Exploring brands that customers are likely to purchase jointly has a profound effect on marketing. This study proposes a new way to measure, or estimate the similarity between brands using social media. The proposed algorithm analyzes the daily photos and hashtags posted by each brand's followers. By clustering them and converting them into histogram-based features, we can calculate the similarity between brands. We evaluate our proposed algorithm by comparing it with the purchase logs of point/credit card companies, and answers to the questionnaires. The results show that purchase logs can predict the co-purchase behaviors in the questionnaires very well, but cannot predict customers' potential interest or willingness to buy products from new brands. On the other hand, our method can predict the users’ interest in brands with a correlation coefficient of over 0.53, which is high considering that such interest in brands is highly subjective and individual dependent.

Lycopene has aroused public interest owing to its role in preventing oxidative damage, cancer and aging, etc. These activities are considered to be due to its high ability of scavenging active oxygen species. In the present work, we have examined the products formed by the photosensitized oxygenation, hydrogen peroxide oxidation, m-chloroperbenzoic acid (mCPBA) oxidation and peroxinitrite oxidation of lycopene. We also isolated two oxygenated lycopenes with a novel five-membered ring end-group from tomato puree. In photosensitized oxygenation (singlet oxygen oxidation), we isolated apo-6'-lycopenal and 6-methyl-5-hepten-2-one. The reaction is supposed to proceed via 1,2 addition of singlet oxygen to 5,6 double bond of lycopene. In hydrogen peroxide and m CPBA oxidation, we isolated oxygenated lycopenes with a novel five-membered ring end-group (2,6-cyclolycopene-1,5-diol, 2,6-cyclolycopene-1,5-epoxide, 1,16-didehydro-2,6-cyclolycopene-5-ol and 1-methoxy-2,6-cyclolycopene-5-ol). It is proposed that the formation for these compounds occurs by rearrangement of lycopene 5,6-epoxide. In peroxinirite oxidation, we could classify the products into three types, 1) oxidative cleavage products, 2) non-cleavage oxidative products that have C40 carbon skeleton, and 3) Z-isomers of lycopene. The reaction pathways to form these compounds will be discussed.

野球の投手が投げる球種の中に,大リーグ・ボストンレッドソックスのTim Wakefield投手が投球する事で有名なナックルボールがある.これまで,本研究室で行われてきたナックルボールの研究で,Wakefield投手が投球するナックルボールは1[rps]以下のゆっくりとしたサイドスピンをしている事が確認されている.しかし,近年のWakefield投手が投球するナックルボールは,ジャイロ回転をする新型のナックルボールである事が確認された.本研究では,先ず理論によるフラッタ方程式を導き,その後,フラッタ実験を行う事で,方程式が成立する事を証明する.その結果から,新型ナックルボールのメカニズムの解明を試みる.

ヒトにおける薬物動態予測は医薬品開発にとって非常に重要である.種々の予測法がある中,in vitro試験からの予測法は,動物種差を考慮せず,理論に基づく予測が可能であるため,様々な手法について,近年盛んに研究・報告されている.特に肝ミクロゾームや肝細胞などをもちいた代謝クリアランスの予測や薬物間相互作用の予測は,近年の低分子医薬品開発にとって非常に影響が大きい.それらを中心に,種々のin vitro試験からのヒト体内動態予測法について概説する.

出血発症の椎骨動脈解離(vertebral artery dissection: VAD)において,前脊髄動脈(anterior spinal artery: ASA)が解離側VA から2 本分岐しY 字型にfusion している症例を経験したので報告する.症例は43 歳男性.くも膜下出血(subarachnoid hemorrhage: SAH)で発症した破裂VAD で,解離部から1本,解離部より末梢の正常部位から1 本ASA が分岐し,fusion 後に下行していた.マイクロカテーテルを3 本使用しASA を温存しVAD のinternal trapping を行った.片側VA から2 本のASA が分岐しfusion するタイプの血管走行は今まで報告がなく本症例が初めてである.ASA の起始部にはvariationがあり,VA union 近くの塞栓術では脳幹への穿通枝とともにASA 分岐の詳細な観察が必要である.
