It is alleged that people in economically advanced countries tend to look down on the people in Africa. Geography lessons on Africa have been pointed out as negative and one-sided. The Course of Study requires teachers to use an enquiry-based approach and take up global issues. However, students may perceive Africa negatively if only the global issues of Africa are explored. The textbooks for junior high schools ask students to think how to solve these global issues, so do some teachers. This is challenging for students who have studied neither the history of Africa nor international trade, especially when they have only taken 3–4 h lessons. As the Course of Study of the compulsory geography class for a senior high school shows, thinking about future directions should be a part of senior high school education. The textbooks deal with food-related problems both globally and in Africa. A teacher made his students aware of global issues by studying the production of raw materials for smartphones and chocolate, thus enabling students to think critically about development and generating potential support from various perspectives. The syllabus and the textbooks for key stage 3 geography in England deal with the short history and ecosystem of Africa with an aim that students realize the regional diversity and understand various viewpoints regarding development to prevent stereotypical opinions. People in economically advanced countries perceive African local farming as low in efficiency. However, to prevent risks caused by drought and other disasters, African local farmers have grown various crops at farms, for example. A variety of crops fits the local ecosystem and is highly sustainable. Although possibly viewed as people who need help, many of these farmers are strong, as is evident by various kinds of work done by them in the village and nearby cities and their overall assistance. Geography lessons on Africa should ensure that students do not perceive Africa stereotypically. The author suggests a unit-wise lesson plan on Africa for a junior high school, which addresses global issues as well. It will encourage students to examine regional characteristics using geographical views and ways of thinking, to become conscious of the connections with African peoples and see the global issues in Africa as their own, and to understand regional diversity, resulting in positive views on Africa.

黒毛和牛肉に特有な好ましい香りである和牛香に寄与する香気成分を明らかにするために,和牛肉と輸入牛肉(豪州産)から連続水蒸気蒸留により香気画分を取得し,ガスクロマトグラフィー分析,ガスクロマトグラフィー-マススペクトロメトリー分析,ガスクロマトグラフィー-においかぎ分析を行った.分析の結果,ラクトン類5種,ケトン類5種,アルコール類8種,不飽和アルコール類3種,エステル類2種,脂肪族アルデヒド類9種,脂肪族不飽和アルデヒド類8種,酸類2種,その他6種の計48成分が同定された.このうち,40成分は輸入牛肉より和牛肉に多く検出され,特にラクトン類は和牛肉に著しく多かった.同定された成分についてAEDA(Aroma Extract Dilution Analysis)法により香気寄与率を示すFD factor(flavor dilution factor)を求め,香気特性と合わせて和牛香への寄与を検討した.その結果,和牛香の甘さには,ココナッツ様,桃様の香りを有するラクトン類が寄与し,脂っぽさには脂臭い香りを有する一部のアルコール類やアルデヒド類などと,バター様の香りを有するジアセチルやアセトインなどが寄与していると推定された.

The surfaces of many industrial products, such as a holl drill, gas turbine engine and so on, are coated with diamond and ceramic material for improving the material properties.On the other hand, the surface may accumulate an oxidation layer by reaction of oxygen with inceasing time.These Common damage, in service, is "delamination".It is known that the delamiation will be caused by compressive stress in these coating layer which is generated by vibration and fatigue loading for industrial coating, and volume expansion for oxidation.The actual coating delamination process as follow had been clarified by many studies.The coating layer is buckled locally by compressive loadingand is then delaminated along the substrate.The aim of this study is to clarify the coating delamination mechanism under compressive stress by observing continuously buckling and delaminating process in the coating layer, which is modelled by engineering plastic in this study. The delamination evaluation method is proposed based on an interface mechanics, and an accuracy of the evaluation is examined using finite element analysis.Finally, the proposed evaluation are applied to the experimental results obtained by this study.

初等・中等教育における情報教育では,フルサイズキーボードを使用した,きちんとした文章作成能力の育成が重要である.本研究では,そのような目的に合った学童用モバイルシステムを提案する.このシステムはフルサイズの丸められるキーボードを備えているので,学童はランドセルへ入れて学校と家庭の間を持ち運び,教室内学習と校外学習の両方で同じコンピュータ環境を使って学習することができる.ハンディサイズの組込みLinuxコンピュータで学童用モバイルシステムを試作した.今後,実際の教室内学習と校外学習を通じて,学童のきちんとした文章作成能力の育成に有効であることを証明していく.In the information study in elementary and secondary education, training for writing the orderly text creation with the full-size keyboard is important. Then we propose a mobile system suitable for such purposes. Schoolchildren will be able to use the system for the classroom learning and home study, because the system has a full-size foldable keyboard and they can stow the system into their knapsacks and carry about it on one's way to and from school. We produced a prototype of the proposed system using a Linux built in computer of a handy size. We plan to evaluate the system through actual classroom learning and home study.

