Anteflexion of the spine is essential for many physical activities of daily living. However, this motion places the lumbar disks because it generats heavy load due to changes in the shape of the lumbar spine and can lead to low back pain. In older to reduce low back pain, here we proposed a wearable sensor system configuration that can estimate lumbosacral alignment and lumbar load by measuring the shape of the lumbar skin when the lumbosacral alignment changes. The shape of the lumbar skin and posture angle are measured by using curvature sensors and accelerometers. In addition, the system must be constructed in consideration of the physique, in order to absorb in a variety of human. We proposed this system by measuring the body parameters of anteflexion and studied the change in dimensions of the lumbar spine from changes in posture. By extracting the dimensions of the lumbosacral spine in X-ray images, the attitude angle, body surface area and the dimensions of the lumbosacral spine have relevance. The lumbosacral dimensions calibration method was developed by using that relation. Lumbosacral alignment estimation considering the difference in physiques is developed, and lumbosacral spine alignment was to improve the estimation accuracy. The proposed method could improve accuracy lumbosacral alignment estimation.

Staphylococcus lugdunensis (SL) is a highly pathogenic bacterium compared to other coagulase-negative Staphylococcus spp. (CoNS). However, in Japan, data for this pathogen are sparse, and the current prevalence of SL bacteremia is unknown.A prospective multicenter study across five facilities was performed to investigate the prevalence of SL in blood culture specimens. There were 3,284 patients with positive blood cultures, and 2,478 patients had bacteremia. Among patients with bacteremia, 7 patients (0.28%) had SL bacteremia. A total of 281 patients had CoNS bacteremia, and SL accounted for 2.49% of these cases. Of the 7 patients with SL bacteremia, 1 patient (14.3%) had infective endocarditis, and 1 patient (14.3%) died within 30 days. In this study, SL resulted in the development of bacteremia in select patients. Clinicians in Japan should be aware of the prevalence of SL and the complications of SL bacteremia.

Dyskeratosis congenita (DC) is a rare inherited disease in which the telomere complex cannot be maintained. Shortened telomeres can cause a number of clinical conditions. We herein report a case of unrelated bone marrow transplantation due to aplastic anemia associated with DC. The patient died of uncontrollable refractory intestinal bleeding. Three cases of DC with life-threatening hemorrhaging after transplantation have been reported; however, the bleeding origin could not be determined. Our case is the only patient in which a gastrointestinal bleeding point, jejunal multiple angioectasia, was determined.

Of over 7,000 known rare diseases, only 5% currently have an available treatment option worldwide. Moreover, the vast majority of rare disease patients in China have no access to treatment due to limited availability and the lack of appropriate infrastructure in China's healthcare system. Despite increased interest in orphan drug development, drug companies in China with active programs on drugs to treat rare diseases are still limited. Hence, there is a huge unmet need in China, with over 10 million patients suffering from rare diseases. Nonetheless, this has created unprecedented opportunities for the Chinese drug development market. Life science innovation in China has recently received a healthy boost from the 13th National Five-Year Plan and from on-going reform of the China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA). Rare diseases are now recognized as a national priority with increasing governmental support, creating tremendous opportunities for both domestic and multinational drug companies. China is anticipated to play an increasingly important role in the global fight against rare diseases. To ensure future success, Chinese drug companies should leverage the valuable knowledge assembled over the past three decades by Western countries in the area of orphan drug development.

A 75-year-old man with a 120-bpm tachycardia and typical atrial flutter was admitted. Echocardiography showed a dilated left ventricle with anterior and apical wall akinesia. Tachycardia was terminated with cavotricuspid isthmus ablation. Multiple imaging findings revealed a woven coronary artery anomaly (WCAA) in the left anterior descending artery. Stress myocardial perfusion imaging was performed after ablation in the sinus rhythm and revealed stress-induced ischemia and a fixed low uptake in the WCAA territory. WCAA is generally regarded as a benign condition; however, compromised blood flow within the anomaly, caused by tachycardia-related diastolic shortening, may induce ischemia.

Mosquitoes pose a major threat to human health as they spread many deadly diseases like malaria, dengue, chikungunya, filariasis, Japanese encephalitis and Zika. Identification and use of novel molecular tools are essential to combat the spread of vector borne diseases. Genome editing tools have been used for the precise alterations of the gene of interest for producing the desirable trait in mosquitoes. Deletion of functional genes or insertion of toxic genes in vector mosquitoes will produce either knock-out or knock-in mutants that will check the spread of vector-borne diseases. Presently, three types of genome editing tools viz., zinc finger nuclease (ZFN), transcription activator-like effector nucleases (TALEN) and clustered regulatory interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR) and CRISPR associated protein 9 (Cas9) are widely used for the editing of the genomes of diverse organisms. These tools are also applied in vector mosquitoes to control the spread of vector-borne diseases. A few studies have been carried out on genome editing to control the diseases spread by vector mosquitoes and more studies need to be performed with the utilization of more recently invented tools like CRISPR/Cas9 to combat the spread of deadly diseases by vector mosquitoes. The high specificity and flexibility of CRISPR/Cas9 system may offer possibilities for novel genome editing for the control of important diseases spread by vector mosquitoes. In this review, we present the current status of genome editing research on vector mosquitoes and also discuss the future applications of vector mosquito genome editing to control the spread of vectorborne diseases.

本研究では,GPS測位値のような誤差を有する時系列観測を得たときに,その測位精度を表すモデルのパラメータをデータ適応的に推定する手法の有用性を示す.まず,測位精度を既往研究を援用してモデル化する.つぎに,一般状態空間モデルの枠組みにこのモデルを統合する.具体的には,ネットワーク上を移動する歩行者から取得される測位値に基づき,測位精度を歩行者位置,経路選択および移動速度と同時に逐次ベイズ推定する定式化を行った.仮想ネットワーク上から生起した擬似的な測位値への適用により推定精度を検証するとともに,従来手法との比較を通して提案手法の利点を示した.さらに,実空間上のデータにおいても,提案手法が機能することを確認した.

