Despite decades-long existence of the Philippine stingless bee industry, the biological activity of propolis from this native bee species (Tetragonula biroi Friese) remains poorly understood and sparingly investigated. Herein, we examined the potential anti-inflammatory efficacy of Philippine stingless bee propolis using the lambda (λ)-carrageenan-induced mice model of hind paw edema. Thirty (30), six-week-old, male ICR mice were randomly assigned into three treatment groups (n=10/group) as follows: distilled water group, diclofenac sodium group (10 mg/kg), and propolis group (100 mg/kg). All treatment were administered an hour prior to the injection of the phlogistic agent. As observed at 3 h post-injection, λ-carrageenan remarkably evoked the classical signs of hind paw edema exemplified grossly by swelling and hyperemia. The ameliorative effect of propolis became apparent at the onset of 6 h post-injection with a statistically significant finding evident at the 24-h period. This gross attenuation histologically correlated to a considerable and specific reduction of the dermal edema, which mirrored those of the diclofenac sodium group. Furthermore, both propolis and diclofenac sodium significantly attenuated the λ-carrageenan-induced increase in the protein expression levels of the pro-inflammatory cytokine tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) depicting more than two-fold decrement relative to the distilled water group. Altogether, these suggest that Philippine stingless bee propolis also exhibited a promising in vivo anti-inflammatory property, which can be partly mediated through the inhibition of TNF-α.

A new fluorescence-rejected Raman spectroscopy using frequency-domain four-wave-mixing is demonstrated. This method utilizes a broadband light pulse created by continuum generation as one of two pump pulses and a quasi-CW pulse with narrow bandwidth as a probe pulse. The resulting signal is spectrally analyzed by a monochromator-CCD detector combination. Owing to nonlinear character of this method with spatial discrimination of Raman signal from fluorescence, it is possible to measure Raman signal under fluorescent contamination, the limiting concentration of which is about 1, 000 times higher than that obtained by ordinary Raman spectroscopy.

近年,標的型攻撃の被害が増加しており,その攻撃手法も多様化してきている.標的型攻撃とは,特定の組織を標的として行われるサイバー攻撃であり,攻撃を受ける件数が少なく,攻撃に気付きにくいため,被害が拡大しやすいという特徴がある.このため標的型攻撃対策では,感染の防止だけではなく,感染時の早期発見や被害の軽減などといった,感染を想定した対策が重要である.本研究では,この感染を想定した対策の際に用いられるフィルタリングに関して,Web 翻訳サービスを利用することでフィルタリングを回避可能な攻撃手法を提案し,調査,対策手法の検討を行う.また,短縮URLサービスや Web アーカイブサービスなどの他のサービスを併用した攻撃手法についても調査を行い,対策手法を検討する.この結果,両方の攻撃に対応可能な技術面,運用面の対策を明確にすることができたので報告する.

An intraoperative functional spinal cord monitoring system is a technology used by spine and spinal cord surgeons to perform a safe surgery and to gain further surgical proficiency. However, no existing clinical neurophysiological method used in the operating room can monitor all complex spinal cord functions. Therefore, by observing the activities of certain neural action potentials transferred via limited neural tissues, surgeons need to deductively estimate the function of the whole spinal cord. Thus, as the number of spinal cord functions that need to be observed increases, spinal cord monitoring can be more reliable. However, in some situations, critical decision-making is affected by the limited capability of these methods. Nevertheless, good teamwork enables sharing of seamless information within the team composed of a surgeon, anesthesiologist, monitoring technician and nurses greatly contributes to making quick and accurate decisions. The surgeon, who is the person in charge of the team, should communicate with multidisciplinary team members using common technical terms. For this reason, spine and spinal cord surgeons must have appropriate knowledge of the methods currently used, especially of their utility and limitations. To date, at least six electrophysiological methods are available for clinical utilization: three are used to monitor sensory-related tracts, and three are used to monitor motor-related spinal cord functions. If surgeons perform electrode setting, utilizing their expertise, then the range of available methods is broadened, and more meticulous intraoperative functional spinal cord monitoring can be carried out. Furthermore, if the team members share information effectively by utilizing a clinically feasible judicious checklist or tools, then spinal cord monitoring will be more reliable.

1999年7月山形県鶴岡市で鉢植しているベンケイソウ科の多肉植物Graptopetalum paraguayense(N.E.Br.)E.Walth,園芸名「おぼろづき」の葉身に軟腐症状が発生した.その後葉身全体が軟化腐敗して落下し,隣接葉,茎にも拡大,進展して株全体が倒伏した.本症状の病原学的調査の結果,本症は野菜類軟腐病菌と同種のErwinia carotovora subsp. carotovoraによるこれまで未記載の新病害であることが判明し,多肉植物G.paraguayense,「おぼろづき」の軟腐病(Bacterial Soft Rot)と命名した.

<p>It has been reported that a person's remarks and behaviors reflect the person's personality. Several recent studies have shown that textual information of user posts and user behaviors such as liking and reblogging the specific posts are useful for predicting the personality of Social Networking Service (SNS) users. However, less attention has been paid to the textual information derived from the user behaviors. In this paper, we investigate the effect of using textual information with user behaviors for personality prediction. We focus on the personality diagnosis website and make a large dataset on SNS users and their personalities by collecting users who posted the personality diagnosis on Twitter. Using this dataset, we work on personality prediction as a set of binary classification tasks. Our experiments on the personality prediction of Twitter users show that the textual information of user behaviors is more useful than the co-occurrence information of the user behaviors and the performance of prediction is strongly affected by the number of the user behaviors, which were incorporated into the prediction. We also show that user behavior information is crucial for predicting the personality of users who do not post frequently.</p>

1.本研究は、教職追放政策の変化が教育改革の実施過程に及ぼした影響の分析及び「逆コース論」の理論的検討を通じて、通説とされてきた「逆コース」論の再検証を目的としたものである。2.「逆コース」論の理論的検討をつうじて、この論が教育政策の転換を論ずる際に、その転換が「何から何への変化・転換なのか」、「その変化・転換の性格はどのようなものか」について説得的な論拠を示し得ていないと問題点を明らかにした。3.教育改革の実施過程に及ぼした影響を明らかにするために、ケース・スタディとして東京を対象に分析をおこなった。1948年から1950年の間の東京軍政部及び関東民事部月例活動報告書をもとに教育改革の実施過程の分析を行い、この間の改革に変化・転換があったかどうかを検討した。その結果、変化は一部(教員組合や共産主義に対する政策)に見られたが、基本的には「教育民主化」という政策で一貫していたことを明らかにした。4.以上の検討により、(1)通説である教育「逆コース」論とそれに基づき構築された戦後教育史像には大きな問題点があり、批判的な再検討が必要なこと、(2)そのために、理論的検討と同時に、GHQレベルはWeekly Reportの分析、地方レベルではさらに多数の府県の軍政部民事部が作成した月例活動報告書の分析による実証的研究が必要であること、を提起した。

This paper discusses interviewing skills, which is the most basic for psychological support practitioners, focusing the improvement method during the graduate course and the mind frame before studying theories, explaining as simply as possible. Until the first case interview, the graduate students are expected to stepwisely achieve the following three issues: (1) to turn the main concern from "their own mind" to "the mind of the others", (2) have enough practice of thinking "the mind of the others" in the other person's position, (3) to change the evasive attitude towards psychological communication with others and to think the communication itself as comfortable. Additionally, what is important for the desirable interviews is not to immediately achieve perfection in improving skills, but to keep resilience in recognizing, resolving the problems in a straightforward way.
