We investigate the characteristics of great earthquakes occurring in the central Kuril Islands on 1915, 1918, 2006 and 2007. Comparisons of seismic intensity distributions, tsunami data and waveforms of above four events were made. Though magnitudes of these earthquakes were almost the same, only the 1915 event did not generate observable tsunami. This fact may be due to deep focal depth of this earthquake. Similarities of seismic intensity distributions between the 1915, 1971 and 2008 deep-focus earthquakes also imply that the 1915 event was the deep-focus event in the northeastern Okhotsk Sea. Waveform properties of the 1915 and 2008 events supports above hypothesis. We conclude, therefore, that the 1915 earthquake was not the event in the central Kuril Island but in the Okhotsk Sea with deep depth. Large tsunami and widespread felt area of the 1918 earthquake show that this event was a typical shallow-dipping thrust event on plate boundary as indicated by previous studies.

In the pipeline of a hydraulic system or a liquid transportation system, liquid column separation occurs when the pressure drops below the gas release pressure or saturated vapor pressure. When the cavity produced by the column separation collapses, an extraordinary high build-up of pressure, which is very harmful for the hydraulic system and the components, can occur. The behavior of the dissolved air contained in the liquid makes this even more complicated. To predict the duration of the separation and the peak pressure caused by the collapse, a simple one-dimensional model is proposed, in which gas-liquid surfaces are taken and the effect of released air is taken into account using a homogeneous mixture approximation and the method of characteristics. With regards to the first pressure peak, the calculated results agree well with the experimental ones.

On December 2, 2010, MJMA4.6 shallow felt earthquake occurred beneath southeastern part of Sapporo city. Three temporal seismic stations were installed near epicentral area. Reliable hypocenter data estimated by double difference procedure with local seismic velocity structure indicated clear southeastern-dipping distribution. Fault plane from focal mechanism estimated from P-wave polarization well agreed with this hypocenter distribution. Geometry of hypocenter distribution was also well consistent with an anticline structure and possible buried active fault estimated for earthquake disaster damage assumption by local government. Recalculation of hypocenters of the 1985, 1990, and 2010 felt earthquakes under equal condition implied that epicentral locations of these three events were approximately same. These facts implied possible stress concentration in epicentral region.

現在,高度道路交通システム(Intelligent Transport Systems:ITS)及びその1構成システムであるAHS(Advanced cruise-assist Highway Systems)についての研究が盛んである.このAHSを構成する一つとして,道路カラー画像から道路標識を抽出・認識し運転者に注意を喚起するシステムが考えられている.本論文では,実用的な処理時間で円形道路標識を抽出可能な新しい手法を提案する.提案手法は,入力となる道路カラー画像から道路標識に使用されている色(特定色)を判別した後,その分布状況によって抽出処理の対象領域を限定することにより,処理時間の大幅な削減を図っている.更に,抽出領域に占める特定色の面積比率を利用することにより,抽出精度の向上と更なる処理時間の短縮を図っている.53枚の道路カラー画像を用いた評価実験の結果,94.7%の高抽出率を達成するとともに,平均処理時間が約2.18秒とほぼ実用的な処理時間を達成できることが示された.

The Tokachi-oki earthquake (MJMA8.0) occurred on September 26, 2003 (JST) off southeastern Hokkaido, Japan. We investigate the seismic activity before and after the mainshock using hypocenter catalogues produced by Japan Meteorological Agency and Hokkaido University. A decline of seismic activity and a seismic gap in the asperity of the 2003 earthquake had been clearly recognized from the early 1990's to just the mainshock faulting. Similar low seismicity had been observed before the former 1952 Tokachi-oki earthquake (MJMA 8.2). These facts may reflect that the plate boundary fixed loosely has become tight coupling during one seismic cycle. A relatively low seismicity patch during the interseismic phase corresponds to the asperity. This suggests that interseismic seismic activity is strongly controlled by existence of the asperity. The aftershock region of the 2003 earthquake is approximately 160km by 160km, which is slightly smaller than that of the 1952 earthquake. This feature is in good agreement with the slip distributions of the 1952 and 2003 earthquakes estimated from tsumani waveform inversions. Large aftershocks are located out of the asperity, which may reflect the stress status in and around the asperity. Remarkable triggered seismic activity has begun just after the mainshock along the volcanic front in the eastern Hokkaido.

