This article examines Furukawa Hideo’s Umatachi yo, soredemo hikari wa muku de (Horses, Horses, in the End the Light Remains Pure) and Kawakami Hiromi’s “Kamisama 2011” (God Bless You, 2011), two 3.11 narratives that employ intertextuality to construct radical counter-narratives to trauma. As rewritings of earlier source texts by the respective authors, these intertextual narratives draw the reader into a dynamic relationship with the text, creating a subject position for the reader that is fluid and unsettled. As in the Barthesian “writerly text,” the reader becomes engaged not only in the consumption of the meaning of the text, but also in the very production of meaning. With Kawakami’s “Kamisama 2011” this occurs primarily through the use of language in the text; with Furukawa’s Horses, Horses this takes place through the necessary act of assembling the fragmented pieces of the narrative. This article explores how Kawakami and Furukawa employ intertextuality to represent hallmark trauma narratives that also function as counter-narratives to trauma through their engagement of the reader. These intertextual 3.11 narratives serve as examples of the Barthesian “writerly” text but simultaneously disrupt this aspect of Barthes’s narrative theory by placing emphasis on how the reader is actively implicated in the production of meaning of the text, and how this is contingent on the shared historical, temporal, and sociocultural experience or knowledge of trauma.

侵食対策として急斜面に施工された,ある連続繊維補強土の一部が完成から半年程度で崩落した.崩落箇所 を詳細に調べたところ,背後の地山からの湧水を考慮して設置されていた裏面排水材に赤褐色のゲル状物質が 付着しており,排水能力が低下した可能性が示唆された. そこで本研究では,まず始めに湧水とゲル状物質の性質を簡易的に調査した.次に,現地で裏面排水材の試 験片に地山からの湧水を流すことで目詰まりを再現し,実験室内で垂直方向透水性能試験と面内方向通水性能 試験を実施した.その結果湧水は還元状態にあり,ゲル状物質は鉄イオンの酸化に伴う沈殿物であること,排 水材の透水・通水性能はこの物質の付着によって短期間で急激に低下することが分かった.

中世ヨーロッパでは、聖書の教えに従って利子付き貸付は認められなかった。しかし都市化による貨幣経済の浸透で資金需要が増加し、利子付き貸付を認められていたユダヤ人金貸しだけでなく、キリスト教徒の金貸しも現れて高利を貪った。その影響で、家計費の不足分を借金に依存していた貧困者や女性が苦しめられた。これを救ったのが托鉢修道会である。修道会は慈善活動の一環として、低利の公益質屋の開設を推進した。これらの多くが後に貯蓄銀行に発展し、あるいは公益質屋としても現存している。同志社大学商学部創立七十周年記念論文集(Special issue in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Faculty of Commerce)

The management of sub-contractors and material suppliers is vital for building construction management which requires a great deal of workers or materials. However, it is difficult to find an appropriate data source for investigating this management information itself, particularly time sequential data. The Shimizu Corporation (“Shimizu-Gumi” in the post-war era) has stored approximately 3,000 construction reports from the post-war era (1923–1941), in which the types of businesses of the sub-contractors or material suppliers is recorded, such as carpentry, plastering, and supply of lumber or cements, among others. The aim of this paper is to investigate the actual condition and the changes introduced in the process of the management of sub-contractors and material suppliers by Shimizu-Gumi in the post-war era. Shimizu-Gumi has been one of the largest general contractors in Japan since the 18th century. The authors recorded the types of businesses of house construction (510 records) and office construction (360 records). Up to 30–36 types of businesses are recorded in each construction report. The authors calculated the “appearance rate” and the “average number of businesses.” The “appearance rate” is the percentage of the construction reports which recorded the name of the target type of business in the total construction reports. The “average number of businesses” is, on an average, how many times the type of business is recorded in one construction report. In some cases, a type of business is recorded more than once in one construction report. The findings are as follows: 1. In house construction, there are 47 types of businesses where the appearance rate is more than 5%, while there are 52 types in office construction, among which 43 types are common. The types of businesses in which the appearance rate is high are carpentry, plastering, and scaffolding, among others. The type of business in which the appearance rate is low is mainly supply of materials, which deals with finishing materials. 2. In office construction, the comparison between wooden construction and non-wooden construction (reinforced concrete, steel, etc.) revealed the difference in the appearance rate or changing process, such as the appearance rate of tiles increasing first in wooden office construction and then in non-wooden construction. 3. The appearance rate increased or decreased in several types of businesses. Some of these changes corresponded to previous studies, such as the increase of “tobi-doko” (the integration of tobi, scaffolders, and doko, earth workers) or the increase of tiles and decrease of bricks. 4. There are approximately five types of businesses in which the average number of businesses is more than 1. In the business of metal doors, according to one construction report, data regarding workers (sub-contractors for construction) and material suppliers are recorded. In future studies, the authors will investigate the names of the workers or companies recorded in the construction reports. This will elucidate the selection of workers or material suppliers by the general contractor, the difference between workers of material suppliers in house construction and office construction, and the changing process of types of businesses by the same workers or material suppliers. In addition, further analysis is required to establish whether these findings can be applied to other general contractors or other types of constructions.

Doping effects for the A-site in double-perovskite type oxide Sr2-xMxFeMoO6 (M = Ba, La) are investigated on the thermoelectric properties of the oxides. The Seebeck coefficient, S, shows that all the samples of both Ba- and La-doped Sr2FeMoO6 systems are n-type over the measured temperature range. In particular, the power factor, S2σ, of the Sr2FeMoO6 system largely increased with increasing Ba doping level up to x = 0.3. As a consequence, S2σ of Sr1.7Ba0.3FeMoO6 reached ca. 0.8 × 10-4 W/mK2, the largest value of all the samples in this study. The thermal conductivity, κ, shows a general trend in which the value decreases from ca. 1 W/mK at room temperature to ca. 0.7 W/mK at 1100 K. The dimensionless figure of merit, ZT, of the Ba-doped samples increased with increasing Ba doping level. Moreover, the ZT value drastically increased above 700 K due to the S2σ value increasing above 700 K and the κ value decreasing monotonically. As a result, the ZT value of Sr1.7Ba0.3FeMoO6 reached 0.31 at 1100 K.

A high purity powder of Sr2MgMoO6−δ (SMM) was synthesized by a solid-state reaction under atmosphere-controlled conditions. The powder was sintered at a relatively low temperature (1200°C) to prepare compacts with high grain boundary density. SMM is a promising anode material for solid oxide fuel cells and hence, the samples were characterized under conditions relevant to this application. The electrical conductivity values of SMM under various oxygen partial pressures (pO2 = 10−15–104.3 Pa) over the temperature range of 300–850°C were measured by AC impedance spectroscopy. The grain boundary resistivity and bulk resistivity exhibited different oxygen-partial-pressure-dependent behavior. Electron conduction is proposed as the primary mechanism for electrical conductivity in the bulk of the sintered body of SMM under both low and high oxygen partial pressures. Electron conduction and oxygen ion conduction were found to be the primary mechanisms for electrical conductivity at the grain boundary of SMM under low and high oxygen partial pressures, respectively.
