Tactile characters aid in providing information to visually impaired persons. The Japanese Standards Association enacted basic design methods for embossed tactile patterns in March 2011. However, data on the appropriate size of tactile alphabets are not necessarily enough available. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of the size of a tactile alphabet on identification and to investigate the perceptible size for people without rich tactile experiences. The participants of this study were 15 young people and 15 old people who were unfamiliar with tactile characters intended for visually impaired people. They were asked to discriminate tactile alphabets of six different sizes by using their forefingers without the aid of eyesight. The results showed that the younger and older participants were able to discriminate the presented stimuli faster and more accurately as the stimulus size was increased. Concretely, when the size was 28 mm, each participants regardless of young or older groups could identify the tactile character accurately and quickly. In addition, a trend was seen in that the older group needed larger tactile alphabet sizes than the younger group. We determined the relationship between the tactile alphabet size and discrimination ability of younger and older people without rich tactile experiences.

The effect of several agents on mitogen-induced proliferative response<I>in vitro</I>was studied by using colorimetric MTT [3- (4, 5-dimenthyl-2-thiazolyl) -2, 5-diphenyl-2H tetrazolium bromide] assay. Immuno-modulator levamisole and TOK-8801 enhanced concanavalin A and lipopolysaccharide response in murine splenocytes at concentrations of 10<SUP>-6</SUP>-10<SUP>-5</SUP>M and 10<SUP>-4</SUP>M, respectively. Immunosuppressant mizoribine decreased dose dependently this response.<BR>These results show that MTT assay may be a useful method for the evaluation of immunological affecting agents on cell proliferative response.

看護基礎教育において,背景の異なる学生集団を対象に基礎看護技術の習得レベルを一定の水準に向上させることを目的とした研究を行った。ジグソー学習法を用いた結果,「看護技術の習得度」が前年度のクラス平均よりも15.1点/100点満点と向上した。さらに,この学習法は,「責任感」,「主体的な学習行動」,「コミュニケーションによる人間関係の形成」など,看護師としての資質を高めることにも有効であることが認められた。

In spite of the recent interest in Southeast Asian religion in public sphere, there is relatively few endeavors for research on the national identity of majority religions. This short paper deals with this issue, taking an example of how the Catholic Church authority in the Philippines has established its narrative on some aspects of Philippine past history.// First the author gives a brief explanation about the Philippine history in relation to Catholic Church’s missions, and makes it clear that, in spite of its intentions, the Church history can never be interpreted without being connected to the colonial hegemonic past, in the context of Catholicism becoming majority.// Then an example of the public document of the Church evaluating the Philippine past society as a Spanish colony is examined in the context of the Catholic Church’s struggle for ecclesial renewal in 1960-80s. The Church’s stor ytelling is about Spanish colonial past as the Golden Age and the modernization as the Fall, and the Church is authorized as re-evangelizing agent in the Christianized yet fallen Philippine society.// Then he explains further about how the democratization of the Philippines and the Church’s active role in that process made the issues of national identity of the Church more complicated in relation to being the leader of the majority religion. Here two exemplar texts about the Philippine Revolution is taken up in the context of the emergence of ambivalent meaning of “revolution” for the Church in the post-authoritarian political arena of the Philippines.// And finally he gives some suggestions in relation to the future comparative studies on the national identity of the majority religions in Southeast Asian countries.

<i>Purpose</i>: We made the fusion image of both stent and platinum coil after embolization of an unruptured aneurysm. <i>Method</i>: After scanning with cone beam computed tomography, we made three dimensional (3D) images of stent and coil and fused them. <i>Conclusion</i>: We can evaluate unruptured aneurysm after embolization by using a fusion image. 3D-fusion image is useful on clinical cases.

We compared the accuracy in evaluating an unrapture aneurysm between NV and 3D-DSA. In vitro, we evaluated the accuracy in calculating the volume of the Aneurysm model. We compared the diameter of the first coil and estimated the diameter of the Aneurysm. The Aneurysm size calculated by NV resembled the first coil more than the size measured by 3D-DSA. In clinical cases, the measurement of NV is objective; the measurement of 3D-DSA, however, is subjective by person. NV has an automatic measurement that is useful for clinical cases.

<i>Background</i>: In coil embolization of neurovascular aneurysms, we have noted that few wide-necked unruptured aneurysms are successfully embolized. This prompted us to search for useful factors to assist the choice of methods of coil embolization. <i>Method</i>: We first measured aneurysm size and volume using auto measurement (NVvol) and VER (NVver). Second, we calculated the volume (NVapp) and VER (NVapp) using approximation expressions. Third, we measured the end-on view neck angle using a 3 dimensional digital subtraction angiography (3D-DSA) image. <i>Results</i>: NVvol and NVapp were correlated (<i>y</i>=0.87<i>x</i>). NVvol VER and NVapp VER approached 24% in 41 clinical cases. The dome/neck ratio averaged 1.15. Length of neck and the end-on view neck angle were significantly different between the stent-assisted group and the balloon-assisted group. NVvol and NVapp showed a good correlation with basic examination results in 41 clinical cases. <i>Conclusion</i>: The end-on view neck angle is significantly different. This boundary neck angle was 100° for the two groups. The end on-view neck angle is thus a useful factor for deciding medical treatment strategy.

Along with a rapid increase in the size and complexity of software today, the number of required test cases is also increasing. Although a lot of approaches to derive test cases are proposed, in case of deriving test cases for combination of state transition, N-switch coverage using state transition testing is only one approach. This approach cannot manage increasing test cases. In this paper, a practical knowledge to derive high priority procedural combination test cases in test cases from 1-switch coverage using state transition testing is formalized. Procedural combinations between tasks to be tested which is derived from data design documents are defined as rules. It is confirmed that the expected procedural combination test cases can be derived using this approach from a concrete instance of an IT system.