我々は群馬大学附属図書館本館書庫並びに特殊資料室に,未登録明治期教科書が大量に保管されていることを知った.蔵書の多くは旧群馬県師範学校,群馬県女子師範学校から継承されたものであった.本稿ではその中から我々による目録化がなされた理系和装本276冊を取り上げる.まず,我々による目録化に至る経緯を述べる.次いで目録作製の方針・細則を述べ,目録を掲載する.さらに,目録中の初所蔵を示す蔵書印に着目し,図書の由来ともなるその由来について考察する.

りんかい線大井町駅部は, 用地上の制約から, シールドトンネルのセグメントの一部を撤去し, 隣接する立坑間を地中開削し, 接合して構築した. この際下部シールドトンネルが, 水圧300kN/m2を超える東京礫層に位置するため, 止水対策が最重要視された. 工期上の制限から, 薬液注入工法を採用し, 注入を1次, 2次, 補足注入の三段階とし万全を図るとともに, 注入効果を比抵抗トモグラフィ等で確認した. 確認試験結果は注入の良好性を示し, 補足注入も1次注入の1/10以下であった. さらに, 漏水のリスク低減のためのディープウェルを計画し, 三次元浸透流解析で事前検討を行なった. その結果, 大きな漏水もなく, ウェルの水位低下量, 地表面沈下等も予測と矛盾のない範囲で安全な施工が達成された.

水の溶存無機炭素(DIC)分析では、試料採取から分析までの期間に生物活動によりDICが変化しないように、塩化第二水銀の添加が認知されているが、水銀の錯体形成等の影響や環境負荷が大きいことが問題である。そこで、水試料のDIC変化を防ぐ処理として、塩化ベンザルコニウム(BAC)の添加とろ過を併用した手法を確立する。具体的には、ろ過実施に関するブランク検証と最適なろ紙孔径の選択、BACの添加によるブランクの低減手順の検証、複数の天然試料を用いた処理の有効性の検証を行う。本研究により水銀を使用せずに正確なDIC分析が可能となることで、分析の効率化と安全性の向上を実現し、将来にわたって大きな貢献となる。

The purpose of this study was to clarify the relationship between shapes of the epiglottis and risk of aspiration. The subjects consisted of ten normal volunteers and sixty-eight stroke patients with dysphagia. Using videofluorographic images, shapes of the epiglottis were divided into three groups, straight, curved, and closed type. The appearance ratio of types of epiglottis shape in normal volunteers was not significantly different from those in dysphasic patients. The risk of aspiration was significantly different from the types of epiglottis shape, which was the highest in the patients of curved epiglottis and lowest in those of straight-type epiglottis.The results revealed that the shape of the epiglottis is useful to predict the risk of aspiration.

韓国の古墳および遺跡から出土した翡翠勾玉の集成的研究を行った。次に、これを基礎にして、分布の特徴を明らかにするとともに、各地における出現時期や出土数の変化を検討した。また、弥生・古墳時代の翡翠勾玉と比較して、韓国出土のものが日本列島からもたらされた可能性が高いことを指摘した。そして、これらを踏まえ、韓国出土翡翠勾玉の流通過程について3つのパターンを検討した。なお、一部の成果を1冊の報告書にまとめた。

巨大腹部腫瘍摘出術の麻酔管理では,特に呼吸・循環管理に注意を要し,腫瘍が大きいほどその管理に難渋する.今回,われわれは腫瘍重量約70kgの超巨大卵巣腫瘍摘出術の麻酔管理を経験した.症例は37歳女性,左卵巣摘出術の既往があった.入院時,貧血,酸素飽和度(SpO2)の低下と軽度の拘束性換気障害以外に大きな合併症はなかったが,腹囲が大きすぎるためMRI等の術前検査を十分に行うことができなかった.導入時の低酸素血症と再膨張性肺水腫を念頭に呼吸管理を行い,心拍出量,1回拍出量変化,中心静脈圧を指標としながら循環管理を行った.気道確保器具の選択や,術後呼吸器合併症にも注意が必要であった.

If δQ1 is the total energy consumed or accumulated in unit volume of the lower atmosphere per unit time and δQ2 is that which enters in or comes out of this space per unit time δQ1 should be equal to δQ2. δQ1 and δQ2 are calculated by the following equations, We calculated numerically these equations of the atmosphere using the data obtained at Tokyo observatory. We made sure that the 1st law of thermodynamics holds satisfactorily good in the atmosphere.
