Conventional CCD registers for full frame or frame transfer scheme image sensors have disadvantages such as low light sensitivity due to light absorption in electrodes, high dark current generated at Si-SiO_2 interfaces, and small charge handling capability that results from the surface pinning mode of operation. To solve these problems, we proposed CCD register driven through a barrier in February 2000. The register cell was an inverted version of the photo-diode with a vertical overflow drain that is used as the driving electrode. In simulating the register's characteristics in back illumination mode, we found that all the above-disadvantages disappeared, but the characteristics were rather sensitive to the height, width, and location of SiO_2 film required to isolate electrodes. Therefore, some difficulty remains in fabrication processes. This paper proposes a new version of DTB-CCD where a specific-feature SiO_2 layer covers a part of the barrier surface. This layer not only helps to minimize the structure sensitiveness of performance but also makes it possible to employ the conventional overlapping poly-Silicon electrode process. A thin SiO_2 layer between electrodes and optimized width and thickness of the SiO_2 layer on the barrier minimizes potential barrier height in channels and thus improve transfer efficiency. The simulated charge handling capability of the improved DTB-CCD was 3〜4 times greater than that of a two-phase CCD register driven by surface pinning mode.

In a relay station of SFN (Single Frequency Networks) for DTB (Digital Terrestrial Broadcasting), a coupling effect between transmitting antenna and receiving antenna should be reduced to an allowable level in order to avoid distortion and oscillation problem. Therefore, we have already made a basic report of the coupling canceler using reference signals such as SP (Scattered Pilot) contained in QAM-OFDM signals. In this paper, we propose a method of calculating transfer function of the coupling paths for the PSK-OFDM modulation schemes without SP, and applied the proposal method to the coupling canceler on some computer simulations. The simulations have shown the usefulness of the proposed method.

近年,ユーザの映像アクセスを支援するサービスの必要性が高まっており,それを実現する上で,さらに個人の趣味・嗜好を考慮に入れることが強く求められている.そこで,本稿では,メタデータを付与された映像メディアに対し,検索などのサービスを実現し,さらにユーザの視聴行動から自動的に趣味・嗜好を獲得するシステムを提案する.そして,実験により個人の趣味・嗜好を自動獲得する手法の有用性を検証する.

We propose estimation technique of user preferences for TV programs based on channel operations. The user preferences are available for automatic recommendation of TV programs. For practical use, automatically learning the preferences of a user from a channel selection history is important. However, obtaining such information is difficult because most users change channels frequently and do not watch programs from beginning to end. For automatic learning under such situations, an appropriate hypothesis describing the relationship between viewing time and preference degree for a program is needed. We propose three hypotheses and compared their utility in our program recommendation system. Experimental results showed that the preference for a TV program is not proportional to the viewing time, but becomes either 1 (like) or 0 (dislike) about 30 minutes after channel selection.

Three new objective performance evaluation criteria, C/Vn (Carrier to Visual noise ratio), N/Vn (Noise to Visual noise ratio), and C/N (Carrier to Noise ratio), for imaging systems are proposed. These criteria are quantified based on visual noise characteristics derived from a human vision model formulated by the author ; in an output image from imaging systems, to which a sine-wave is inputted, C/Vn and N/Vn are defined, respectively, as the quantity of the perceptible sine-wave component with the frequency equal to the input sine-wave and as the quantity of all the perceptible noise components, and C/N is a simplified expression for integrating C/Vn and N/Vn. These criteria are applied to the performance evaluation of imaging systems based on the density-gradation-method such as CRTs, LCDs, printers and so on. They are calculated as parameters of pixel aperture ratio, quantizing level number, and pixel size. In actual computation, pulse-amplitude-modulated sinusoidal waves are used as output images from such imaging systems. The calculated fundamental characteristics suggest that the objective performance evaluation criteria are effective in quantitatively expressing human subjective evaluation judgments.

