This study investigated cerebral ventricle size and concurrent craniocervical junction abnormality in relation to atlantooccipital overlapping (AOO) in dogs with atlantoaxial instability (AAI). A total of 61 dogs were treated with atlantoaxial ventral fixation. Medical records of each dog, including magnetic resonance (MR) and computed tomography (CT) images, were retrospectively reviewed. CT images were assessed for the presence of AOO and the dogs were then assigned to either an AOO group or a non-AOO group accordingly. CT images were also evaluated to determine the foramen magnum (FM) index. Syringomyelia, cerebellar compression, dorsal compression, and the degree of enlargement of each cerebral ventricle were evaluated using MR images. Of the 61 dogs, 23 had AOO and 38 did not. Furthermore, the ventricle/brain height ratio, the fourth ventricle height/cerebellum length ratio, and the fourth ventricle width/cerebellum length ratio were significantly higher in the AOO group than in the non-AOO group. However, the FM index, third ventricle/brain height ratio, and incidence of syringomyelia did not differ significantly between the two groups. Dogs with concurrent AOO exhibited significantly more dilatation of the lateral and fourth ventricles.

80℃, 30分間殺菌した豆乳にLactobacillus bulgaricus, Streptococcus thermophilusおよびBifidobacterium longumを混合接種して調製した発酵豆乳および発酵植物油添加豆乳ならびに市販プレーンヨーグルトを10日間冷温保蔵 (5℃) し, 48時間ごとにpH, 酸度, 乳酸菌およびビフィズス菌の生菌数およびホエー量を測定した。発酵豆乳および発酵植物油添加豆乳では, 日数の経過とともにpHは低下し, 酸度が上昇した。乳酸菌数は, いずれも減少傾向を示したが, 10日間保蔵で生菌数107以上を確保することができた。また, B.longumは, 10日間保蔵で108の菌数を保持した。ホエー量は, 保蔵日数の経過とともに, いずれもわずかに増加したが, ヨーグルトより少なかった。次に, 殺菌温度 (80℃, 90℃, 100℃, 30分間および121℃, 15分間) の異なる豆乳を用いて, 発酵豆乳および発酵植物油添加豆乳を調製して冷温保蔵した。その結果, 90℃, 30分間加熱の発酵豆乳は, 0日目のpHが最も高く, 酸度が最も低かったが, 冷温保蔵時にはその変化が, 最も大きかった。生菌数は, いずれの殺菌温度で冷温保蔵によって減少傾向を示したが, 10日間冷温保蔵で107以上を保持した。ホエー量は, いずれの発酵豆乳も殺菌温度が低いほど多かったが, ヨーグルトより低値であった。なお, 植物油添加の有無による差異はとくに認められなかった。

A dense population of a salmon-like fish, Plecoglossus altivelis, or Ayu in Japanese, is found in the River Ukawa in the north-western part of Kyoto Prefecture. We have been studying the ecology of this fish from various viewpoints since 1955. This report concerns the change of the modes of utilizing the river-pools, which we observed during the course of our study. As we have already reported (KAWANABE, MIYADI, MORI, HARADA and OHGUSHI, 1956), there can be distinguished two kinds in the life of Ayu in pools, which are related to the topographical characteristics of the river-pools as well as to their adjoining riffles, i.e., using the pools as both feeding and resting places or as shelters only. By our recent observation it was discovered that the modes practically taken by Ayu might be changed according to population density. The population of Ayu by our estimation in 1956 was far less than that of 1955 (about one-sixth). The decrease in population in 1956 was far greater in the river-pools (about one-tenth of 1955) than in the riffles (about one-fourth of 1955). In 1956,when the density of Ayu in the river was low, the pools were utilized chiefly as shefters or resting places in the night-time, and the fish used to take their foods in the daytime in the adjoining riffles, where they could find better and richer food materials in the form of algae attached to stones than, in the pools. On the contrary, in 1955,when the density was high, the pools were utilized as feeding places as in the case of the riffles ; so, some individuals were found staying and feeding there both in the daytime and at night.

