of strongly acidic and to produce a free chlorine.<br>The authors performed an experimental study focusing on the electrolytic oxidation treatment of algae in lake and marsh water, to examine its effect on the disinfection of algae using a batch- and circulation-type apparatus of laboratory scale.<br>As for the electrolytic oxidation treatment, it showed a great effect on the disinfection of algae. It was found also that there was a correlation between the effect and the quantity of electricity. It was found, further more, that a free chlorine produced by the electrolytic oxidation enhanced the disinfection of algae. On a continuous electrolytic oxidation treatment, the electrolytic cell used for the experiment made more than 24s · A in contact reaction time necessary.

本稿では,2009年7月22日に起こった皆既日食の全天映像を,非圧縮4K超高精細のまま朝日放送からインターネットを用いて奈良先端科学技術大学院大学まで伝送するという,世界最初のライブ中継伝送実験について述べる.この4K映像の中継伝送実験と同時に非圧縮ハイビジョン映像の中継伝送実験も行ったため,映像伝送に使用したネットワーク帯域は8Gbpsにも達した.大学のプライマリネットワークの帯域は10Gbpsであるが,大学の一般トラフィックを犠牲にすることなく,中継伝送実験は無事に成功した.

皆既日食は古代の人々にとってはまさに天変地異であった.しかし,従来のTVやインターネットで放映されている日食の映像は太陽にフォーカスされており,その劇的な変化の一部しか表現出来ていない.そこで,我々は4Kの超高精細映像システムを使ってドームスクリーン上に日食を再現することに挑戦した.本報告では,我々のシステムとそれを使った実験の教育効果について紹介する.