症例は66歳男性.大腸癌に対する5-FUをベースとした全身化学療法中(FOLFILI+パニツムマブ)に食欲不振,倦怠感と急激な腹水の貯留を認めた.血液生化学所見では肝逸脱酵素の上昇と低アルブミン血症,PTの低下を認めた.画像診断では著明な脂肪肝を認め薬物性の肝障害,脂肪肝と考えられた.薬物の中断,利尿剤の投与等を行ったところすみやかに症状,肝機能の改善,腹水の消失,画像上の脂肪肝の消失を認めた.発症1年前の肝切除標本においては背景肝に脂肪化,肝細胞障害,線維化,炎症所見等は認めなかった.発症2カ月前のCTにおいても肝臓に異常所見を認めなかった.3回の肝切除後の肝容積の回復は良好で5年9カ月の全経過の後,間質性肺炎で死亡するまで肝転移の再発は認めなかった.臨床経過からイリノテカンを被疑薬とする薬物性急性脂肪肝と考えられた.

肝細胞固有の機能の一つとして重要視されている糖新生能を,糖原性アミノ酸であるL-Alanine (以下Ala)を負荷したときの血糖上昇度および糖代謝調節諸因子の動態を観察することにより判定し,本検査の肝細胞予備能判定法としての有用性につき検討した.対象は慶大内科において確診した肝硬変症17例(代償期8例,非代償期9例)および健常対照例6例の計23例である.15時間絶食後に10% Ala溶液300mlを30分間で静注し経時的に180分まで血糖, IRI,乳酸,アラニン,IRG値を測定した.Ala負荷後,対照群では,点滴終了直後に約10mg/dlの血糖上昇を認め,以後速やかに下降したが肝硬変代償期群では血糖上昇度は7mg/dlと低下傾向をみたが有意差はなかった.これに対して非代償期群では血糖上昇度は全くみられず,むしろ低血糖傾向すら示した.この非代償期群ではAla負荷後の血中乳酸・アラニン値も停滞しAlaの利用障害が示唆された.Ala負荷後血糖上昇のみられなかった群の予後は不良であり,本試験は肝細胞予備能判定の手段として有用であることが示唆された.

We have established the torsion pin test method with tension to evaluate shearing delamination strength of thermal sprayed coating under tension-torsion combined stresses, recently. Apparent delamination strength depends on the diameter of the pin, so the stress distributions around the interface edge between the top-coat and the bond-coat have to be analyzed by using the finite element analysis based on the experimental results to see the real delamination strength. Before analyzing, the deformation properties of the thermal sprayed coating have to be known. In this report, macroscopic elastic deformation properties of the four kinds of porous thermal barrier coating (TBC) is investigated experimentally and analytically. First, the indentation tests are performed to obtain the loading and unloading-depth curves in various load levels, and secondarily Young's moduli are explored by using the unloading-depth curves, Hertz-contact theory and FEM analysis at several loading levels. It becomes clear that the obtained Young's moduli increase with increasing indentation load, which means that the obtained Young's modulus is an apparent modulus of the coating having some structural failure caused by indentation test. As the results, the real Young's moduli are determined at the very small load level with no structural failure for the four kinds of porous thermal barrier coatings.

Tensile and fatigue tests were conducted on type 304 stainless steel plate-shaped specimens repaired by High Velocity Oxy Fuel (HVOF) spraying. Specimen surfaces were machined for repair into trapezoid with the same depth, the same length, and various slope angles (called here cutting angles). During tensile tests, damage evolution in the repaired part was continuously monitored under increasing load. Quantitative evaluation of the relationship between the strain gauge attached to the repaired part surface and the cross-head displacement was performed. In fatigue tests, influence of the repaired shape on damage evolution was studied, and obtained fatigue lives were compared between the cutting angles. According to tensile testing results, crack initiation strain values increase with cutting angles. At the same time, residual stresses were mostly compressive and almost independent from cutting angles, thus positively affecting the magnitude of fatigue strength. Fatigue test results indicated that specimens repaired with a cutting angle of 50°possess a superior fatigue life. The results showed that the HVOF spraying can potentially replace welding repair.