デマンド交通の運行計画の検討にあたり,運行経路の解のバリエーションが得られることはサービス運営者にとって有効な情報となり得る.しかし,既往の列挙アルゴリズムでは経路列挙のような膨大な組み合わせが存在する際に現実的な計算時間での列挙が困難であった.本研究は,デマンド交通の運行経路をグラフ構造により表現し,与えられたグラフ構造の中からある制約条件を満たすような部分グラフ構造を全て列挙して,それらをZDD(ゼロサプレス型二分決定グラフ)により圧縮表現して索引化する技法について提案した.また,ZDDによって得られた列挙解を用いたネットワーク上での影響分析への適用可能性についても併せて検討を行った.

At the beginning of 1945 American forces landed in the Philippines and Manila fell. As the war situation grew still more desperate, Konoe Fumimaro attended the court on February 14 for the first time in over three years and presented a long memorial to the Throne. In this memorial Konoe adomitted that defeat was inevitable but reasoned that defeat itself did not necessarily mean the end of the national polity, as the real threat was a communist revolution which could occur as a result of defeat. Therefore Konoe concluded that Japan should seek to terminate the war as immediately as possible.Until now studies about this memorial have focused mainly on his fear against the danger of a communist revolution. The aim of this paper, therefore, is to reexamine his aim in this memorial.Not only Konoe but also the Jushin, Hiranuma, Kido, and Wakatsuki, had strongly expressed the same view. It is natural that the ruling class has such feeling, and Konoe, who was a prince, has been frightened by the fear of a communist revolution from his youth.Konoe also stressed that the Manchurian Incident and Sino-Japanese War and their expansion into the Pacific War were skillfully plotted by one group within the army which have long time aimed at a communist revolution. But Konoe was strongly influenced by Ueda Shunkichi, Yosida Shigeru, and other some adherents of Kodoha, who had helped draft this memorial to begin to hold this conspiracy. Moreover this idea has been developed and intensified by his strong anger toward the army, which regarded his detachment as negativism and watched him with deep suspicion, the Sorge Incident, and his political motive to attempt a Kodoha revival.More noteworthy is Konoe's grasp of the international scene. On the one hand he pointed out that the Soviet Union was pushing revolution not only in Europe but also in East Asia. On the other hand he observed that America and Britain had not yet decided over forcing Japan to abolish the national polity. Through obtaining much accurate information from the Department of Foreign Affairs and other channels, he was somewhat optimistic about American opinion. Amongst his contacts, Ogata Shoji, chief of the second section of the Investigation Division of the Department of Foreign Affairs, played a most important role by talking and submitting the memorandum to Konoe about the international situation.In particular Konoe was very sensitive to the trend about Japan in America and knew well that there were some influential persons like Joseph Grew and Hugh Byas, who understood the position of Konoe and Japan. He concluded that Japan must terminate the war immediately by negotiating with America in order to avoid a communist revolution and to preseve the national polity.Four months later Konoe agreed to go to the Soviet Union as special envoy by the Emperor's entreaty. Though he personally distrusted the Soviet Union, he had one secret plan to negotiate directly with America using this chance. But his plan was not realized, as the Soviet Union did not accept the Konoe mission.

A new injection system using mixed fuel dissolved with liquefied CO2 is proposed in this paper. Liquefied CO2 is mixed with n-Tridecane under pressure in order to promote spray atomization and evaporation due to the effect of the flash boiling phenomenon during fuel injection, and to control the combustion process due to the effect of the internal exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) effct of CO2 gas. Therefore, a simultaneous recduction of soot and NOx is achieved effectively using this injection system. In this study, the characteristics of diesel fuel spray dissolved with liquefied CO2 are investigated quantitatively by several optical measurements. The spray characteristics are revealed by analyzing the chemical thermodynamics. As a result, it is determined that atomization of this fuel is promoted by flash boiling much more than in n-Tridecane, which is normal reference fuel, and the spray structure is considerably different from that of the normal fuel. Moreover, the numerical analysis of atomization and vaporization processes are carried out, based on the flash boiling spray model.

「四国学」とは,e-Knowledgeコンソーシアム四国が中心となって推進している地域学の取組である.その目的は,コンソーシアムに加盟している四国の国公私立8大学の教育・研究資源を学問体系化した上で,四国の特徴をさまざまな観点から取り上げることにより,四国の魅力の新発見・再発見を促し,さらには四国の未来を構築していくことにある.また,この「四国学」を各大学がeラーニングによって共有するところに,他の地域学には見られない大きな特徴がある.本稿では,コンソーシアムが発足した2008年度から,eラーニングによる単位互換科目の開講が実現した2010年度に至る3年間の事業実施状況について,主に香川大学の活動の紹介と,単位互換科目を履修した学生に対して行ったアンケートの集計結果の分析を行い,あわせて今後の大学における地域学のあり方を展望する.

染色体・遺伝子検査は,悪性リンパ腫の診断に有用である.遺伝子検査は,良悪性の鑑別に用いる.免疫グロブリン遺伝子,あるいはT細胞レセプター遺伝子の再構成はサザンブロッティングで検出する.染色体異常は,組織診断に重要なエビデンスとなる.染色体解析は,通常,G染色法で行う.SKYやFISHを併用することで,より詳細な情報を得ることも可能である.染色体・遺伝子検査は,治療法の選択や予後の推定にも有用である.
