2'-and 3'-O-(o-Nitrobenzyl) derivatives of uridine, cytidine, adenosine and guanosine were synthesized by treatment of uridine, N-benzoylcytidine, N-benzoyladenosine and N-isobutyrylguanosine, respectively, with o-nitrophenyldiazomethane followed by isolation and deblocking. 3'-O-(o-Nitrobenzyl) guanosine is a novel compound. By using N-acylated nucleosides, separation of the 2'-and 3'-substituted isomers on silica gel became feasible and these compounds were useful intermediates for the synthesis of oligoribonucleotides. Some physical properties of these compounds were studied by ultraviolet, nuclear magnetic resonance, circular dichroism and the 2'-substituted isomers were found to have more stacked structures than the 3'-isomers.

Previously 2'-O-(o-nitrobenzyl) uridine was synthesized via 2', 3'-O-(stannylene) uridine and used in the synthesis of UpA and UpU. 2'-O-(o-Nitrobenzyl) derivatives of cytidine and adenosine were synthesized with o-nitrobenzyl bromide in the presence of sodium hydride. 3'-O-(o-Nitrobenzyl) cytidine was also isolated. Using these 2'-protected nucleosides, partially protected trinucleoside diphosphates, CpA (o-nitrobenzyl)-pA and CpCpA (o-nitrobenzyl) were synthesized using a diester method or a triester method. These oligomers are candidates as suitable substrates of ribonucleic acid (RNA) ligase. Removal of the o-nitrobenzyl group was effected by irradiation with ultraviolet spectrum (UV) light (wavelength longer than 280 nm) and the completely deblocked oligonucleotides were characterized by enzymatic hydrolysis.

北海道の渡島半島にある七飯町の休耕田において,1990年から2014年までの間に,標識調査で捕獲された鳥類について報告する.この期間中に,のべ 37,868羽,108種が放鳥された.放鳥数が多かった鳥類種は,上位から,オオジュリン,カシラダカ,アオジ,ツバメであった.本調査地の特徴として,秋季のカシラダカ放鳥数が多いことと,オオジュリンの回収にかかわる記録が多いことが挙げられる.カシラダカは,七飯町を含む渡島半島で秋季には多く見られることから,音声誘引と地形的要因が集中を強化したものと思われる.オオジュリンは,秋季・春季ともに当地で数多く捕獲され,181個体が当地で放鳥され他地域で回収された,359個体が他地域で放鳥され当地で回収された.本調査地を通過するオオジュリンを地図上に可視化させると,初放鳥または再捕獲地点は日本海側・太平洋側を問わず日本全国(一部国外も含む)に及んでいた.七飯町は,日本のオオジュリンにとって,重要な渡りの中継地のひとつとなっていると考えられる.ツバメとショウドウツバメは当地を夏のねぐらとして利用していた.

大人のチンパンジーの脳容量はヒトの3分の1に達しないが、300万年前の人類とほぼ同じサイズである。また、脳形態とその基本構造もチンパンジーとヒトで良く似ている。そこでチンパンジー脳の発達変化をMRI計測し検討した。[方法] 霊長類研究所において2000年に出生したアユム、クレオ、パルの3頭と2003年に出生したピコ、計4頭のチンパンジーを用いた。測定装置はGE製 Profile 0.2Tを用い、3Dグラディエントエコー法で計測した。データ解析にはDr_View(旭化成情報システム製)を用いた。[結果] (1)脳容量の増加は生後1年以内に急速に進行し、その後増加のスピードは鈍化した。(2)大脳を前頭葉、頭頂葉、側頭葉、後頭葉に分けて容量変化を見ると前頭葉の増加が最も著明であった。(3)MRIで高輝度の領域の大脳全体に占める比率は年齢とともにゆっくりと増加した。[考察] チンパンジーとヒトの大人の脳容量の差を用いてチンパンジーのデータを補正して比較すると、5歳までのチンパンジーの脳容量の増加曲線、高輝度領域に相当すると考えられる白質の増加曲線は、ヒトと良く似ていた。今回の計測結果はチンパンジーの大脳における髄鞘形成がゆっくりと進行することを示しており、大脳のゆっくりとした発達はチンパンジーの高次脳機能の発達に対応するものと考えられる。

本論文では, 一方向代替可能な二品目在庫管理で生じる諸費用の総和を最小にするための最適資源配分問題を取り扱う. つまり, 一ヶ所で生産された二品目をmヶ所の地域に配分するとき, 各地域の在庫管理で生じる諸費用の総計となる総期待在庫費用が最小になるようにするためには, どのように配分すればよいかという問題である. 但し, 各地域の需要の密度関数は指数分布で表現されていると仮定する. また, ここでの在庫問題は新聞売り子問題と呼ばれるタイプの問題を利用する. さらに, 我々は本論文で提案した在庫問題を具体的に説明するために数値例を示す.

