Paenibacillus larvae and Melissococcus plutonius are bacterial pathogens of honey bee brood. As decontamination of beekeeping equipment, including combs, is essential to control these pathogens, we evaluated the disinfecting effects of slightly acidic hypochlorous acid water (SAHAW) and weakly acidified chlorous acid water (WACAW) on the pathogens. Both disinfectants exhibited strong disinfecting effects in suspension tests under no organic matter conditions and reduced both pathogens by >5 log10 CFU/ml. Although the microbicidal activity of SAHAW with an available chlorine concentration (ACC) of 10–30 ppm was decreased by organic matter, it reduced viable P. larvae spores in combs more efficiently than H2O when the comb was not as dirty. However, its efficacy on combs decreased at 4°C and when overused or highly contaminated combs were tested. WACAW with an ACC of ≥600 ppm had a higher disinfecting capacity than SAHAW, and efficiently removed P. larvae spores from combs even under organic matter-rich and low-temperature conditions. However, even by WACAW, the amount of viable spores in combs was not markedly reduced depending on contamination levels and P. larvae genotypes. These results suggest the usefulness of both disinfectants for decontaminating beekeeping equipment depending on the situations expected.

Lure fishing and fly-fishing have been positioned as sports deliberately different from the traditional Japanese fishing-style. In the case of fly-fishing, casting is the element which anglers must master in order to cast a fly, done so by using the weight of a line. This study uses experimental and computational analysis to investigate the dynamic behavior of a fly line. Fly-fishing is constituted by various elements, but the importance that casting holds is extremely large. Fling speed, the casting process and the loop shape of the line while in flight are important that casting holds is extremely large. Fling speed, the casting process and the loop shape of the line while in flight are important for the proper presentation of flies. Moreover, the shape of a fly line is also important for a long cast or controlled cast. Fly is a lure that imitates an aquatic insect or a small fish, and becomes the prey of the target fish. And, there are countless of fly patterns. Therefore, anglers necessary to select an appropriate rod or line according to the size of the fly. In this paper, a rod, a line and arms are modeled by using rigid bodies and links. The time history behavior of the model is calculated by pseudo angler velocity of the arms. The validity of the model in detail is investigated. And, proper rod and line in accordance with the fly of the size is verified.

Patients with sudden deafness who were treated either in our department or in our branch hospital between January 1984 and December 1994 were divided into two groups. Group A consisted of 69 patients who were treated with steroids, vasodilators, and stellate ganglion block but without hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Group B consisted of the other 85 patients who were treated with not only steroids, vasodilators, and stellate ganglion block but also with hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Patients in the two groups showed no significant difference in age, or number of patients with vertigo, but the initial audiogram was worse and time from onset to consultation were significantly greater in group B than those in group A. The prognoses of the two groups were analyzed by several issues, such as initial audiogram, time from onset to consult and there was no significant difference.

近年メディア・リテラシー研究の一つのアプローチとしてメディア観の変容に着目した研究が行われるようになってきた。それらの研究ではメディア観の変容過程はある程度明らかになりつつあるものの,その背景にある変容の要因に着目した研究は少ない。そこで本研究では関西大学で行われるメディア・リテラシー育成を目的とした「AVメディア制作論」の授業を事例に,学生が自由に議論する電子掲示板のグラウンデッド・セオリーに基づいた分析と30名の学生を対象とした半構造化インタビューを通して,学生のメディァ観の変容とその要因を検証する。

This article reproduces and summarizes some of the lectures I gave at Waseda University (2003-2010). This time I will post the contents of an overview of British castles and palaces against the background of the British Isles’ culture and history. Of course, it’s not just a summary of books on British castles I have read so far, but an original article that adds a unique perspective and knowledge of European culture and history I have acquired through my life as a university lecturer for over 20 years. And another point I would like to say here is that I was born and grew up in Japan and I’m extremely familiar with Japanese castles. Therefore, when I look at European castles, comparisons with Japanese castles always come to mind. This time, I will not deal with the comparison of Japanese castles and English castles, but I would like to work on the essential issues and complete a paper on such a subject in a while.

The purpose of this study is to clarify the effect of the method of KR providing on motor learning and functional task difficulty using the probe reaction time technique. Fourteen young male participants were randomly assigned to one of two groups (immediately KR and summary KR). Participants were required to perform two tasks simultaneously. The primary task consisted of a treadmill walk with specific step lengths, and the secondary task consisted of a probe reaction time task. The results suggested that motor learning may be accelerated by summary KR since summary KR probably elicited moderate functional task difficulty.

令和 2 年12月,小林化工株式会社が製造販売する経口抗真菌薬イトラコナゾール錠50mgに睡眠薬原料が混入し,多数の健康被害が発生した.本件を皮切りに,多数の医薬品製造業者において医薬品,医療機器等の品質,有効性及び安全性の確保等に関する法律からの違反が発覚.我が国における医薬品の品質に対する信頼を大きく損なうこととなった.厚生労働省は,このような状況を踏まえ,多角的な観点から再発防止策を講じている.