Icing is one of important problems that have to be prevented in jet engine of airplane. If thin ice layer deposited on the surface of blade is detached in fight, the debris is scattered and then impacts to a rear stage blade. Such impact of the debris could lead to catastrophic fracture of the blades. Numerical simulation is a powerful tool to understand how the icing is grown and detached. Thus, the icing phenomenon has been focused on the point of view from fluid mechanics. However, fundamental knowledge for mechanical property of ice itself and the adhesion of the ice layer is still very poor. The aim of this study is to examine about the mechanical property including Young's modulus, fracture toughness and adhesive strength at a low temperature. First of all, as a result of bending test on ice, it was found that the Young's modulus and fracture toughness of ice was increased as ambient temperature being low and loading speed being increased. Then, a shear force test was performed using ice/aluminum alloy to evaluate the interfacial fracture toughness as adhesive strength. As a result, the interfacial fracture toughness was decreased as ambient temperature being low and loading speed being increased. Based on those results, it is concluded that the mechanical property and adhesive strength are strongly affected by ambient temperature and loading speed.

近年、インターネットの普及により容易に情報を得たり発信したり<br />できるようになっている。多くの人が自由に投稿,閲覧できるため、<br />著作権を侵害した漫画の画像も多く投稿されている。<br />投稿されている全ての画像を人の手で確認していく作業は現実的ではない。<br />そこで、作者同定の支援が必要となる。<br /><br />本研究の最終目標は、漫画作者を認識することである。本論文では、<br />作者認識の前処理となる可能性の高いキャラクタの認識について検討を行った。<br /><br />異なる作者の10種類のキャラクタの目の画像を8枚ずつ、計80枚用意した。<br />キャラクタの目の特徴として、方向寄与度特徴,重心,線密度,面密度を用い、<br />ベクトルの距離と向きの比較によって認識実験を行った結果、3位累積分類率は85%となった。

In order to consider countermeasures against concrete cracks caused by drying shrinkage, properties and pore size distribution of raw ore of aggregate which were used usually in Kansai area were measured at the first step. As a result, the following was found. There was a big difference at drying shrinkage ratio of each raw ore and there was a difference by core boring direction, too. But, even if same kind of raw ore, some have a big difference at drying shrinkage ratio by core boring direction, but the other doesn't have. High young's modulus of raw ore decreases its drying shrinkage. Low pore volume under 15nm radius of raw ore tends to decrease its drying shrinkage.

(研究・教育システム)われわれは,立命館大学において.経済・経営・理工の学部横断的な研究・教育システムづくりの一環として,ファイナンス・インスティテュートを設置し,一昨年来その研究教育システムの開発に取り組んできた。これは,現代企業に突きつけられている複雑な課題を文理総合型の新たな仕組みの中で,その解決策を発見できないかと考えたからである。このような取り組みは,学際的な研究教育の仕組み作りを必要とした。(データ・ベース)そこで,ファイナンス分野での研究・教育をすすめるために,現存のマクロ・データ,株価データ,企業財務データなどのデータを総合的に分析するための研究・教育用ソフトウェアを,バックグラウンドを異にする研究者の協力共同のもとで,開発した。と同時に,別途資金により日経クイック社の協力を得て新たなデータ・ダウンロードのためのもう一つの仕組みも完成させ,これも併用している。これらは学生初学者用ウェッブ・ページ版と中級上級用バッチ処理版およびアクセス対応版の三本立てでデータベースへのアクセスをする仕組みを完成させるとともに日経クイック版とあわせ,これらの研究・教育の両面からの利用を進めてきた。それぞれ一長一短がある。今後もこれらの改善すすめる予定である。ここで最大の問題は,環境その他日進月歩でできあがったものがすぐに陳腐化してしまうことである。そこで,科研以外の資金も活用しつつ,かつ日経クイック,大和SBをはじめとする資金力のある外部機関との共同の取り組みでこれに対応しようとしている。(教育プログラム)教育プログラムとしては,2000年度開講の『金融市場分析実習』の内容となるものを共同して研究し,これを教育に活用したが,なお改善の余地があると考え,現在さらに改善しテキストにしようとしている。その第一の内容は,証券アナリスト資格要件の一つとして,財務分析,の学習が課されており,これを含んで,実際のアナリスト業務を行うにあたっての素養としての企業分析の実習を内容とする。第二は,ファイナンシャル・エコノミクスに基づいた金融市場分析を内容とする。これについては,別途大和SBが開発したPoet-SBを活用した教育を進めてきている。これらについても一定その成果を別途冊子にまとめた。(研究プログラム)現在,まずはこれまでの研究を基礎に,前者を内容とするテキスト作りを進めている。これと並行して,日本の金融システムと企業財務戦略に関する研究を深めるという作業を行っている。成果の刊行はすでに終えたものの他,なお継続中のものもあるが,これまでの成果をさしあたり別途冊子にまとめた。