カメラによる手指形状推定を情報入力に用いることを考えた場合,その入力画像には,「手指」と「前腕」が撮像されることになる.そのため,撮像された画像から「手指」領域のみを抽出し,推定する必要がある.本研究では,入力画像から「手指」のみを切り出すアルゴリズムを提案する,さらに,前腕の傾きを推定するアルゴリズムと組み合わせることで,手指がカメラにどのように撮像されて推定が可能なシステムを実現した.評価実験では,全指関節の平均誤差の平均値-2.11度,標準偏差±14.14度と高精度な推定を実現した.

温度・湿度などの環境データの収集,人体の状態監視,物の移動追跡など無線センサネットワークが注目されている.センサネットワークでは各種データの収集とともに位置情報を必要とすることが多い.さらに,センサノードが常に移動していることが想定されることから,位置推定法が重要な技術である.IEEE802.15.4に基づくZigBeeでは受信信号強度(RSSI)を使用することで,比較的容易に位置推定が可能である.しかし,この方法を適用するためには屋内環境での伝搬特性を事前に把握していなければならない.実験的に伝搬特性を測定することは,時間とコストの観点から困難である.本報告においては,RSSIマップ作成における大規模電磁界解析に基づく計算機シミュレーションの有効性について検討する.すなわち,ZigBeeを使用したRSSI測定結果とシミュレーション結果を比較することで,シミュレーション結果の妥当性および提案手法の有効性を明らかにする.

502 (V) ×600 (H) 画素フレームインタライン転送CCD (FIT-CCD) 撮像素子を試作し, スミア特性, 可変電子シャッタ駆動, および, 従来の蓄積駆動の欠点を改良した新フレーム蓄積駆動を中心に検討し, その確認を行った.その結果, スミア特性については, 転送周波数依存性との関係を調べ, 掃出し周波数を1MHzで行うことにより0.0003%と, 従来のIT-CCDに比べ大幅な低減効果を得た.電子シャッタについては1/60, 1/125, 1/250, 1/500, 1/1000, 1/2000秒のシャッタ速度が可能なことを確認した.新フレーム蓄積駆動として, フレーム残像がなく, 高い垂直解像度が得られる電荷制御フレーム蓄積 (CCフレーム蓄積) 駆動を提案し, 良好な結果を得た.また, FIT-CCDに伴う, 垂直転送効率, 信号電流に検討を加え, 良好な素子特性を実現した.

CCD固体撮像素子にとって, ダイナミックレンジの拡大は残された大きな課題である.これを解決するために, 我々はMOSFETのサブスレッショルド特性を利用した対数変換回路を各画素に内蔵した, 対数変換CCDラインセンサを開発した.画素数2240×3画素, 受光部面積12μm口, 対数変換部のFETのL/W=12/10μmで, 5桁を越える光量変化に対してその対数に比例した出力が得られることを確認した.対数変換CCDラインセンサは, (1)ダイナミックレンジが広いので, 高輝度・低輝度被写体を同時に取れる, (2)濃度に比例した出力が得られるので, ディジタル化しても階調豊かな画像を得ることができ, また, シェーディング補正が加減算でできる, という特長を持つ.これらの特長により, 対数変換CCDはディジタルコピヤカメラ型スキャナフィルムスキャナ等への応用が期待される.

本研究室では,ディジタル道路地図作成に関する研究を行っている.ディジタル道路地図の作成においては,画像情報と,DGPS,3軸ジャイロから得られる情報を用いている.しかし,最終的な精度は,DGPSの精度に大きく依存しているのが現状である.DGPSは周辺の環境に左右されやすく,遮蔽など様々な要因により精度が悪くなる.従来,このような場合には補正を行っていたが,その精度は3軸ジャイロに依存しており,誤差が累積した場合,道路線形と異なる形状を示すことがあった.そこで,道路線形に近い形状を結果として得られるように,多項式近似を用いた手法を提案する.