A dense population of a salmon-like fish, Plecoglossus altivelis, or"Ayu"in Japanese, is found in the River Ukawa on the Japan Sea coast of Kyoto Prefecture. Members of our research group have been studing the ecology of this fish from various viewpoints since 1955. This paper concerns the change of the social behaviour and the mode of production. As already reported by our group, the common habit of this fish is territorial in the river-rapids and schooling in the river-pools. But on certain occasions, it shows no territorial behaviour, even in the river-rapids. By my recent observation, the social type of this fish appears to change with reference to the population density, and this change is accompanied by the difference in the body-length distribution. Five types were recognized in its social behaviour : schooling, solitary travelling, non-territorial solitary residential, solitary territorial and aggregated. The schooling is a social type in which all the members of a group show common behaviours, swimming in the same direction and feeding in similar manner. Solitary traveller is an independent passenger, having no home, but it may be united with a school or may be separated again. Non-territorial resident is a solitary dweller having its own range but does not show the territorial or attacking behaviour to the nearby individuals. In the territorial solitary type each fish has its own territory. An aggregation means that its members are aggregated within a certain area but do not show the common behaviour, and this type of behaviour is observed when they are resting or sleeping. The population of this fish, by our estimation, was far less in 1956 than in 1955(about one sixth), and the social relationship seemed to have been influenced by it. In 1955,when the density was high, most fishes showed the schooling behaviour and the territorial ones were very scarce. On the contrary, in 1956,when the density was low, many fishes behaved as settled solitaries and territorial individuals were not scarce. The stability of the school and the territory differs according to the change of population density. In the high density, the schooling is the common and more stable behaviour type of this fish and no difference is seen in the bodylength between the schooling and terrtorial ones. In the low density, however, the territorial behaviour is more stable, and there occurs a difference in the body-length, i.e. the territorial fishes are much larger than the schooling ones. In the case of the social structure in which the fishes are stabilized with territoriality, the growth of the non-territorial fishes seems to be checked because the latter cannot invade the bottom of the first class, which is defended by territorial fishes.

The immigration number from the sea in spring, and population density, body-length distribution and social behaviour during the settling season (summer) of the Ayu-fish (Plecoglossus altivelis) were investigated from 1955 to 1969 in the River Ukawa. The population density varied between 0.03 and 5.5 indiv./m^2,but the natural mortality from spring to summer was stable being about a half to onethird. It was confirmed that the social behaviour was changed by its population density and that the growth was not limited directly by algal production but mediated by its own social structure. When overall population density was about four times to that the all fish had their own territories, territorial structure was established only in certain types of river-bed. The difference resulted from the relation between the value of the feeding or resting site and its closedness against the invasion of non-territorial ones. Territorial structure of Ayu had probably evolved as a self-regulatory process but was not so distinct as at the present time.

目的:特定保健指導における保健指導の技術の経験,自信,修得意思について,保健師と管理栄養士で相違を明らかにし,両職種の技術の向上につながる研修への示唆を得ることである.方法:全国の自治体及び保健指導実施機関で保健指導に従事する保健師,管理栄養士(1,758人)を対象に横断調査を実施した.49項目の保健指導の技術の経験,自信,修得意思の程度と研修の参加状況等について,郵送による無記名自記式質問紙調査で尋ねた.有効回答率は40.8%で保健師503人,管理栄養士215人を分析対象とした.技術項目ごとにMann-WhitneyのU検定,χ2 検定,t検定を用いて,職種間で比較検討をした.結果:管理栄養士の方が「経験が少ない」と回答した割合が高かったものは,49項目のうち20項目あった.「健診・保健指導事業の企画・立案・評価技術」の領域で,すべての技術において経験が少なかった.保健師の方が「自信なし」と回答した割合が高かったのは,「栄養学および食事摂取基準,関連学会ガイドラインの食事療法を理解して活用する」等16項目であった.また,保健師の方が「経験は多いが自信なし」と回答した割合が高かった技術は19項目あった(p<0.05).結論:保健師と管理栄養士の保健指導の技術において,経験,自信,修得意思に職種間の相違がみられた.また,保健師の方が経験は多いが自信がないと回答した技術項目が多かった.

For home robots, functions such as support, dialogue, guidance, and hospitality with human beings are expected while safely moving in coexistence environments of the human being, such as home environments or the like. However, there arise problems concerning hugging on the home robot and falling down of the home robot accompanying it. This paper develops a standing up mechanism during falling down as a wheeled home robot function capable of smooth service.

In daily lives, it is necessary for robots to execute cooperative tasks with humans. Unlike tasks in factories, household chores don't have regular orders between each chore. The difficulty in such works is that the robot is expected to take adequate actions according to the human needs. In this paper, we proposed a system for executing cooperative tasks where robot motions are decided by imitating human motions, and the robot activates those motions according to the human aural instructions.