症例は85歳, 女性.2002年6月より口渇・嘔吐が出現, 7月に466mg/dlの高血糖が判明し入院となった.病歴と検査所見から1型糖尿病の急性発症と診断した.検索し得た限り, 本例の1型糖尿病発症年齢 (85歳) は本邦で3番目の高齢である.1997年以降の糖尿病学会誌収載地方会報告等から検索し得た後期高齢 (75歳以上) 発症1型糖尿病22例の検討から次の点が判明した.(1) 圧倒的に女性が多い.(2) 発症様式から急性発症型と緩徐発症型に分かれる.(3) 急性発症型の最高齢は88歳で本例は2番目の高齢である.緩徐発症型の最高齢は92歳である.(4) 抗GAD抗体は急性発症型では陰性ないし低抗体価, 緩徐発症型では高抗体価で, 他の自己免疫疾患併発例が多い.(5) 1型糖尿病発症と関連するとされるHLAのA24, DR4, DR9は両群に認められた.本例には, 最近小児発症1型糖尿病との関係が報告されたDPB1*0201遺伝子が認められたが, 高齢発症との関連は今後の検討課題である.

下部直腸・肛門管癌に対する括約筋間直腸切除術(ISR)に関しては,術後排便機能障害として便失禁が比較的高率であることが課題となっている.そこで,当施設において2001~2013年に下部直腸・肛門管癌に対してISR, partial ESRを施行した治癒切除178例を対象に,術後1年の排便機能について解析した.術後1年における排便機能に関しては,continent patients(Kirwan grade 1, 2)が64.9%であり,total ISR とpartial ESR症例では低い傾向であった.直腸肛門内圧検査と直腸肛門感覚検査を継時的(術前・術後3ヵ月・6ヵ月・1年)に施行し,肛門管最大静止圧,肛門管最大随意圧ならびに肛門管電流感覚閾値に術後3ヵ月に著明な悪化がみられ,その後の回復が比較的不良であった.これらの解析を基に,ISR術後の排便機能障害に対する対応について検討した.

Ohwaraitake is Japanese name of a poisonous mushroom Gymnopilus spectabilis and means "a loud laugh mushroom". Accidental ingestion of it causes hallucinosis and abnormal behavior. A hallucinogenic mushroom contains usually psilocybin or its analogues but it is reported that any psilocybin or its congenor does not found in Japanese Ohwaraitake. The toxic symptoms suggest that any neuroexcitatory substance must be contained. The isolation was carried out monitoring depolarizing activity on the new born rat spinal cord. 1. Chromatographical fractionation and bisassay showed that the neuroexcitatory active compounds were gimnopilins (G) which were known as bitter principles of this fungus. Further fractionation revealed that G (1) was inactive and activities of G (2) increased from n=7 to n=5 and besides, G (2), which was newly isolated this time, was more active than G (2). 2. The structure of the new G was determined by the chemical degradation as formula 3. 3. The Chirality of hydroxymethylglutamic acid (HMGA) part was determined as S configuration by the acquisition of (R)-mevalonaloctone through LiBH4 reduction or G (1 and 2). 4. G (2) does not work as an ion carrier probably, since it does not particularly take metal ion from aqueous solution into an organic solvent. 5. Determination of the chirality of tert-alcohols in gymnoprenol (G'), that is, G without HMGA part, was attempted. Eight isomers of the model compounds corresponding to G' (m=2, n=4) were synthesized and were not discriminated by HPLC and NMR. Since two diastereoisomers of MTP-ethoxy-methoxy derivatives of G' (m=1, n=2) were distinguished by ^1H and ^<19>FNMR, these derivatives may be applicable to identification of the synthetic and the natural G'.