近年位置情報は非常に有用であり、また重要なコンテンツとして使用されている。その位置情報の中でも携帯電話などでも使用されているGPSは身近なものとして色々なシーンで使用されている。しかしそのGPS情報は使用状況によっては大きな誤差が生じる。そのGPSに生じる誤差について詳細に解析を行った。

Illusions sometimes give us the keys to understand the mechanisms of the visual information processing. But, the mechanisms of the brightness illusions, for example the Mach band of the Craik-O'Brien effect, are not clear yet. In this paper, the role of the filling-in process on the brightness perception is explained. Its computational theory is discussed. And a neural network model of the filling-in process on the brightness perception is constructed based on the computational theory. Some properties of the Mach band and the Craik-O'Brien effect are simulated with the model, and its behavior is similar to some psychological experiment results.

To examine how rapidly, and to what extent, humans obtain sufficient information for searching during fixation, we experimented with visual search by masking the subject's central vision at various onsets and sizes after he had fixated there. The subjects counted circles embedded in distractors. From the results, we learned that, in an area of 4.2 degrees, sufficient visual information could be acquired in 33 ms. The oculomotor control system was not affected by masking. The distribution of the fixation duration varied according to the onset of masking. suggesting that eye movements were quickened by the masking of central vision, and saccades occurred about 130 ms after at the onset of masking.

本稿では,高精細ディジタル画像入力のためのビデオモザイク方式の実現を目標とし,ズームとスキャニング撮影によるモザイク化方式を提案する.これによって,ユーザは被写体全体を高精細を生成,もしくは興味領域のみの部分的な高精細化した画像を生成することを可能とする.被写体全体を含む画像を基準画像として用い,撮影位置・撮影カバー面積情報を用いた各フレームの低解像度変換処理により,各フレームと基準画像との解像度の相違による処理の破綻の回避,被写体全体を含む画像との差分パラメータを推定することにより累積誤差の低減を実現する手法について検討する.

ネットワーク上の大量の情報コンテンツに対して,マップ散策型のインタフェースを用いて関連発見的な情報提供を可能とするコンテンツガイドシステム「AssociaGuide」を提案する.AssociaGuideによって電子地図をメタファとする操作感覚で,直感的にコンテンツの探索が可能となる.本研究では,ネットワーク上の大量のストリーミング映像コンテンツのガイドを実現するブロードバンドコンテンツガイドシステムとしてAssociaGuideを提案する.AssociaGuideの画面上ではブロードバンドコンテンツは,各ジャンルごとに宇宙空間の星雲のように表現され,所望のジャンルにズームインするとサムネイルとして表示される.サムネイルをクリックすることによりプレビュー映像が提示され,映像の世界ですばやく番組の概要を掴むことが可能である.さらに本視聴を指定するとプレイヤーが立ち上がりストリーミングコンテンツを閲覧することができる.このようにAssociaGuideでは,マップ散策空間上で映像サーフィンを楽しむ様々な機能が提供されている.

最近, 各産業分野とも加工やマテリアルハンドリングの自動化によって, 生産現場での生産性は飛躍的に向上してきたが, 人件費や資材費の高騰, 円高など国内外の急激な情勢変化に対処するため, さらにより以上の向上が要求されている。一方, 生産工程の中で, 視覚的あるいは感覚的な判断をともなう検査, 仕分けなどの過程ではまだ多くを人手に頼っており, 自動化はそれほど進んではいない。しかも, これらの検査, 仕分け過程は高温, 騒音, 暗室などの良好ではない環境の下での作業が多いため, 労働衛生の見地からも自動化が強く要求されはじめている。このほどパターン計測・選別システム"MELSORT"が, この時代の要請に応え, 視覚的な判断を伴なうもののうち, まず比較的単純なパターン要素を対象として, 検査, 流通過程の判定, 仕分け作業の自動化, 省力化を図るため製品化された。