人工気象器でイチゴ(品種:‘とよのか’と‘女峰’)を栽培し,イチゴの果実成分に与える夜温の影響を調べた.果実の成熟日数は23/10℃(昼間/夜間)で最も長く,23/20℃で最も短かった.果重は夜温が高いと減少した.糖含量は23/20℃で有意に少なかった.有機酸含量は,‘とよのか’では処理間差がなかったが,‘女峰’では夜温が高いと増加する傾向にあった.また,糖酸比は両品種ともに23/20℃で非常に小さくなった.全アミノ酸含量は品種間差が認められた.夜温の影響は各アミノ酸により異なり,アスパラギン,グルタミン酸およびアラニンでは23/10に比べ23/20で低くかった.還元型アスコルビン酸は夜温の上昇に伴い低下したが,酸化型アスコルビン酸は夜温による差異がなかった.アントシアニン含量は夜温が高くなると増加した.また,アントシアニンの構成比には夜温の影響はなかった.エラグ酸含量は23/10℃に比べ23/20℃で高かった.また,夜温の上昇によるエラグ酸含量の増加は,‘とよのか’に比べ‘女峰’で大きかった.

製薬会社から報告されたプロテオミクス応用に関する最近の論文を中心に,製薬企業におけるプロテオーム研究動向を考察した.プロテオミクスの創薬応用は,2000年代初期の困難な時期を乗り越え,薬物代謝,安全性,臨床開発,製造など,製薬会社の様々な部門に広がった.タンパク質発現プロファイリング,薬剤の結合タンパク質を同定するケミカルプロテオミクス,SRM/MRM等を用いた個別タンパク質定量,キナーゼ阻害剤関連研究を中心としたリン酸化プロテオミクスなどの翻訳後修飾解析,タンパク質間相互作用解析など,創薬研究における様々な課題解決にプロテオミクスは不可欠となっている.翻訳後修飾解析や高深度プロテオーム解析など,プロテオミクス技術の今後の一層の進展が,創薬研究をさらに加速することが期待される.

Plant metabolism is characterized by a wide diversity of metabolites, with systems far more complicated than those of microorganisms. Therefore, plant metabolic engineering is still a challenge compared to microbial engineering. Metabolic engineering requires system-level understanding of metabolism and mathematical modeling is useful for understanding dynamic behaviors of plant metabolic systems. Time-series metabolome data has great potential for estimating kinetic model parameters to construct a genome-wide metabolic network model. However, data obtained by current metabolomics techniques does not meet the requirement for constructing accurate models. In this article, we highlight novel strategies and algorithms to handle the underlying difficulties and construct dynamic in vivo models for large-scale plant metabolic systems. The coarse but efficient modeling enables predictive metabolic engineering and also the prediction of unknown mechanisms regulating plant metabolism.

薬物動態研究は,創薬における医薬品開発の迅速化と効率の上昇,臨床における薬効や毒性・副作用発現,薬物相互作用を理解・予測する上で重要な役割を果たしている.近年,ヒトにおける薬物動態を精度高く予測するためには,薬物の輸送や代謝に関わる薬物トランスポーターや薬物代謝酵素の特性・活性解析だけでなく,multiple reaction monitoring(MRM)法を用いた定量プロテオーム解析によって得られるタンパク質発現定量情報が必要であることが明らかにされてきた.Sequential window acquisition of all theoretical fragment ion spectra(SWATH)法は1回の測定で試料中から得られるすべてのMS/MSスペクトルデータをもとに網羅的にタンパク質定量が可能であり,MRM法よりも多分子を同時に定量できる利点を有する.そこで本論文では,SWATH法を用いた網羅的定量プロテオーム解析の薬物動態研究への有用性と将来性について概説する.

Fundamentals of an electrochemical impedance measurement were reviewed. The impedance characteristics under charge transfer control and under diffusion control, and their equivalent circuits are described. Analytical method using the Nyquist plot and the Bode plot for typical impedance spectra was explained. In addition, a change in impedance behavior for CPE (constant phase element) parameter, which is often used in equivalent circuit modeling and data fitting of electrochemical impedance data, was represented. In the latter of this paper, research reports for degradation estimation of steel materials used for infrastructure using an electrochemical impedance measurement were provided. The degradation of organic coated steels, the structure of thermally sprayed coating exposed to outdoors for a long term, and the corrosion performance of reinforcing steel bars in concrete were estimated by electrochemical impedance method.

In this research, we aimed to give new findings to marketing strategies for flowers. Especially purchase of flower plants is decided not with functional value but with sensibility value. Therefore, we quantitatively and structurally analyzed the sensitivity of subjects' preferences using Kansei Engineering method. Furthermore, based on cognitive neuroscience method, fMRI (functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging) was used to evaluate the impression on the way of presenting flowers and the effect on brain activity. Based on the results, this paper explores the possibility of applying the neuromarketing which integrates the fields of marketing, psychology, and neuroscience to the flower business in the future.