食べた物を吐き戻し,その吐しゃ物を再び食べるという吐き戻し行動は飼育下のゴリラでよく見られる異常行動の一種である。京都市動物園に飼育されているニシゴリラ1個体(ゲンキ,女,観察開始時22歳)も,幼時から常習的に給餌後の吐き戻し行動が見られていた。 本研究では,屋内での夕食給餌時に見られた吐き戻し行動を観察,記録し,吐き戻しの様態を分析した。観察は屋内居室に入ってからの45分間おこない,この間に起こった吐き戻しについて入室してからの経過時間を記録した。30日間分の記録を分析した結果,1日あたりの平均吐き戻し回数は23回であり,観察時間の間中,約1分間隔で吐き戻してはその吐しゃ物を食べるという行動を繰り返した。 吐き戻しの過程を観察したところ,やわらかく水分の多い果物や葉もの野菜などを一気に食べては吐き戻す一方で,水分の少ないイモやカシの葉を食べると吐こうとして失敗する場合が見られた。一度吐いた後は吐しゃ物を再び食べてはまた吐くという行為を繰り返した。対策として給餌品目の変更を試みた。 水分が多く,量も多かった白菜を草食獣用の青草やクローバーに変更して与えたところ,青草やクローバーを食べた後の吐き戻しはほとんど見られなくなった。これに加えて,居室に藁を入れ,給餌食物を藁の中に混ぜ込んで採食時間の延長を試みた結果,夕食時の吐き戻しはほとんど消失した。 吐き戻し防止の対策としては,居室内に藁を敷くことで防止効果があることは先行研究で報告されていたが,今回の試みにより,吐きにくい食物を与えることも効果的であることがわかった。給餌品目に青草などを導入することで吐き戻しを防止する試みは,日本モンキーセンターでもおこなわれており,その効果が報告されている。吐き戻し防止の有効な方法のひとつとして考えられる。 今後は,屋内だけでなく,屋外運動場でもおこなわれている吐き戻しにも対策を検討したい。

Daito Islands, locating about 360km east of Okinawa, are raised atoll reefs consisted of marginal hills and central lowland. The islands would be more raised in the last ice-age (Hypsithermal) than at present, and many ponds in the lagoon are considered to be originated from dolines or uvalas formed in that age. A limnological investigation was made in the latter part of February, 1998,on the 11 uvalas ponds and 2 doline ponds. 124 species of Phytoplankton and 51 species of Zooplankton were found. In regard to the feature of plankton faund and flora as well as the water analysis, it may be inferable that Hosaku-ike, Kamo-ike, Tukimi-ike, Mizukumi-ike, Shiomizu-ike, Miharasi-ike, Tansui-ike, Kasumi-ike, Asahi-ike, Hyoutan-ike, Oo-ike, Shinobu-ike, and Obi-ike are Eutrophic lake Type.

In attaining a high-aged and high-welfare society, various demands have been raised on health monitoring. One demand is to develop an unconstrained and noninvasive measurement instrument for respiration and heart rates. This is because they are the most basic information in monitoring the health of high-aged persons or patients in daily lives. Along this objective, several methods have been studied. But, the methods not only aimed to measure only one signal of the respiration and heart rates, but also were not the methods to assure a complete unconstrained measurement. Moreover, the methods needed much cost in making the equipment.The paper thus proposes a convenient measurement system which makes use of a wire-type respiration pick-up pasted on an air-mat (or water-mat), on which the subjects are laid down, and extracts the respiration and heart rates by applying low-pass and high-pass filters, respectively, to the data. Experiments show that the method offers accurate measurement of respiration and heart rates except for the duration of body movement. The measurement system is thus not only effective, but also easy to use for the cost, the size and the usage of the unconstrained and noninvasive type.

現代の動物園には,果たすべき4つの役割があると言われる。保全・研究・教育とレクリエーションである。しかし,研究や教育の面では,日本の動物園はその役割を果たしているとは言い難い。京都市動物園では,2008年より京都大学と連携して,野生動物保全に関する研究や教育を共同で行ってきた。さらに2013年4月より新たなセクションとして,生き物・学び・研究センターを設置し,動物園が主体的に研究や教育を行う姿勢を明らかにした。本稿では,京都市動物園が現在取り組んでいる研究や教育の取り組み事例を紹介する。研究では,霊長類を対象にした比較認知科学研究と,ゴリラの妊娠・出産から人工哺育児を両親に戻すまでの過程を観察した研究を紹介する。教育としては,地元の中学校と連携した体験実習プログラムを紹介する。生き物・学び・研究センターでは,研究・教育を実施する上で必要な資金を,外部の助成金を獲得することでまかなっている。それら外部資金についても紹介し,その獲得の意義について,外部評価を受けるという視点から考察したい。
